Oh boy! I was curious about the Spit before. Now I am positively hyped!

 

Sounds very interesting, especially the "neutral static" controls. Might give a very different feel to it.

 

The Merlin 45 mod will likely make a lot of people happy. Personally, I look forward to have a plane that can run circles around the 109s at high altitude.

 

The engine sound is great, though like all the engines it does lack a certain metallic oomph that's there when you hear it for real.

 

Really looking forward to release.

The Merlin 46 performs best at higher altitudes, the 45 at lower, so we get both.

BTW: Did anyone else notice how exceptionally slender the "bars" are around the windscreen? That view forward is amazingly good compared to what I was expecting.

I really liked the spit in CloD............. was fun to fly, wish we could have the Huri too................. and Leningrad.......................would have to paint both in captured German schemes..... LOL.

Oh no worries. The Spit ain't gonna dethrone the Fw 190 as the superior fighter in the sim. Still it'll be a ton of fun.

It's in beta testing so I guess the date is "when testing is complete".

That was also my first thought seeing the cockpit.

Yes however the "bar" at the bottom of the armoured glass is extremely thick, suffers from the same lack of refraction issue the 190 has I think ?

It is not going to be a good high altitude fighter with the Merlin 46, just better than with the 45.

 

However, as long as you don't expect it to be a world beater it can prove suprisingly effective if used properly.

Looks about right to me, perhaps the lower "bar" is a bit too prominent? Likely something that can't easily be altered due to conflicts with the external model.
