Since you allready teaching the AI new stuff - please also teach them to "return to base" when they got badly hit!

It would improve SP so much!!

I see them do this quite often actually.

What I don't see is them bailing out.

Great looking boats, and the other aspects of the next update look amazing.  One question - will the boats be skinnable to any degree, either when released or later (perhaps whenever mods on mode arrives)?  At least, will we be able to change the flags if we want to at some point?

Posted

I do wander if playable Boats will be a thing ever.  I think they would be more requested than tanks, if the right ships are introduced.  I really cant wait to dive on these new ships though!

I was thinking the same thing.

This game isn't needed either. Some things exist purely for fun.

With the sentence you used to start this post you made the rest of it irrelevant.

Not here.

Great News - the ships and the new scenery look just awesome.

But what's going on with the cloud in the background in the first image:

rahvl32x.jpg

Is this a new type of cloud? Or is this a preview of the multiple cloud levels? Or am I starting to see things?

Anyway - the next few weeks will feel way too long ...

Thanks

:salute:

Flo

That IS interesting. I have often wondered if the developers would try and make a cumulonimbus type cloud for summer maps. I realize that may be complicated but this does have a bit of an appearance of one. Or it could be a weird angle.

What other types of ships will we see in BoK? The German navy also used R-boats (Räumboote) and S-boats (Schnellboote) in the Black Sea. Some larger transport ships would also be useful for mission building.

A short but powerful update. Thats why you guys (devs) are the best. In Shangaan we have a saying...Mintirho ya bula bula. Deeds speak for themselves. And you guys are doing it. Thank you.

There are large transport ships in the background in the picture lower left - 3 of them.

Also, when you zoom (save pic to PC then open in viewer) in you see that the far left ship is being shot at by the Russian ship in foreground - you can see explosions in the water and tracer/shells going in.

If you hadn't mentioned it I hadn't seen the explosions.

Yesterday after watching this picture my eyes got attracted to the mountainous coastline. As if the land gets pulled up by the water or so.

Or it is something else and I start to see things that are not there.

Like others do with the rain clouds as seen in the 1st screenshot.

I see them do this quite often actually.

What I don't see is them bailing out.

After 50+ SP missions I have yet to experience a behaviour like this... AI fights with badly damaged planes all the time - untill death actually. It completely kills immersion and leads to much bigger losses on both sides tham actually 'necessery'.

Jumping pilots Ive seen here and there but only if a plane is completely destroyed.

Jumping pilots Ive seen here and there but only if a plane is completely destroyed.

Just minutes ago I completed a "Blazing Steppes" mission, in which the P-40s providing close escort for some Il-2s damaged a 109.  (It is true!)   I was in my Yak, as top cover, all alone after seeing my two wingmen collide with one another and bail out. :(

The P-40 damaged the 109 with the white trail indicating a coolant hit. If the pilot was injured I do not know. The 109 flew westwards, and the P-40s turned away to the east. Out of ammo? Who knows.  I watched for a while to see if the 109 would crash, but it did not, maintaining it's overall direction while weaving slightly.

Seeing nothing else to do I dived down and finished him off, setting him on fire.

So my observation would be that the AI certainly fights with badly damaged planes, rather more often than I would like, but it does not do it all the time which suggests that the parameters are there in the game.

If you get as bad at the game as I am, you'll find your AI opponents dropping flaps and landing gear (sometimes even lights too); then you realize that while you were chasing them forever, missing burst after burst, they were flying for their airfield.

I only see this in campaign missions though. I've never seen it in quick missions.

AIs returning to base after being damaged, running out of ammo or fuel is a behavior that mission makers can enable by ticking a box. It's in the game, but there are situations when you may not want that, and therefore it's optional.

The Soviet Black Sea Fleet had an old battleship, 6 cruisers, 19 destroyers and a large number of smaller ships.  The battleship took no part in the fighting around Kuban but the smaller ships did.  In general however the Soviet Fleet was rather inactive due mostly to maintenance issues.

The Romanians had 4 destroyers and a number of lighter torpedo and patrol boats, but nothing larger.  Bulgaria, Italy and Croatia all contributed to the mix.

This should be a good warm up for the Pacific. I doubt we will see the battleship, but I hope to see a destroyer leader, or maybe a cruiser.

Edit, I think that is just rain falling from that cloud.

For me I think a nice looking cumulonimbus  is a must for the pacific.

These are just the river ships we already have in the game.

I cannot wait for the map and a specially the region around "Novorossiisk" !

A long battle, with Soviet paratrooper drops, amphibious landings, concrete fortifications, ships shore bombardments, all sort of special troops types (SS, non-German allies, mountain ground forces, regular infantry, etc…) , mountains and the sea not far from each other.

But I forgot the most important some great air battle for the control of the skies.

Thanks for this map and possible scenarios.  :salute:

See the old board game "Black sea black death" one of the best.

All these ships look very nice. I hope to see wakes that are realistic mainly in the turns. I mean wakes that have a nice curvature when the ship turns.

I also hope that there will be humans on board that can be seen manning the guns.

Yes please female soldiers with nice curvatures. That would be nice

None of the aircraft we have available can carry aerial torpedoes. The closest we get are the A-20 of which we have the B version and its the C that had the torpedoes and then the He111H-6 and Ju88A-4 which both had special torpedo modified versions of those aircraft. As ours are currently configured... they can't carry them.

They are adding the tech for ships to shoot torpedoes at each other and then the aerial torpedo technology will no doubt come with Battle of Midway with the TBD and B5N.

This gonna be a very interesting Patch especially for the new FM

The map also seems gorgeous in terms of diversity (relief, Sea ...)

So is BoK officially being released at the end of August when the Kuban map is released with update 2.012?

Posted

No, full release is slated to be around December if I recall correctly.
