M.C. 202 Series 8 Skins

@Kampfbiber;  It may be your 3rd skin, but at least you had a go which is what counts. I keep telling myself I too must give it a go, and there's nothing to stop me and yet I still haven't.

So good on you for posting it, flaws and all! :salute:

Thinking about doing some skinning again. I could do some of them. If you could help me with finding png's of the emblems it would be really helpful!

Thank you, I'll  work on it

Sure! I'm making progress too, for example on the La-5 FN I did recently. The MC202 template isn't that easy compared to it.

Playing in the Greek Fire campaign from Jaegermeister, I remade a little the skin of the Macchi C.202 Folgore, which is in this campaign.
If you want to replace the default skin in this campaign, then you need to rename mine to "MC202s8_RAF.dds".

Skins are made on the basis of a template from ICDP.

Macchi MC.202 "Folgore" captured by the allies in Sicily, Pachino Airfield, Summer 1943 marked British and returned to the 3 Sqn RAAF.

@E69_julian57 Hello there! A while ago you made this M.C. 202 skin for the 22. Gruppo Caccia. it was for another individual, but I was wondering if you could be so kind as to send it to me as well? if you could remove the writing on the cowling that would be awesome too but I don't mind it if that's too much work.2018_3_19_14_20_30.jpg

This image kind of stuck in my head along with some others and I started doing the skin only I worked from memory so the end result is a bit different. I was also confused by the fact that the Black 16 was missing in some of the photos which are all associated with Emil Poidinger and Black 16. Anyway, thanks for the great pictures and also to ICDP for providing a great template.

The aircraft in the pictures (shown in an earlier post in this thread https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/17741-mc-202-series-8-skins/?do=findComment&comment=285063) are supposedly of an MC-202 of II./JG108. "Black 16"  (MM9691) and it was flown by Emil Poidinger when he crash landed it in 1944. However the cammo patterns look slightly different and the black 16 is not shown in all of the photos. I might try recreating a closer likeness but I do like the way it turned out anyway. Hope you will try it out.

Update.....

I worked more on the skin to get it closer to the b/w photos..

I think the MC202 is the plane we have that looks most like the He112 (a plane that flew many missions on our new Odessa map). I have no idea how to make skins, but if anyone is interested:spacer.png

Preferably with no code on the side!

Thx! 🙂

Hello @Sandmarken
I will also try it, to see what comes out.

Great job Julian! Now the question arises: do you fly it with 2x12.7mm + 2x7.7mm MG's or 2x12.7mm + 2x20mm MG151? The He-112 had MG/FF's in the wings. So the 7.7mg's would look more accurate but the MG151/20 gunpods would be more accurate in terms of the caliber.

I think the 20mm because it will also slow the plane down, the mc202 was a bit faster than the he112.

The romanians used the he112 as a ground attack plane i guess in part because it had the extra firepower of the 20mm guns. But for pure looks i think the guns inside wing is best. It looks very good in my test mission when flying as part of the ambient air traffic. 😁

OH No!  I knew I should have bought the Mc202!  This is great to have it as the He-112!  I'll use it as A/I for sure.
