Yogiflight Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 Yes thanks guys for your continuous work. I am, too, looking very much forward to BOBP with Cold Start. One question, will we get the radio beacon again? Or is it not possible anymore because of coop mode?
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 Thanks to murleen and Pat for their hard efforts and great work...
Buffo002 Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Hello, I want to ask if it is possible to create a dynamic generator like your PWCG for IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover? This game is missing a lot. Thank you for answer . Buffin

We are hoping to release a career mode for CloD in the future, however. 4

Thanks. PM me if you need to talk about the changes I made to the runways. The best of both worlds (takeoff into the wind and not crashing into tents) is possible but will take a bit of design work. Also, I am changing the living snot out of the code at the moment - all around ground units and hopefully not impactful to runways and takeoffs, but still - something like 350 files and no doubt several thousand lines of code. The major change is committed but some more coming ... again, all around ground units so hopefully no overlap. 1
Hoss Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Cold starts would be fantastic........... Thanks Murleen for the selfless work you and Pat do for the community. I'm sure it puts a strain on "Life". 361st had a really good PWCG mission last night, was ten times the intensity of anything we have run into on multiplayer. Had nine breathers flying in Yellow and Blue flights, blue high cover and we both got jumped around the same time. Lost about a third of the flight, but still had a blast. Thanks for your commitment to making fantastic options for cooperative and competitive missions. We are waiting for Murleen to finish his work before we attempt another Competitive Cooperative with additional Allied and Axis Squadrons. Cheers Hoss
dburne Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Thanks so much for all your hard work and tireless persevering guys! You are amazing! 30 missions into my Spit Mk IX Bodenplatte campaign now, and having an absolute blast! 1
YuriAzrel Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 (edited) Hello, I see that there's the PWCG Music file on the download page, i tried extracting the Audio folder to IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\PWCGBoS\BoSData but i don't hear any sounds? How am i supposed to install it? As for the PWCG squadron skins, i just extract the content to the IL2 main folder right? Edited December 9, 2019 by YuriAzrel

maaz Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Really enjoying this addition, thanks Pat! One issue we're having is if the mission is designated as ground attack, then any enemy air kills are not being logged. Also, at what part of the process is the AAR data generated? I found once that If I let the server roll to the next mission (a repeat of the current one) then the AAR would be gone. What is the best way for all to finish the mission so a correct AAR is generated? 1
SCG_motoadve Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 (edited) Is Lapino map available? What dates do I need to choose to be able to fly in this map? Edited December 11, 2019 by SCG_motoadve
PatrickAWlson Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 @maaz PWCG uses the mission name and latest time stamp on the logs to figure out which log set to use for the AAR. If you fly the mission again then the mission file name in the logs will be the same but the time stamp will be later, so PWCG assumes you meant to refly the mission and it uses the later log set. Two sets of logs for the same mission cannot be applied to the same campaign date. Not sure I understand the AAR question. AAR = After Action Report = Combat Report on the PWCG menu. The logs are generated by the game (not PWCG) as you fly the mission. You then reenter PWCG and file a combat report. PWCG reads the logs generated by the game to determine what happened in the mission. PWCG then does a bunch of other stuff to simulate stuff happening to all AI that did not fly in the mission. If you are playing competitive coop then air to air resolution is potentially problematic and there is nothing I can do about it. With lots of people involved collecting and submitting claims is unrealistic, so for competitive coop I depend completely on the logs. Problem is the logs are sometimes not that good. They sometimes declare a plane to be crashed when it should be shot down. @SCG_motoadve PWCG does not support Lapino, just the major battle maps.
SCG_motoadve Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Thanks When do we get to use Lapino? Is it in the Career game?

Yogiflight Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Just now, SCG_motoadve said: So what is the purpose of this map ? just quick missions? Or was it made for tanks? No it was released much earlier than the first tanks. It is just a small map for exercising, I guess, like the Novossil....(I can't remember the correct name). Just an additional map, that is open to everyone, who owns one of the games, like the customer made Velikjie Luki map. 1
kendo Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 (edited) Lapino is the basic 'starter' map that was released with the Lagg 3 at the very commencement of il-2 BOS early access back in 2014 (I think). At that point the main BOS map was not completed, the Lagg 3 did not have its weapons working yet, and there was no opposition to fly against (109-f4 came a few months later). So Lapino was just a basic quick map to allow people to fly the very early access planes before the main BOS map was completed. Edited December 11, 2019 by kendo 1
Yogiflight Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 This was my guess, but as I started BOS in 2015, I didn't know it.

