SCU_Server Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 Hi is there a picture reference to the skins that you can assign to planes in the editor in the Plane Advanced menu, im trying to add winter skins to planes for the winter map but unsure which to pick from in the drop down menu. Thanks stephen
JimTM Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 (edited) Try the plane viewer (...\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\viewer\Viewer.exe). When you select "Load Model", it shows the default skin. Then you can select "Load Skin" and select skins, which I believe are listed in the same order that they are listed in the "Skin" drop-down list in the editor. "Load Model" returns you to the default skin again. Edited May 27, 2017 by JimTM
SCU_Server Posted May 27, 2017 Author Posted May 27, 2017 Thanks Jim, i did look at that but the name ref wasnt the same so thought they may be diffrent, Cheers Stephen
Habu Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 (edited) I found that the skin list in the viewer is the same that the skin list in the editor. For exemple, the third skin in the viewer will be the third skin in the editor Edited May 30, 2017 by Habu
SCG_Schneemann Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 (edited) A bit late, but I put the current pictures in a document, along with the dates and cruise speeds. Speeds were either of the internet , or personal trial, so YMMV. Yellow boxed is the default skins, the rest is in order as I figure you guys can count so didn't label them, and red boxed are the "unique" ones, that don't come up in the game, but can be assigned in the ME. aircraft default skins.pdf Edited November 15, 2017 by 1./JG54_Schneemann 1 2

FTC-Paddy Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 @SCG_Schneemann How did you procduce the list? I'd like to create one that's up to date, just don't tell me it was manually opening each one etc as that'll be painful. There's also the challenge in the skinviewer of custom skins showing up...

The best option remains to open the skin viewer applications as you have the editor open. The two can work in parallel. The skins are ordered the same way. Do not look at the numbers. Just count down the list in the viewer and do the same in the editor and 99% of the time it is ok. Custom skins will also show in the skinviewer list. However the custom skins show in the editor under their full name so you should have no problem with custom skins. Attention! The custom skins show always at the bottom of the list in the editor in full name. In the skinviewer they come atop the list. So if you want to use a skin that is one of the standard game skins you should not consider the custom ones in the skinviewer and start counting after the custom ones. There is also a point to consider, the number zero in the list is the default skin. It is the one that the plane has when you open the skinviewer. So the default skin is not in the list of the skinviewer.
Habu Posted March 23, 2023 Posted March 23, 2023 There is a better way i use. I invite you to use that tool which is a great help. The advantage is that the name of the skin is listed and it's easier to select the right skin in the editor. There are many other interesting things in that tool. 2
