Looking for clarification.

 

Another ditched incident.  Flew a Pe-2 bomb run and received fuel leaks and engine damage during attack.  (Mission link:  07.10.2016 04:39:44)  Was not able to make it back to base but did make it to the east side of a large friendly city and belly landed.  The plane was in one piece after landing.  I was not captured.  It treated the plane as lost, not as ditched and never put it in the ditched repair "counter". 

 

I assume the following still applies.  Is engine damage a critical factor in determining what is in excess of the "minimal damage" and thus not be treated as ditched?

Unfortunately so do i need to complain about this player, did jump in to my gunner seat and just shoot up the wing.

In my experience, any person who's callsign contains the words "cool" or "ace" --- definitely does not possess these advertised attributes.

I would like to see some clarity on this as well for the specific criteria.   If what you're saying is accurate, then I think this would require some revision, because then it's less of a competition and more of an award who has the most time to play.   

 

I also already have BOK so this doesn't affect me; however, I have noticed most of the German team scratching the bottom of the stratosphere and bombing ramps with pilots on it rather than actually destroying target objectives--- thus losing the ground war.

As a pilot who is currently in the top 5 I disagree.

First I have BoK and second I have Fighter, Jabo and Bomber missions. I am sry if I don't mow the lawn and I don't level bomb from 3k. Imho I attack when the risk to get damaged, to die is below a reasonable percentage.

I don't know why we have to generalize pilots and their behavior.

 

Why the germans losing the ground war lies in a bad prioritization of tasks. For example, they attacking the defenses while on the defense themself. Or defending airfields which are less important than others. etc.

I hardly believe that the loss of battles is to be blamed on the top X% of the team. its more the average skillevel across the team which is important.

I don't think you're totally wrong in this case, but I think we should make a point to avoid any jokes etc. about other pilots based on age.

 

As a community, beyond TAW or any specific server, we need to be inclusive of people of all ages. Maybe we don't want to be flying with 10 year olds, but do we want kids seeing this and being turned off from the game, the community and the genre? (since this is the best the genre has to offer...)

 

I've heard over and over on this forum that "flight sims are a dying niche" so turning around and joking about another pilots age is probably not in our best interests. I say this as someone who is just 24 and started simming with Red Baron when I was probably 8 and then the original Il-2/PF/1946 through my early teens... I was terrible through all those years and am probably still- maybe not to the extent of shooting off my teammates wing but my point is meant more generally than this particular incident.

 

Apologies for the rant but I felt this was worth saying. I'm not asking you all to go flying with a 10 year old every evening- just don't be making fun of them for being 10  :salute:

Tonight we were making a strike to the final target towards the end of the map while a questionable pilot, TPAKTOPUCT, demonstrated some even more questionable maneuvers...This video demonstrates what seems to be a 40G S-turn to single out and ram one of the players that seems to have a negative rapport with TPAKTOPUCT and shows him taking ZERO damage upon impact. Notice the 109 takes the impact and reacts to hitting the La-5, so this isn't a case of server/client desync. Multiple people witnessed this and are suspecting the use of icons, simplified physics, and the "unbreakable" setting that allows no damage during impacts. These settings have been known to be manipulated using hex editors for editing difficulty settings during online play by cheaters.

This shows just one instance but instances like this happen multiple times while he's on. It's starting to become more than a nuisance for players.

I've watched that youtube clip a number of times, and will reserve final judgement until I download the track and play it back.

 

My initial thoughts were, wow - that was a very suspect high speed turn with some desync at the end for the collision/kill - with a huge rate of closure that seemed also very off. Then I played the video back some more.

 

I think the first segment of that youtube clip is not a 1:1 speed - making that turn look worse that in was? The smoke, cloud and and wing tip condensation are moving faster than I normally recall?

 

I've been on the receiving end of the same desync collision thing at WOL a few times. I wouldn't be calling that out as cheating. You can see he attempts to avoid the collision by pulling up and stalling a wing.

 

Anyway, Ill find some time in the next day or so to download and play the actual track.

unless it's speed up by editing, i think it's not. the explosion looks normal and all the sound aswell. I think you don't get any sound if you speed up the replay ingame.

From memory sound does go away.  Interesting.

