For me its the only server I really like to be on, please please please on knees - fix it ???????

PS: I would like to donate a few bugs if it helps to have a stable server

I’m about to go on vacation, so fixes will have to wait for a couple of weeks. Regarding network issues, I’ve already posted about that. Please check earlier posts if you want to help improve the situation.

As coconut is having a well deserved break, can anyone else answer my question?

How are AI attackers spawned? both friendly and enemy ones?

I ask because my wingman and I (in 109's) came across x9 P-39 AI attackers yesterday, all attacking the same airfield at the same time.

Stat Page doesn't seem to work. Is it just me?

Some spawn in from player tripped triggers, you cross into their coverage area or set off a bases flak and they pop right in, usually above and behind.  I've been able to get attackers to spawn by touching wheels down on a runway before.  They seemed set to vulch on a forward base, so we did touch and go's to lure them in once we figured it out.

Most just spawn in due to a lack of players just to keep the war going, that is the trigger.

Coconut hasn't updated the forum post yet and I think that's leading to the confusion.

I agree with Crunch... It seems the Ai spawn in when a player flies near enough to trigger them. They often spawn above and behind. The only difference I've seen is "Attacker" planes, they spawn in at various time intervals and are not triggered by player's being near to them. (Similar to how convoys move around in the map.) This can lead to large groups of Ai attacking a single area if the "Attacker" planes are left unchecked. The Ai also will go home and rearm/repair, and the patrol groups tend to patrol a route from the icon to their base.

That sounds like a lot. Should be 3 at most. I'll check that when I'm back. This might explain the recent server overload issues.

AI patrols are triggered by proximity. AI attackers follow a schedule.

In fairness Coconut, I have also seen the same amount of Axis Aircraft attacking Allied airfields.

I've checked my track and there were actually 10 AI P-39's attacking the same field.

We got 7 of them, it looks like 3, that were un-engaged by us, left and headed off towards one of their own airfields.

Cheers

On Expert tonight I witnessed a bug re: German tanks (I've seen this before but forgot to post).  Seems they spawn at the same point, and if a tank is destroyed soon after it spawns and starts moving (e.g. within 5-10 tank lengths), the next tank that spawns drives right up to the previously destroyed tank(s) and blows up, then the next one spawns and the process repeats.

You may want to consider randomizing the spawn point a little more - so that, for example, a tank spawns at a random location within a 100 meter circle or some such - so this scenario is avoided.

Thanks again for the server Coconut and your efforts.

Server has been down since the new update. Coconut is on vacation for a few weeks, so server may remain down for sometime. We all miss the server... :(

Hi!

Have a few comments regarding "T" symbol near runway.

1. It should be placed on the left side of runway about 20-30 meters.

2. If the runway more then 1000m then about 200-300 meters from the beginning of runway. It's the place where pilot should land on all wheels.

It's very important thing on AF without runway!

Thnks to Bravo(https://forum.il2sturmovik.ru/profile/3452-bravo/ )for information.

On the normal server is there a way to turn off the red gun aiming assist?  Rctrl-I only seems to work for the bomb/rocket assists.

Thanks Mastiff, that's what I meant in the original post. I'll try it again to see if it works.

I think the expert server would be much more popular if it had the player plane icon shown on the map. I have talked with several people and that's their biggest dislike of the server and why they dont play on it. Admittedly I rather play in wings of liberty for the sole fact it shows my location on the map.

Please not. I would guess the player plane map icon is available on the normal server, so just go there?

In any case, why not give it a try and learn to navigate? For me, that adds lot to immersion. Nothing as thrilling as not knowing exactly were you are with a damaged engine or low on fuel, and having to figure it out from landmarks. That really makes me feel beeing there!

Agree. Also its much, much easier now with the extended visibility range.

For those curious about both the normal and expert servers being down, there was a msg from coconut on discord that the servers are being moved to a new host and it could be a couple of days.

The WingWalkers are late to this dance, but are studying up and getting ready to dip our feet in the pond.  I know it sounds like Coconut is setting up a new server.....but were there certain times that this ran?  Or did it just run continually?

Also as new visitors, any advice to be good neighbors and not mess things up for the frequent flyers?

It's a 24/7 campaign, each session/ map ran three hours non stop, till the campaign was won.  So you could jump on any time day and night.

Primary advice, use the planes as if your going to be held accountable for their loss.  Because you will, and your side will pay the price.  Good idea not to use the expert to learn how to taxi and takeoff, the normal server is set up for that.  Major difference between the servers is icons are on in normal.  There is a reserve system, you put your own planes on more forward bases and they're reserved for your future use.  Planes can also be bought if you earn credits for mission accomplishment.  Otherwise first mission in a campaign you can only spawn in at the main base in all CAPITAL's and get the currently available types.  Don't worry if there's only a few types available your very first map, they always get new supply with every new map.  You technically aren't in the campaign until after your first map rolls and puts you in the stats, so if you don't have any stats the messages won't work, kind of a gray area, so keep flying out of the main base, everything will work normally next map.

Secondary advise, bring wingmen, the more the better.  Your going to need them, it's getting harder to lone wolf as the users increase and gain knowledge of the mechanics of this server.  It's not strictly a dogfight server, probably a tactical strike pilots wet dream of a server, but be warned these strike pilots also know how to kill, and very fast.  It's strike and level bombing that wins these campaigns.  It mimics the East front very well, not as much going on up at altitude besides the occasional bomber from the German side, most of the action is low level.

As the proficiency of attack pilots has grown, so has the power of AAA, don't go at any major target alone, chances are your not making it out.  Once your group has weakened a site, keep crushing it, you have whatever is left of the three hours, when the map rolls all the AAA will be reset dependent on sector supply.  Best to pick a target and keep hammering, unless the enemy wises up and starts hammering you.

The campaign is fun, even more so flying it with others on comms.  Most of the fun is figuring out the war, what works, what don't, just like the real deal.  It'll take some time, have patients, you have to learn the war to succeed, and than the fun part, it changes over time, so you won't get bored, just better.  You may discover those planes you thought were your favorites, no longer are.
