ShamrockOneFive Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 I just don't know how to DL the map and planes. Do I need to purchase them? from the website? There's no extra download. Everyone has the same content downloaded to their game. If you own BoK then you own the BoK content that is currently released. Do you see the Kuban map in your list of Quick Mission maps? (top right corner)
EAF51_Triple1 Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 They are not ready yet. This is early access. Thanks
Guest deleted@83466 Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Is anybody experiencing a greater incidence of stutters? I was really cranking along before at ultra settings (with SLI) and had oodles of gpu power to spare, and completely stutter free in every imaginable circumstance. However, started to get some last night pretty bad, and had to take the settings down to High, but the stutters never completely went away. There were some really gigantic furballs and lots of people on line, but before the patch that was no problem at all. I wonder if the new shadows are causing this? I hate to have to turn them down (currently at medium).
BlitzPig_EL Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 (edited) I had to turn my shadows down to high from ultra because of it Iceworm. GTX 980, I7 5820K at stock timing, 16gig HyperX PC4-24000 SDRAM DDR4 3000 288pin. all on an EVGA X99 FTW mobo. Current Nvidia drivers. Edited September 4, 2017 by BlitzPig_EL
LLv24_Zami Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Ultra shadows are way above old shadows in quality and it`s quite demanding for hardware. So if you experience stuttering or other performance issues, that would be the first setting I would turn down.

Since the update I have at times had stutters when there are a lot of aircraft and I suspect it might be something to do with the shadows of the aircraft. I have a 1080Ti on a 32" monitor and prior to this update I had no stutters in game and always had constant and high frame-rates. Will look at BlitzPig_EL/Zami's suggestion.

I hate to have to turn them down (currently at medium). My impression is that something broke with the second Kuban patch. Now Berloga and WOL are nearly unplayable. I opened Fraps and my fames are just freaking out, blinking from 55 to 60, sometimes from 50 to 60 like a disco strobe. Not what I'm used to see. I went up the clouds, looked at the sky and the same thing happens. I have a GTX 1060 6GB with an i7-3770K and 16GB of RAM. Before the second patch, WOL was running super smooth with shadows in ultra and 60+ players. Just now I went to SP with everything maxed (shadows, terrain, graphics), heavy clouds over my head and 16 planes and fraps is locked on 60 and the game is running smooth. My connection is stable at 60MB of download and 6MB upload. I know nothing about it, but it might be a master server problem, a netcode update that went bad or some European hub that went bananas. But the strobe effect on Fraps is strange, which makes me think it is a broken patch somewhere. I'll try to test later tonight. Go to some European and North American servers to see if there is a difference. But SP is smooth with everything maxed. Edited September 4, 2017 by SeaW0lf
Blitzen Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 (edited) My ultra performance with VR became very clunky after the hot patch as well. I dialed it way back & that helped.Of course in a way Ultra settings may be a bit of a waste with VR as resolution is not nearly as good as playing the sim in VR, so reducing definition settings doesn't hurt that much with flying in 3D. Yeah I just recently lowered mine from Ultra to High, seemed to get a nice little boost and really can not see much of any difference if any.

They might have broken the netcode with the hot patch or the master server is having problems. Could be the internet, but usually these worldwide crashes takes a day or even less to normalize, and WOL and Berloga are bad for a few days now. I'll do some tests tonight to confirm it. Like I said, SP is running smooth with everything maxed just like the first day of the Kuban patch. Edited September 4, 2017 by SeaW0lf

