For me, Since I updated my nvidia drivers I am able to play the game just fine for about a half an hour to an hour when suddenly the screen goes black and my computer restarts.  Quite unsettling when it happens.  It doesn't seem to matter if I'm playing qmb, on line or in campaign.  RoF still runs great and right now they are having a 7th anniversary sale so if you haven't checked the game out yet I'd happily recommend RoF!

 

ROF is absolutely amazing and it is on special I am surprised iI did not fly it before I love flying over the trenches and watching the shells land and

taking photo reconnaissance flights.

 

I just downloaded a ton of skins.

 

It runs flawless with no issues maxed out settings and controls run great and all this in online play.

I try to stay away from these discussions when someone feels the game is "broken" or "buggy" because generally that person is so staunch in their beliefs that little will change their view. Last year I had all the frequent crashes to desktop that a lot of others were having. When the game ran well though it was worth the frustration. Even after a lot of folks started to post how much more stable the game had become I was still experiencing crashes. Maybe not a often but still more than I would've liked.

 

It wasn't until I upgraded to Win10 that I think I found what my issue had been. I couldn't get the upgrade to install. I don't remember what exactly the issue was but the gist of it was my Win7 install had become corrupted in some way. I never experienced any crashes outside of BoS but there was something that was causing the sim to kick out. After reinstalling 7 my upgrade to Win10 went like clockwork. Since that time, I'd say BoS and all of the patches to add BoM content have preformed pretty much as I'd hoped for. As a practice, after every major patch I do a new install of the sim from a saved download. One big patch sometimes, but it seems to smooth out any little wrinkles for me.

 

As I said, this game today, to me anyway, is nearly problem free. I've only had a couple of crashes. I think those are attributable to not closing down a couple of background programs. I generally try to reboot before launching BoS. It seems to help. My system is about five years old and in need or an upgrade but I'm going to push it until fall at the earliest. Still, I'm able to fly the new maps, the campaigns without any real issues. All in all, I'm really pleased with the progress being made. I'm more than eager to see where we go after BoM goes gold.

maybe the video card then, the textures in this game are very hard on my gtx980ti and it reaches temps of 88c... the fan hits 99% every time I play this.

 

ah I see you only have 2gb of ram, on that one in your sig. there's your problem you would have to run this game at balanced settings.

You vid card is running really hot.Mastiff.Way too hot.My GTX 660 OC 2 GiG runs in Ultra settings with everything maxed out and it runs at a steady 56C.

 

World of tanks maxed out brings my card up to 62C that is the hottest it gets with games.

 

All other games run lower than BOS with all the game video settings maxed out.

I can't really speak to what your issues are as I'm having none of those. I don't fly online that often but I spent three hours yesterday on the DED - Aerobatic server just tooling around trying it out. I didn't have any crashes. It was quite enjoyable.

 

Unless it was the time or two that the developers warned us that the settings were changed before hand, not once in all the patches released have I have my controller settings screw up or get deleted somehow. Out of old habits, I recalibrate my stick whenever I start the sim. But even if the settings did disappear, all I have to do is plug in my back up copy of the input folder. It takes less than a minute to plug it in.

 

I don't know if I've read where you've done a complete reinstall but I'd sure give it try if not.

Reinstalled it and it did not crash so far.

 

Third reinstall since the patch. Time will tell.

 

I gave up on the controls

 

I guess you should just use one joystick with the keyboard. lol

The GTX980ti is a hot card in general... And comparing temps between something like a 660 and a 980ti is a bit difficult given the differences in architecture.

You press the print-screen key on your keyboard.

 

And it never managed to crash the game for me.

1. Main causes of game crashes were found and fixed;

2. We investigated the issue with Saitek Cyborg Evo Force. It turned out that its 64-bit drivers are crashing, even in its own test utility. Driver version 6.0.4.1 is problematic and will crash, driver version 6.2.2.4 works ok. Problem is, older 6.0.4.1 driver is offered for some Saitek joysticks while you can download driver 6.2.2.4 for others. If you manage to install the driver 6.2.2.4 for your joystick, it should work fine. However even the newer driver is dated 2008 and probably won't work on Windows 10;

3. Landing gear dumping limits increased for Bf 109 F-2, Bf 109 F-4, Bf 109 G-2, LaGG-3, La-5, Yak-1, and both Pe-2 bombers;

4. Tail wheel behavior corrected for LaGG-3 and La-5, resulting in easier taxiing and taking off;

5. Bf 109 E-7 landing gear won't 'shrink' when you press brake pedals anymore;

6. Campaign text briefings now include additional weather information and player wing composition;

7. AI Ju-88 added to Battle of Stalingrad campaign.

 

 

I am an unfortunate possessor of Cyborg Evo Force

 

I fixed the crash problem by removing the driver with joystick plugged on USB (from property function) and installing the last 64-bit driver saitek (6.0.4.1), but the very big problem is another one

 

soon as you activate the FF planes start to pitch up, I do not know if it is the fault of the driver, but I can say that the problem exists only when is active the force feedback

the problem is only whith IL2 (Rise Of Flight work fine for example)

The same problem happens with a "wingman RUMBLEPAD" by logitech, soon as you activate the FF planes start to pitch up like the Cyborg Evo Force

 

it is as if the center of the joystick would shift some degree to the south soon as you activate the FF.

 

i spend a lot of time to fix this problem...  before i became crazy, please, can you tell me how can i install the 6.2.2.4 driver on my cyborg evo froce?  because installation program (made for Saitek X52 Pro) stop untill i plug in the Saitek X52 Pro and i have a cyborg :-(

try adding another 8gb to the motherboard, GameCock had the same issue and he now runs 16gb ram and states the game now runs more smoother.

 

ram is cheap right now.

Ok, update time.  About a week ago my experience dropped even further.  The game would restart my computer as soon as I started it.  So I had pretty much given up for the time being with  BoS/BoM.  Then earlier today I noticed that my hard drive was running continuously and every thing was slower than usual.  I started poking around and went into task manager and processes and noted that svchost was taking up 50 to 75% of my cpu capacity with nothing running!  I did a search and found out that there is a problem where Windows auto update scheduler goes nuts and uses up huge amounts of cpu capacity.  I turned it off and svchost dropped back to next to nothing in cpu usage.  I fired up this game and bam!  It works!  Better than ever.  So, as Mastif guessed it was a local problem.  Just had to find the right local problem.

Ahh yes. That's a semi common but difficult to resolve (sometimes) problem with Win7. I had a family member computer do this constantly under Win7 and it kept eating the 2GB of RAM in that system in seconds. It was brutal. No issues since we updated her to Win10

I had that as well on one of my computers. What you can do is just let the computer on overnight. In my case, it took about 5 hours until the updater finally found some updates. I followed through and svchost behaved ok after that.

i found the JU88 so difficult to handle on take off...the a/c kept veering off to the right (even with full rudder and adjusted throttles). Is there some sort of special trick to this bird?

 

Hey mate. She is a bit squirrely, but I have never had that problem.

 

From memory '0' is the key to select/ deselect both engines. Maybe that is the problem?

 

Are you starting engines separately? Or have a spilt throttle?

BlackSix announcement first said 1200GMT but was then edited to 1400GMT. I guess they needed some more time...

They did say that the campaign would be enhanced. I dont expect any miracles but it should be in the direction of the scripted scenarios for the BOS campaign. Correct me if i got that wrong.
