Discussion of Battle of Kuban Pre-Order

I didn't read every post in this discussion -- so forgive me if my question has already been answered.

I bought the early access version Battle Of Kuban -- which is the first time I've bought an early access version -- and didn't know what to expect.

I can fly in "Quick Mission" mode but "Campaign" mode isn't available nor is the P-39. The sim is on my desktop and I'm not on it right now -- so I can't verify but I don't think the A-20 is available either. Am I right in assuming the Campaign mode plus the P-39 and A-20 will be added upon full release in December?

Thanks for a great sim!

Yep, the P-39, A-20 and Yak7b are all slated to be released in December. Along with campaign ( a re-worked campaign ) and coop game mode. Its all coming in one big patch over the next few months. They are basically in crunch time mode.

Will BOK be sold through Steam?  Or only directly through the IL-2 website?  I have a couple of Steam friends I'd like to gift it to.

Yes, after its release. BOK will be a DLC for Battle of Stalingrad on Steam, so make sure that your friends have BOS on Steam before giving them the gifts.

honestly, tell them to make an account on the side and gift it to them directly from the IL-2 website. don't give half the money to steam, give it all to the team  ;)

Good grief, is it really half?

*whispers* i don't really know how much Steam takes, but half sounds like a good reason to buy on the website instead

don't tell him i said that  ;)

33% is their standard share. They negotiate ..depending on  conditions  size of the  studio and  more or less need of steamworks.

As much as I am looking forward to FC and BOBP, I really can not wait for the full release of BOK.  There are so many things to enjoy with this release that it'll mean that no other games will see the light of day for a good while:

 - P-39

 - Campaign

 - New graphics tweeks

 - A-20

 - Yak-7

etc, etc.

Can. Not. Wait.

Will mod-on be a feature at BOK release?

From the Bodenplatte announcement:

<<<As you can see we have ambitious plans for Sturmovik. No doubt you will have many questions and concerns about what we have announced. The bigger picture is that are now ready to try making parallel products for our WW2 fans, WW1 fans and possible new customers who enjoy tank battles. But beyond that, we hope to accomplish the following in our next development cycle.

-          New MP matchmaking system and lobby with chat

-          Improvements to aircraft fuel systems and add drop tanks

-          Oxygen masks for pilots at high attitude

-          Jet engine technology and associated physics of higher Mach numbers

-          Improvements to AI

-          Option for 4K skins by default and preview pics in the GUI for Custom skins

-          In-Game Model Viewer (hold over from Kuban)

-          Mods On/Off (hold over from Kuban)

-          More attractive GUI and better GUI optimization

…. and many other small, medium and large improvements to usability, functionality and performance.>>>

I take that to mean it will come some time after the release of Kuban.

Totally agree! I'm super excited for BOBp, but it's good to remember that there's a lot of great stuff coming in the next month or so!

Quick question; Are we still on track for full release of BOK this year? Haven't been catching up news much.

Not sure about that. Recently had a look at store`s descriptions of BoK and BoBP - BoK does not feature coop, just "Multi-Player Mode", whereas BoBP is the one that outright spells coop.

Would be nice of the devs to shed some light on this.

coop will be available for all players not just some titles.

Gents,

I'm not a fan of plane-sim but I'm tank-sim fan, disappointed with other tank multiplayer games.

The Battle of Kuban contains playable tanks but my question as tank-sim fan what is a content is prepared for playable tanks?

Campaign? Multiplayer? Multiplayer at combined battles?

Multiplayer and probably scripted campaign (15-20 missions) in Tank crew.

I would expect it will be mainly focused on multiplayer experience.

I know about Tank Crew, but asked about game at this topic included tanks: What may I expect at Battle of Kuban as tank experience?

Yoy may expect utter disappoinment in tank experience given its current state. The title is really for planes.

You may want to either develop interest in planes or wait till tank crew.

It's limited to the T-34 and PzIII with some basic controls and operations. It's relatively realistic but you can tell its not a fully developed experience.

That said, I've had a great time playing some combined arms matches in a very limited fashion. Driving a tank and capturing territory while fighting off the enemy team and being a part of the larger air battles above is pretty cool. It's just limited in depth and scope right now because what we got was something they were just tinkering with before. Now they are going to be more serious about it.

so December is here, any ETA on when well get our hands on the Remaining aircraft's?

I need some P-39 in my life

I'm hoping by Christmas, but the window extends into early January.

The last we heard was that the devs were planning to release the last three aircraft, plus a bunch of enhancements, plus Career mode, and other stuff all together rather than incrementally. That patch is likely to be given the 3.001 version number (we're currently 2.012) and I'm guessing we won't see it until late December. The devs said it may even be January.

Obviously there's a lot going into this big final push towards being complete. Hopefully one of the dev updates will mention when they begin beta testing with the external tester team and then we'll have a better idea of when exactly it might be ready.

Can't wait! :)

Thanks for the info, really looking forward to the Career mode, among other things.

You can already use the content - it will appear in your Steam copy of BOS.

FFS... Can the publisher/dev team do SOMETHING... ANYTHING... to make this point more clear at the time of purchase?

Jason has said before that it's clearly explained but it's evident that he's incorrect about that given the fact the community fields an answer for this question half a dozen times daily.

Perhaps they don't want to create any friction with Steam, so they keep this on the down low.

What friction would an official statement on game licensing cause..?

Favoring sales on official site over Steam, who knows.

There may be a clause in the agreement about not discussing the specific business arrangements or the percentage cut of the virtual store. That wouldn't be unusual in the slightest.

What does that have to do with clarifying how licensing/activation works..?

I never implied they should publish specific metrics about cuts/arrangements.

I hope I can see the final release of BOK before I go on Christmas Holidays ....
