You are right, the philosophy of the customer communication is now different and the DD concept is now dead as we knew it.

It goes by Announcements now which dates are whenever it will be appropriate. I regret it but so it is. We need to get used fast.

We could even close this thread as it is now legacy.

Yes, you're right.
As much as I loved the weekly DD's, they're done and this thread is obsolete.

The studio management has been working to streamline the process for getting things posted by doing the updates/notices on the website and just posting links in the General section back to them. The same information/link is posted on the other social media platforms for those that don't hang out on the forum. We try to get the info out across the globe as close to the same time as we can.  All of it points back to the 1C website so everyone has equal access to the content.
Rather than doing a duplicate of the 1C website 'news' information in announcements and then linking that to a discussion post as well as a link in the discussion post back to the announcement post, it has been streamlined to a single post in General Discussion.  

I choose to post that same link in the DD today thread solely because it sees a lot of traffic. Just trying spread the word a little quicker.

I'm not saying if he's nice or not, I have nothing against the man. The thing is, I think the standards of work have dropped after Jason's change in this regard. We're used to a different standard here. I think that in this topic, however, a good example is the team from DCS, and here it was very similar if we talk about standards.

DCS does a terrible job of articulating information and actually keeping promises. I rather have less information that is actionable and kept rather than a bunch of things that are teased out with a 5+ year timeline.

Personally, I like the change that DDs and updates are posted to the website first. This way, an update to the RSS feed I use gets updated right away instead of a few days later. Perhaps in an attempt to cater to everyone, the information in the initial post for DD#342 could get put in the Dev Diaries thread in the Announcement section, and then a discussion post with a link to the DD thread could go in the General section?

 

Or maybe not, because then you'd have a crumb trail of hyperlinks to get to the actual news!

They do it differently now, but in my opinion the quality and scope of the last update should alleviate any concerns. They’re emphasizing quality over quantity, and I’m fine with that. 

 

The franchise is in good hands. 
Remember that collaboration with 3rd parties (as far as ‘open door policy’) is in very early days here. As these projects accumulate and build up steam, you will see more and more content in these updates. All is bueno.

I agree, I admit I did fear for the future of the great battles series, but it does look like there is still life in it, and some very interesting aircraft are incoming. Yes we can all say “what about a beaufighter/hs123/do217/etc etc” but I’m just happy there seems to be new stuff coming, which is very positive.

I don't really care about a late war Eastern Front map... if they were to go for another EF map I'd certainly buy Murmansk... I enjoyed the campaigns for that map with the old IL2.

I think it will be Winter War (Soviet-Finnish War). Of course, that's just speculation but it's something that's going on in my bones

none that I know of... we only got the announcement of the next new collector planes,,, nothing about new project or expansions yet.
