Bando Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Glad you got it working Gump. The player you can't recall was probably Sokol1. He's a very friendly chap here on the forum. 2

Wuerger Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 (edited) Anyone here with a Microsoft stick who would be so kind to post his joystick settings for x, y and z-axis? Got no problems whatsoever with plane "bouncing" in IL-2 1946, nor Cliffs of Dover. Planes are absolutely stable there. Using flight sims since 2002 and am a bit familiar with yoystick settings but fail to stop the plane bouncing in Bos. If I tear the stick backwards f. ex and let it loose the plane ist bouncing up and down and up and down several times. So it seems not likely that this has to to anything with joystick input. It just takes the plane to get stable again. Same with y and z axis. Tried of course several settings with stabilizer. ;-/ Any help appreciated. Thank you. Edited November 19, 2015 by Wuerger
216th_Jordan Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 If you let your stick go in the mittle of a turn then it will do exactly that: oscillate. that is, however, depending on the damping factor, but it should still oscillate a little.

I received great advice somewhere earlier in this thread.I had the exact same problems .As far as i remember you go to settings & find each of the vectors& push sensitivity to about 80% on each and adjust dead zone to between 5 & 10 - not too much ,I found I had the most problems with Yaw ( rudder) and these settings helped.I've fine tuned pitch & roll back from 80% to about 60% and also narrowed dead zone a bit. These changes made an immediate difference- not perfect but much much better in Normal settings.I still prefer to play the campaigns & missions with Custom settings ( if allowed) to get really reliable control back. I am using the PWCG beta most of the time now to do this. One day I'll replace my old reliable FFB stick but it works so well in other sims that I can't quite part with it yet! I hope this helps!
Wuerger Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Your advice was really helpful, thanks a lot. Not perfect however, as you mentioned, Blitzen. It already improved, when I set sensitivity of x-axis to 70% before I posted, so this might be the right place to start experiments from. As I read of several guys in English and German forums with the same problem I find it a little irritating that standard joystick settings obviously lead to problems for a lot of guys in BoS whereas IL-2 l946 ans CoD work fine with standard settings (at least planes are stable). Newbies to flightsims might be a bit overwhelmed by the necessary fine tuning in BoS. Looking forward very much to the new Russian joysticks, as BoS imho needs a hotas system for the numerous settings to be made... ;-) Thank you very much indeed again!
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 (edited) Weurger it might be stick specific and/or wear. I use a warthog without curves with no problem. I do use a 100mm extension though. Edited November 20, 2015 by [LBS]HerrMurf

I use a MS Sidewinder Pro FFB stick and use no curves...tried it, hated it. Likewise for my CH Fighterstick, no curves. I do use a bit of curve on my rudder pedals, but that's just for ground handling reasons.
Gump Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 there is a freeware pgm that will actually show (graph) the output of each axis of your joystick. it is very handy and might reveal a previously unknown problem with your joystick, especially if you've got some mileage on your stick. . with this pgm, i found my stick to be very noisy just as it entered an axis toward a single direction. the sensitivity/dead zones helped, but the thing that really helped was the noise setting (in the game) for this issue. i never would have suspected this if not for that little joystick tester program.
Wuerger Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Hm, to be honest, I don't believe my stick is the problem as there are not the slightest problems using it in IL-2 1946 and Cliffs of Dover. Perfect reaction and smooth. As a few other guys reported of "bouncing of plane nose in BoS as if plane was fixed on a rubber band", I put my question here. Can't believe that all joysticks of these guys have got malfunctions... Anyway, will look for the freeware pgm Gump recommended. Thank you all!