Thanks Pat, It's just not picking up the air kills in the Combat report (AAR) when we've completed a coop ground attack mission. I did notice on the first step of the combat report that it asks for kills claimed. Do we have to fill this in manually for the kills to be registered to a pilot? Anyway, will do more testing over the week. Such a great app cheers

They will not be awarded otherwise. There should be one tab per human pilot to make claims.
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 (edited) OK so tonight we flew 10 pilots on a ground attack mission hitting troops and 5 of us flew top cover while the other 5 flew the attack run. Our cover flight killed 5 NME aircraft and our attack flight killed a fair amount of the ground troops, but 2 things happened that were what could only be a bug of some sort. 1. There was a flak gun on the friendly side that spawned in the river and I mean it was dead center of the river. weird? 2. Only 2 kills were accounted for out of the 5 planes that were shot down. Not sure what happened there but I compared the screen shot I took from in the stats page of the game, but the PWCG didn't show any other kills but 2, so 3 were missing...I just want to share what is happening with our campaign cause I want you to be able to fix whatever the bugs maybe...Again its a great tool to have as a virtual squadron and I only want to help you improve on it. thanks Pat. Infantry and vehicles in the river are unfortunately a thing. I have no idea where a river is so, unfortunately ground units sometimes end up in them. With kills: if you are playing cooperative are you submitting claims for every human pilot? There should be a tab for every human pilot when you start the combat report to submit a claim. In SP and cooperative kills are not awarded unless a claim is submitted. If you did submit claims were they denied?
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 (edited) Im in the competitive coop and when ever I submit kills for the individual pilots in doesn't allow me to and there's no selection available for what they killed as well, that why it wont allow me to submit it. Do I need to only play coop mode and not the competitive mode? Edited December 13, 2019 by 361st_Bugsy
PatrickAWlson Posted December 13, 2019 Author Posted December 13, 2019 Competitive mode is different. It uses the logs directly without claims. That was my earlier post: the logs are not reliable. The game will tell you one thing but the logs tell you another. I do not do claims in competitive mode because collecting claims for potentially a couple dozen participants won't work. My best suggestion at the moment is keep shooting until the target burns, falls apart, and crashes directly beneath you. That makes it more likely that the game will log a distinct victory. If you watch a badly damaged plane limp along for a bit and crash the game is more likely to log it as crashed (nobody shot it down) rather than shot down. That and help me raise a stink. I have raised this in the bugs section and talked to Jason, who talked to the team. He got a "everything works as it should" response. Unless 1C does a little work in this area I'm sort of screwed.

Is the issue that the logs assign kills incorrectly, different from what the game reports, or is the issue that the logs don't assign kills to victors at all? If the first, this definitely seems like a bug, as you would expect the logs to match what's in game. The victory assignment in game typically feels fair and well calculated. If the logs don't assign kills to victors at all, then maybe this is a feature request instead of a bug report? Either way, I would be willing to throw my two cents in and support the request if there's a good place to do so.