SeaW0lf Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 (edited) How about it now? I played this early morning with 10-20 players and now with 70+ players and it is better, but still jittery both in WOL and Berloga, especially in furballs or populated areas. Even with shadows off and with balanced graphics. It is jittery no matter the setting. At least it is playable now, but the jitters are bad sometimes and it is never smooth. Something is off. Just did not test everything in low because I think it is irrelevant. SP has no effect. I can play with everything cranked to max. I also tested ROF at Syndicate server (big map) with everything maxed, SS included (and who plays ROF know how SS is taxing), and it is smooth as well. I'll update the driver (if available). Other than that I can reinstall the game, but that will be a hassle. Strange because some people are mentioning it (saw some other posts) and it seems to have started at the same time (after the hot patch). -------edit------- Ah, forgot to mention. Tested Wargrounds as well and it is also jittery (just me at the server), and the server has a low ping for me (60/120). I disabled full screen and it got better, but the server was empty, then I can't say much. The 70+ at WOL was with full screen disabled. Edited September 5, 2017 by SeaW0lf
Guest deleted@83466 Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 (edited) It seems that every time after the patch that I've experienced the stutters, it's been on the Stalingrad map. Not 100% sure of it. Could just be on the Moscow maps there wasn't enough action going on in any particular situation to cause it. My Graphics preset was at Ultra, and now turned down to High, but my shadows always were at Medium. Edited September 5, 2017 by Iceworm
Gambit21 Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 I'm not seeing a noticeable gain in FPS going from Ultra to High with my 4K monitor. This tells me there's some optimizing to be done yet most likely.
SeaW0lf Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 The Kuban patch was a dream. The usual jagged stutters since BoS were gone and it was running like butter in SP and at WOL for a couple days. I did several dream missions at WOL with shadows in ultra, even with graphics in ultra. I did not play right after the hot patch, but as soon as I logged the difference was night and day. It was nearly unplayable online. It got better today, but still far from normal. Could be a coincidence, it could be not. And like I said, SP is fine. I can play with everything maxed.
FTC_crane Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 I can confirm stutters on multiplayer with high player count in the area. When replaying the recording with the same scenes - no stutters.
rel4y Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 (edited) Nice update! I think this sim is very much heading in the right direction. I had initially uninstalled the game as soon as the first FW190 patch came out and in the forums it was sold as increased realism. I never looked back after that. But the recent FM patch made me reinstall and I enjoy it very much. The wobble has pretty much gone and the stall characteristics seem much improved. Dynamic pressure effects seem pretty reasonable. Good job Mr. Williams and Co. The new map looks absolutely fantastic, probably the best map in a flight sim to date. I will buy Kuban as soon as it is released. One thing that needs improvement though is the 109 roll rate. I usually fly DCS and immediately noticed the F-4 rolls worse than the DSC K-4, which roll rate now fits pretty much exactly the DVL report. So I compared the F-4 to the 1944 DVL Rollwendigkeit test, which is the only german roll test I personally know of. The G models should roll a bit better as the increased stiffness of the G wings result in less wing twist and higher aileron effectiveness. I am sure the FM team has access to this document as well. I tested at ISA conditions, 3000m with about 5 test runs per velocity according to report procedures. I see a peak discrepancy of ~15%. The first and last data points should be taken with a grain of salt. Keep up the good work! Cheers! Edited September 5, 2017 by rel4y

SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 It does not have better performance. But great DM, a beautiful new map, campaign, the duck, boats, way better FM, prettier graphics aye. I would love more technologies for VR like multi-res-shading, lens-matched-shading, and most important: Single Pass Stereo. That would allow current VR players to almost double their fps, and play on Ultra all day long even in furballs.
1CGS Han Posted September 6, 2017 Author 1CGS Posted September 6, 2017 Dear pilots, One week has passed and we decided to release the second hotfix for the big 2.012 update. This time it adresses the follwoing: 1. Aircraft shaking issue during a take off run at certain wind speeds has been fixed; 2. AI Mig-3 and Bf 110 G-2 now will take off properly; 3. Switching shadows completely off in VR mode won't crash the game anymore; 4. AI ships and submarines aim their torpedoes more accurately; 5. Pre-stall warning (buffeting sound) on Yak fighters happens earlier; 6. New ship models were corrected; 7. Hs 129 B-2 indicator lamps and fire sounds have been corrected. 13
Finkeren Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Perfect is a strong word, but this sim is head and shoulders above the competition and is hitting milestone after milestone on a near monthly basis. It's a great time to be a simmer. 1
Uufflakke Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Some one had a Pink Floyd album playing. Lol! Nobs was a Russian wolfhound by the way. In case some doesn't know what Pink Floyd has to do with it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a90vXD9Kllk Sorry for getting too much off topic.

(see my sig) 4x AA=juddering, ASW on=judder, above 1.7ss=judder. sharpen=judder But I seemed to have found a sweet spot with good image quality/performance balance . Another variable I may tweak in shadows as mine are on high.
Blitzen Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I wonder if other VR users have found that the mirror on the Hs-129 to be pretty useless ( in seated position i cannot see athing and have to raise my head quite a bit just to see te top of the fuselge,)and since it does not show the verticle stabilizer unrealistic...
Dave Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I thought the stuttering was a WOL load issue.

CAPSLOCK_ON Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Just had to come back to this topic to repeat what others are saying... this is a milestone update, indeed. Last night I finally spent some hours flying around in some QMB missions, and the FM and sense of flying feels so much improved. Tested the LaGG-3, 190 and 109F, and the 109 is now a stable gun platform, no more wobbling and all aircraft in general feel like they're actually flying steady under your control even with several types of rudder inputs, also they feel smoother and much easier to land on crosswinds. The Kuban map is a wonder, I'm speechless about it, great was the sensation of buzzing in high speed across the valleys and pop up moments before the strafe run with the enemy AAA shooting. Looking forward for more flying time tonight! This time with the heavies...

It isn't just VR users. First thing I do when I get a new plane is adjust my views to a particular zoom level, position and tilt so that I can see the major instruments I need to see when Track IR is centered. For Hs-129 and P-40, I don't have a good mirror view as a result. Not too big a deal really, but it would be nice to be able to adjust these mirrors, as I'm guessing they were certainly adjustable in real life. Edited September 6, 2017 by Iceworm
