I do have skins from you and I have noticed you are using 16mb, just wanting to know why you use 16mb while all others using 21mb, is this because of no use of mipmap.

Hello @Holandés2

Exactly I use 16 mb, my Photoshop gives an error if I put it at 21 mb, the cause I don't know... and of course not mipmap.
Comparing with 21mb skins I don't see any difference and I read that with the cards we use there is no need for mipmap

The skin is based on a photograph of a rebuilt I16 Rata.

The aircraft belonged to the 155th Fighter Squadron when it crashed in 1941/42 and was originally produced in the Gorky aircraft plant No. 21 around 1939/40. The wreckage indicated that some parts (engine and armament) were of the I-16 Type 18, whereas landing gear and the right cockpit door showed a Type 24.

Request: Could somebody make a pink I16 skin please?

I flew one in IL-2 '46 every now and then for the fun of it (got it through netcache I believe). My son (little boy) mentioned this again

couple of weeks ago. We always had a laugh when I flew that around!

Just to suprise him I like to take it up in IL-2 Great Battles ?

Doesn't have to be detailed or weathered.

First time making and posting skins.  The skins are for Ishak which I've been flying a lot recently.

I'm still struggling with getting the colours right, but had fun making these.  The Wings Palette which I used as the reference has slightly conflicting colours, and I haven't found info on colour schemes/paints used by Nationalist Chinese during WW2, so I'm not quite sure what colours to use.  Would like to update them in future if I can find anything in further reading.

Wings Palatte is at best a starting point.  Colors are suspect in value and quality of image used.

The green colour was a Dark Olive Green.  See attached.
And it's equivalent can be ANA 612 Medium Green FS34092. The proper colour can be a mix of medium green and few drops of white and lesser drops of yellow.

There were, as with almost every plane in WWII, variations.  Age, weathering and paint availability would be factors in the actual color.

I often go to Scale Model sites and look for high quality color photos of models.  Many times the modelers use the most authentic colors they can find.

Thank you for the detailed info and tips!  Didn't know that there were variations for each individual planes depending on those factors.  So with a lack of colour photo the best option is to trust the scale models.  In fact I found some scale models online but wasn't sure whether to trust them over Wings Palette.  Now it's time to update the skins!

I grew up in Iserlohn. We had a factory in the IserlohnerHeide. Was born in the Zimmer Strasse but don’t remember the number. The outdoor swimming pool, where as boys we used hang out with the ‘Tommies’ who were actually Scottish soldiers, can still be seen on google maps. I thought it would have been long gone. Everything is so built up now. Left for Scotland in late summer of 1965. Our au pair was called Patsy and came from Liverpool. She was great and also came swimming with us on her days off. My father who had been in the Luftwaffe and finally in the army, as no fuel was available for the aircraft, once found an unexploded Teller mine at the side of the dirt track were we went walking in the woods. Good times.

I like the skin but the numeral 9 does not look like the original 9 in the photo.  Should be pretty easy to copy the original, resize, and color it.  Then the 9 would look super cool.  It would be one of my favorites, if so. ?