Recorded tracks do strange things, especially to planes far away from the person recording. Most of the time is related to the timing, in one of my tracks I see my wingman coming to shoot a bandit, in the track he starts to shoot very late and continues shooting for a good 2-3 seconds after he made his pass, but in his screen/in his end he stopped shooting as soon he got past the bandit.

Gentlemen/ladies,

 

A big hello from Nigeria where my ancestors weren't exactly the air-jousting type, so as you may well imagine I'm pretty lousy at this but then again I love it to bits. Yesterday though - quite magically - I shot a Yak off the tail of a 109 on WOL and didn't believe I was the one who'd managed this so - I can't find the words - so breezily.

 

So now I'm registered on TAW and read the rules though I haven't gone airborne yet. I'm worried about a few things. One is my frequent disconnects. Mostly these are due to pub power cuts which are very common where I live. On WOL when the lights come back I can always climb back into my 109 and go soaring once more. But here it seems Im KIA and my stats will be reset. As a side note, this isn't a deal breaker in any way, but it means my resets will be rattling away insanely.

 

I'd also like to know something about registration. You see this is my second registration cos immediately after the first attempt I tried to log on but was promptly kicked and told to go register. Does this mean one has to register every time I wanna fly, or is it after each map rotation? Or was this even a bug? I've seen the scoresheet of registered players and my thought was that with so many kills next to some names those guys had to be either sleeping on their consoles - or else they are only registered once and that's all.

 

My last worry is on the issue of idle time and being kicked from the server as a result. Speaking from my experience on WOL I recall a day I landed from a mission and sat in my cockpit by the side of the RW exchanging a nice banter on chat with a fellow player and I was kicked for being idle. Since TAW is "real time" cannot a player do as he pleases inside the cockpit since it is actually his loss for being 'inactive'? Oh, and I Just enjoy waiting just a little off the RW watching others take off and land. Does my inactivity on TAW wrongly clog the server, or what?

 

Right glad to be here and thanks to the mods behind this server. The concept is immersive and thus a very sound one.

If you disconnect in an undamaged plane, it should count as still flying and not give you any penalties

 

Make sure you registered your name exactly as it shows ingame. New registrations are only required every time a new campaign starts.

The video is not edited in any way. Only the last segment is slowed down via the track recorder in game. He should not have been able to make that turn without stalling, or at the very least blacking out even a little bit, also with the abrupt angle he took as he hit the la5, he should have stalled out completely. What we see instead is an intentional wing dip.

 

Also, why didn't he go for the other easy targets that were in front of him? This seemed to be an intentional pick on someone he REALLY wanted to kill. I think he knew who he was going for which tells us he has icons on...which would explain how he's finding so many people to kill every sortie.

2 or 3 people in the group around the La5 witnessed this directly as it happened. This track recording is from the La5's computer. He sent it to me after the match ended.

 

Your theory doesn't explain the high G s-turn and subsequent lack of stall.

The mechanic of losing all the ditched planes makes no sense for me, frustrating and unrealistic, a new pilot could take the plane of a dead one, is just my opinion. Loosing the combat misions is a good idea, but if we gonna stay with this system I suggest  adding more slots of every plane to prevent massive loss of ditched ones.  :salute:

I am on Hawx's side. Since the beginning of the campaign I have been struggeling to have something to fly, and keep getting pushed to 0 planes. While in the last campaign I had all the planes. So it's either a russian side problem (as you can't really run) or it's a bit of a harsh adjustment.

Based on my experiences from the last campaign, being on the edge of having something flyable is inherit to the Soviet side. I currently have more planes that I could wish to fly with the Germans which is a very peculiar feeling in itself too...

 

But then again, Germans don't have dedicated flyboys that operate when everyone else is sleeping. It all evens out in the end ;)

Very nice. Whats interessing to see is that for example the propellers of the la5 didn't bend. There is surly something to improve in the Networkstuff of the Gameengine. The Maneuvers looked way less out of this world.

Who flies in a duel that will understand how such a turn is made, and even without stabilizers. And on my track looks quite normal turn. You also have a couple of good duelists, ask them (I met in the sky WT).

If your hours are operation are the same as last night, then I disagree with your claim, as it is not representative of the player base.

