Really nice skins Skywarp.  I was admiring the replica Spitfire at Heathrow that is in these exact colours.

 

One bit of advice, disable the red tape layer on the alpha.

Yes ICDP, I made 2 tests... in the other one I disabled that layer in the Alpha Channel, but this one I achieved better results in another aspects... but I forgot that layer... I will correct it.

 

There's another thing that is bothering me...

Because I use a notebook to manage the skins that doesn't support 4k templates... it crashes...

I didn't install GIMP on the PC I use to fly cause I only use it for my sims...

And the notebook gives me mobilty... I can manage the skins while I'm out of home...

Anyway, I'm happy you liked it...

 

 

For the Silver Spitfire I know it served on 118, 132 RAF and 401 RCAF squadrons.

 

I'm searching for the letter codes that MJ271 used on these squadrons, because I want to develop the skins.

 

I know that 118 used NK, 132 used FF, and 401 used YO, but I need to find the particular letter in each sqn.

Supermarine Spitfire Mark Vb
402 Sqn. EP120 / AE-A (S/L Jeff Northcott) | RAF Duxford 

I couldn't find a skin based on this one, so I decided to make my own one. It's slightly based on the Revell Supermarine SPITFIRE Mk V 1:72 04164 model. This model included black stripes for the "NOT TO BE WALKED ON" part and no red fabric cover near the AE-A, but I also included an alternative red striped plus the red fabric cover version that you can see on the photographs of the real plane.

" Our Mk.V Spitfire is one of the most credited historic aircraft left anywhere in the world with an impressive SEVEN confirmed kills. EP120 was built at the Castle Bromwich factory where she was probably test flown by the legend that was Alex Henshaw. She was taken on charge by the RAF in May 1942 with 45 MU at Kinloss in Scotland. She was assigned to 501 Sqn the following month and scored six of her confirmed kills with Sqn Ldr Geoffrey Northcott at the helm. A ground collision saw her returned to Castle Bromwich for repair following which she was allocated to 19 Sqn in Cornwall. In April 1944 she was taken on charge with 402 Sqn ‘City of Winnipeg’ RCAF, coded AE-A, which are the colours she wears today.In June 1944 EP120 went to 33 MU at Lyneham, before moving onto 53 OTU at Kirton in Lindsey. Following a period as a ground instructional airframe, EP120 served as gate guard at a number of RAF stations until 1967 when she was used as a static aircraft in the ‘Battle of Britain’ movie. Following her first silver screen experience she was back guarding the gate, at RAF Wattisham this time until 1989 when she was transported to St. Athan along with all the rest of the gate guard Spitfires. EP120 remained in storage at St. Athan until she joined The Fighter Collection fleet in 1993.Following a full restoration, EP120 returned to the skies in September 1995 and has been a popular performer with both the crowds and pilots ever since."

I was wondering if any of the very talented Skin artists could do this particular Skin?

This particular Spitfire MKVb has a strong family connection and I would love to have it in game. Some history below:

"The Barwell Spitfire would be begin its life at 609 Squadron at RAF Biggin Hill in the London Borough of Bromley.

Pilot-Officer Seghers (Croix de Guerre) a Belgian was a regular pilot of the Barwell Spitfire while it was stationed at 609 Squadron.

The mascot of 609 Squadron was Wing Commander William B. Goat, it was said that 'no pilot would dare to chance his luck by failing to salute the 'Wing Co' each morning'.

11th July 1941 1:50pm Seghers took off from RAF Biggin Hill on a bomber escort, during this operation he would take the Barwell spitfire to its first victory when he attacked and shot down a German Lufftwaffte Messerschmitt BF109 fighter over Le Touquet in France.

28th July 1941 The 609 Squadron moved to RAF Gravesend in Kent.

24th September 1941 The 609 Squadron moved back to RAF Biggin Hill.

While stationed at RAF Biggin Hill the Barwell Spitfire would be continuously involved in attack sweeps and patrols.

31st October 1941 The 609 Squadron was withdrawn from the front line and moved to RAF Duxford in Cambridgeshire. The aircraft maintenance log shows an entry for this date at the Air Fighting Development Unit.

April 1942 Towards the end of the month the Barwell Spitfire would fly its last operation with 609 Squadron due to the Squadron replacing the Spitfires with Hawker Typhoons"

I believe its a fairly simple and standard RAF skin but with the word 'Barwell' written in white on the right side under the cockpit.
