Elem Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Ok skinners, I'll start the requests with this one... 1
Obelix Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 It could have be light grey in place of sand 6th IAP of 7 IAD of the Pacific Fleet, photographed on Uglovoye airfield ( not too far from Vladivostock) on August 18, 1943. 1
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 (edited) Obelix, the photo isn't showing. On a side note, from the caption, aren't these different aircraft flying in different theatres anyway? Plus the latter if photographed in August 1943 could explain the different colours since grey was only fully introduced in the second half of 1943. Edited December 23, 2015 by Lucas_From_Hell
Obelix Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 It's a possibility, yes. It could had be repainted after. We could made both "version"
Danziger Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Still no template eh? Oh well, the guys deserve a good holiday.
Finkeren Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 This 3 (4) color sceme is one of my favourite MiGs: http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/mig3/42.html
Zargos Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 (edited) Hello, Made in a few minutes from the dds file of the default skin extracted with unGTP : This bird has definitely an outline of a racer ... Merry Christmas Edited December 24, 2015 by UF_Zargos 5
beepee Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Made in a few minutes from the dds file of the default skin extracted with unGTP I think I will be downloading unGTP from the link in the R.O.F site. Does it come with instructions? Or is it easy to use?
Danziger Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Very nice Zargos I was waiting to see what you will make for this beauty I still fly your MiG-3 skins for 1946
Weegie Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 This 3 (4) color sceme is one of my favourite MiGs: http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/mig3/42.html That is very nice indeed
Danziger Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 (edited) I would love a winter distemper like this one http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/mig3/white40.html Also the one from 1946 in my avatar would be awesome as well but I don't know of any source for it. Obelix Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 As a Flying Tigers' fan, I would begin with this one:
Zargos Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 I don't know which skin I'm going to make first !
Feathered_IV Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 I think I will be downloading unGTP from the link in the R.O.F site. Does it come with instructions? Or is it easy to use? I just drag and drop the GTP file I want to open right onto the unGTP.exe icon. It starts working straight away and unpacks everything into a new folder titled "(NULL)"
beepee Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 I just drag and drop the GTP file I want to open right onto the unGTP.exe icon. It starts working straight away and unpacks everything into a new folder titled "(NULL)" Thank you Feathered.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Some resources for the brave - they're common but in case anyone doesn't know them: http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww2/f/457/1/0#66(12 pages, different variants) http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/mig3/mig3.html(probably the best single resource for Soviet war aviation in English) 1
Zargos Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Hello, Since we don't have the official template yet, I've decided to make my own one from the default skin file. All is new : panel lines, rivets, etc... Here is the skin as it is now (WIP of course) : Many, many, many things left to do ... 1
Jason_Williams Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Discussion of Mig-3 skins goes here. Jason
Hollywood_ Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Some one please make this ASAP, the full squadron, not just 1 lol :D 1

Feathered_IV Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Nice one Spektre. A well deserved upvote from me. For all the Russian speakers among us, does anyone know what the slogan is that's written on the MiG in the far background?
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Now that we ifnally have the template it's time to take a break from Luftwaffe skinning I guess This one is in the pepeline: 2
310_cibule Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 (edited) Hi Feathered, I can't read that one (too small) but another one from the same squadron: За партию большевиков (For the party of bolsheviks) in two lines http://www.easymodel.net/index.php/Index/ProductDetail/id/172.html It might be the one from the last depicted plane. =HH=Pauk Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 16th GvIAP Aleksandr Pokryshkin, circa 1942 OIAE Baltic Fleet. very good skins! thank you!
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Nice work Reflected! Just some minor critique from my side, I think the colours for the second and third skin are not quite fitting (too much brown) . Looks nice neverthanless Also, tovarisch, here's White 40! Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/xa09qsfj3861iq8/Mig-3s_Black_Nose_White_40_by_5tuka.rar 1 9
Reflected Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Thanks for the feedback. Actually the problem wasn't the hue. It's the exact one taken from actual paintchips. But it was too desaturated, so it looked greyish brown. I adapted the color, and updated the download links. 7
Finkeren Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Trying my hand with a skin for the first time ever, but I'he run into a small problem: When I make a DDS file to track my progress and try to view it in the skin viewer, the textures criss cross all over the plane, as if the skin image is flipped around. Can someone post me a picture of what the skin looks like in PhotoShop so I can check if my skin file is somehow flipped?
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I think the colours are spot-on now, definitely compatible with the Soviet aircraft you find in museums.