 

The Allies team greatly outnumbered the Axis the time I was on last night - 26 Allies to 8 Axis when I jumped into the server last night.  At that point we were still in possession of Gromo, Plesovskiy, and Novo.  I see that has changed and all three airfields have switched.

 

Persistent campaigns with a global playerbase do make a challenge, when half the populace sleeps the other half moves the map. 

 

Any time I have logged on I have seen pretty strong teamwork and efforts for coordination amongst Axis fighters and bombers attacking and defending the objectives.  I like to belittle the enemy, too ;)

look at this. I shoot donw the 109 and the server come to lag (i mean its not only lag, all game actions become slowly). After that my plane lost 2 wings and the tail?

 

WTF i dont hit anything and not in a dive. How my plane blows up from sky without any shot? 

I have no idea. DServer logged those events.

 

What the actual f*ck is going on here? This is clearly not a product of lag or desync...it's blatant invulnerability. Is one of the LG guys straight up cheating??

It would be total stupidity to use cheats on TAW server by us where every event is logged and clearly seen in sortie details, don't you think. I have been working on the script for more than 1.5 year (for hour or more every day). One cheat and all my work is lost and server is compromised. LG_Leon has reinstalled the game, if such situation will repeat will have to ban his account.

 

Strange experience for me as well yesterday. We bounced with 3 la 5 a lone ju87, LG pilot. Full HE ammo for us.

 

Me and a squad mate cleary saw a lot of impact on him... But nothing. We did only one pass. .... The gunner shot the two of us in 2 second, cutting the wing of mt wingman.... Killing my engine (the cut down wing seem suspicious also.... I think the server registered a collision as my wingman was very close .... But the 87 was still intact)

 

Game was not laggy at the moment , but I guess there was HUGE synchronisation issues. TAW stats do not even record a hit from us in the 87. He was reported shot down by aaa shortly after.

 

I do not think this is cheating (especiallt coming from the hosting team) but something was seriously wrong. From what I saw on screen , no chance we missed him ... And no chance he survived the bounce.

 

Sadly I did not made a track, but it look pretty close from that ju88 video.

 

Anyway still having great fun on the campaign.

Just merely a suggestion, but I think that you should split this, and only give out two copies of BOK for this season/campaign and two for next season/campaign.  This way, only the winning coalition qualifies to be evaluated for the max AK and max GK rewards.  Unfortunately, right now there are too many pilots that are only playing for the BOK copy and not helping drive their side to actually WIN the season/campaign... updating the qualification of the reward might encourage this.   :)

I registered, and when I get into the game, it still says i'm not.  Went back to web site, and tried to log on and it gives me a password/user incorrect..  I tried a password recovery,  got a  new password still says incorrect.  Game still says I'm not registered.  I tried to re register with a different name, but game still tells me i cant play.  Confused.  Any idea?

You have been banned for having many accounts. 

 

Could be possible to have a little map to navigate in a easier way?

The event of "pilot end mission" was just before his death event. The script updates pilot's profile by events from spawn to "pilot end mission". It happen sometimes.

 

The mechanic of losing all the ditched planes makes no sense for me, frustrating and unrealistic, a new pilot could take the plane of a dead one, is just my opinion. Loosing the combat misions is a good idea, but if we gonna stay with this system I suggest  adding more slots of every plane to prevent massive loss of ditched ones.  :salute:

Regarding TPAKTOPUCT pilot (=SRS= Finn*19): a few day ago his AK per hour was lower than e.g. FF*BELKA - so he is not the only one who frequently shot down enemy planes. As we can all see his video is little different from the previous one. I don't know him but maybe people who fought against him in other tournaments (event back in old Il-2 '46) may tell if he is a good pilot or not.

I don't know if he uses cheats and it's not clear now as I thought before. TPAKTOPUCT please put your track files that we can analyze it.

I did some mistakes on start of campaign and have to fly italian brick to get some better planes. Ok, my fault.

I'm working really hard to shoot down some ac and staying alive.

I know that airkills are the precious one here. Ok.

But shooting down planes which burning already .....

 

So - next one who will steal kill in that way from me will be hunted and I will try to shoot him down.

I'm fed up with this. I understand that  Il-2 or Pe-2 with thin grey smoke can fly long way and if someone will shoot him down while I can't fihish him - no problem.

But planes which is burning is lost already.
