I'm really curious about the P-40 in BoM, since I just recently experienced the awesome A2A Accu-Sim P-40.

Never knew about this unique hydraulic system of this Aircraft, where You need to hold down a button on the stick to operate the hydraulic pump in order to raise the Flaps and landing gear.

That has been discussed to no end the last few months. On paper the P-40E is pretty damn bad (worse than the LaGG-3 on most parameters) but it might have a few surprises up its sleeve.

 

Otherwise it will at least be a fearsome bomber killer and ground pounder the way the LaGG-3 is now.

It's heavy, and big winged. It turns and dives and retains energy. Bf109s and Fw190s can't just dive away from it.

It is also quite sturdy, and 4 or 6 12.7mm guns are nothing to mess with.

 

That being said, this source says the 126 IAP-PVO took their P-40Es to Stalingrad and shot down 23 Bf-109Fs in little over 2 weeks, but also had all but four of their 18 aircraft destroyed or severely damaged all in the first week. The numbers don't match the ones in this article (in Russian), but either way, as extensively discussed here there were enough aces who managed to do a lot of damage with it, so it boils down to the pilot - much like aces like Shestakov, Galchenko and Grigoryev loved their LaGG-3s.

The operating manuals for the later models describe the exact same procedure for operating the flaps and gear.

Somehow I doubt that they'll model the use of the hydraulic system to that extent. I wouldn't complain mind you, but it seems a bit over the top to me, given the other things that have been automated. Still, I can't wait to find out...

We plan to complete this addon to Battle of Stalingrad this fall. All maps, missions and new campaign entered the testing stage.

I doubt we will see anything. Jason just posted that the P-40 entered Beta. That means we'll have an update coming soon, but I wouldn't hold my breath for a DD today.

Sorry no DD today. The team is hard at work on the P-40 beta and didn't have time. They are trying to get this thing out the door. In lieu of a true DD I'll post some more pics of the P-40 this weekend to scratch the itch.

Tuesday is too early I think. It only just hit beta.

 

I think we might just enter into October before we get our hands on the Warhawk. It's a slight delay but nothing serious, and the model looks superb.