Either way, I would be willing to throw my two cents in and support the request if there's a good place to do so. Both: the logs are different from the combat report splash screen. They are different in that they frequently do not assign a victor. A plane that you shot down in the game and was credited to you on the after mission report in the game is not credited to you in the logs. PWCG uses the claim system and a very lenient fuzzy logic algorithm to pretty much give the claimant what they said they shot down provided there is at least some evidence that this actually happened. In a bit more detail,PWCG collects all of the unallocated plane losses from the logs and does best matching with claims to assign the victor. Without claims the best matching algorithm doesn't have the data that it needs. If I make claims a requirement as I do for SP and cooperative mode then I force the coop host to gather claims for every human pilot involved in the mission. As an intermediate step I could make claims an option for competitive mode. This way if the host can choose his pain point: collect claims or deal with inaccurate logs.
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 (edited) Well that's what Ive been doing is getting all the kills from the players but its one of the fun things about this app is that our squadron will all wait till the mission is over and then we all go over the debrief together, its brings an immersion factor into play when you pilots hear the pilots name and the type of plane that was shot down...weird part of this all is that in the regular Coop mode I don't think its ever missed a kill or plane damaged before and in the Competitive Coop mode that's when I see this happen the most of not catching the kills for pilots. Just my reports. Our next mission, I will take notes and report back to you Pat thanks. Edited December 13, 2019 by 361st_Bugsy
PatrickAWlson Posted December 13, 2019 Author Posted December 13, 2019 In the regular coop mode PWCG fuzzy logic comes into play to resolve the holes in the log files. In competitive coop that is not done for the reasons outlined previously - competitive coop depends completely on the log files. Not using claims was done with the thought that it would not be viable in competitive coop. However, I can try enabling it for competitive mode to see how it goes. 1
SgtHulka Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 I am having trouble in cooperative coop. When I create pilots for a mission they always become"Host" causing an error when trying to create the mission. I have been running your program through the better part of a year with no problems in previous versions. I have just gone to a new PC. Any idea what I can check to correct this? Thanks.
PatrickAWlson Posted December 15, 2019 Author Posted December 15, 2019 (edited) @SgtHulka You have to assign the persona to a player when you create the persona. I am guessing that you have not yet registered any players in your campaign, therefore host (you) is the only option. The following videos show operations for coop campaigns. The second one and third should help. First register the players (30 seconds per player to do that) then create the personas. Create a coop campaign Add a coop user and persona Edit coop personas in a campaign Including personas in a mission Remove a coop user Edited December 15, 2019 by PatrickAWlson
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 (edited) Hey Pat Here's an update...After messing with the advanced settings trying to find the sweet spot. Our mission last night was hitting a Troop facility and transport station. We had 10 pilots and 5 hit the target area while 5 of us flew top cover. We were engaged by two flights of NME planes and man what a mission. We had at the end of the mission 13 air kills 5 ground targets destroyed to the loss of one pilot... Even my pilots said that was the best mission we had to date....So thanks man for a great tool. My only concern is Im not getting any escort missions even though Ive turned the setting up to 1000 in the advanced settings....is there a way you can check it out. I have all of my other settings for different missions around 100 to 400 but escort I set to 1000 just to see if I can get it to produce just one escort mission but after 30 attempts I gave up...Just an update though...thanks @Hulka Ive added all my players like that in your screen shot then I only pick me as host. I then go into the campaign and add pilots to my squadron....Once you have created your pilots you can then add them to the missions...You only need one host though, at least that's how I do it. Watching Pat's videos helped a lot though... Edited December 15, 2019 by 361st_Bugsy
PatrickAWlson Posted December 15, 2019 Author Posted December 15, 2019 Host is a default human player- it's you, the guy running the campaign,. All of the other participants have to be registered as human participants. In the mission assignment each human player is allowed only one persona in the mission. Persona is a virtual pilot in the campaign. Only one "real you" can fly at a time, but there is no reason why you can't play multiple personas in a campaign. You just can't include all of your personas in a single mission because ... well, you can't inhabit multiple planes in one mission. So when the mission gets generated you pick which persona you want to be for the mission. PWCG enforces that only one persona associated with a human participant can fly.
Deacon352nd Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 I'm having the same problem as Sgt. Hulka. Anyone I add is listed as a "Host". And the link you posted for "add a coop user or persona" seems to be broken so I can't follow exactly what you want me to do to add users before adding them to a mission.
PatrickAWlson Posted December 16, 2019 Author Posted December 16, 2019 @Deacon352nd Please read the responses above and checkout the videos, especially : Add a coop user and persona
jasta11ace Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 Hi Pat, I'm in Single Player. So far I have started at least five campaigns flying the P-51. Everything works fine with lots of action until about mission 18 or 19, then no EA contact. After that I flew 6 missions with the same results. The first four of these missions I checked the claims list and there were only Ju-52's, which didn't appear. The last two missions the claims spaces were blank. I can't believe we ran out of Germans in 1944.
Deacon352nd Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 Thanks Pat. I finally got to see that you tube video and it explained everything I needed.
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Pat what does the binary do in the settings, can I turn it off in my settings. Thanks
