Only came across this track recently. A nice bit of electronica from 2018 by Doctor Flake.

I wouldn't mind knowing where the forest in the video is either... looks a nice place for a psilocybin adventure.

That's really cool. Not the sort of "electronica" I was expecting.

Looks like my backyard in the Qld sub-tropics. It's gone to pot and the local council's on my back. God love 'em.

Great tune Catchov. I've always had time for Beck's music but lost a lot of respect for him as a person when i learned he's one of those Scientology weirdos...but whatever, a good tune is still a good tune. Scientology weirdo or not... ;)

P.S I'm intrigued by the NSFW content I missed in your edited post! ?

Glad you liked it. Doctor Flake has some other nice tunes too,  so check him out!

So I've been a big fan of Arthur Russell in all of his different guises/genres for a number of years now, but I only came across this track recently which is just an absolute diamond... and possibly even my favourite piece of music from him.

Hard to believe it's escaped me all of these years I've been listening to his music....

Anyway, it's a beautiful instrumental composition that has an ethereal/dreamy vibe...the clarinet (?) just trips my switch...the whole thing just works. Love it.

It has that old, smooth reggae  flavor under it. Really cool.

The beat kind of reminds me of this cool thing:

Mmm reggae...we could be here awhile! ?

Mr Lee Scratch Perry and the Upsetters with Max Romeo on vocals - Chase The Devil (1976)

"Chase the Devil" was sampled by The Prodigy for their EDM classic "Out Of Space" (1992)

Here's a Romanian song that became pretty popular few years ago. I didn't care much about it, but it got pretty big.

If there's two things I like it's country and western. Why, I just put 'em both on the old wind-up, slug down a cheap bourbon or two and think about me old dog, gone now, and the wife wot left me and the best friend wot took aaaall my money in a ponzi scheme. Yep, I blame myself, but as the steel pedal guitar whines like an Il2 forum post, the tears start rollin' on down. But hey, I think, I ain't got it too bad. Nothin' worse than dry eyes. Besides, I still got the 18 wheeler though I can't drive it no more on account of paralysis and stuff and them eyes ain't too good now. But I still have the shack even in it's poor state wot with the plumbin' and dry rot 'n'all. Okay the web ain't too good and I can't afford a VR rig let alone build a simpit 'cause of the arthritis but I got me mates, Country and Western ....

This is probably about as "country" as I get. Come to think of it, it's probably not very "country" at all but it does have "country" in the title...so there's that.

Lol no, not country but Interesting. At first, I thought it was Robert Smith doing a demo during rehab.

I bought the CS&N album in 1977. I was a rebel see with punk being all the rage 'n'all. And I let my hair grow. F### you punks!

Anyway, "Cathedral" was one of the tracks and it's like a really big house and continues the theme of Graham Nash songs ....

Let's get serious. This is for all you wonderful people out there from all corners of the globe and your amazing contribution to the inspiring and sometimes surprising choices of toons and pieces that lift the heart into raptures of joy or depths of melancholia. Such is the power of music, the greatest of all human art forms.

Thank you for the music.

@ST_Catchov Underated instrument...the singing is kinda dodgy though... but hey it looks like they enjoyed themselves! ?

Cover versions usually struggle to live up to the original more often than not, although every so often there are outliers that sometimes surpass the greatness of an original...not sure either of these covers qualify but I really like them all the same...

The first cover is Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here". There's been quite a few of covers of it over the years, some noteworthy some pretty forgettable. I came across the bagpipe reggae version recently and was surprised by its greatness!?

Alpha Blondy - Wish You Were Here(2007)

Pretty sure I posted this next cover a long while ago...but it's worth a repost even if I did!

Gloria Gaynors 1978  "I Will Survive" is a disco anthem that is tough to surpass but roughly 20 years after its original release alt. rock band CAKE equalled or even bettered it IMO...the bass and lead guitar with the deadpan delivery on vocals works a treat IMO.

@itsbillyfrazier  I tell you what, it's pretty hard to beat bagpipes, perhaps the greatest of Scottish inventions. And of that there are many. Scotland isn't just a cold, desolate place. But with a reggae beat the cover of "wish you were here" transcends all. I like it ....

As for Cake, well look, nothing beats Gloria Gaynor. Nothing! You know that. But it is an amusing cover I'll give 'em that.

Now you got me in a disco mood. Get your dancing shoes on lad for a bit more of Gloria ....

Disclaimer: {don't worry about the original 1982 thing, youtubers are often morons but they is cool influencers, right}

Hello there. I suppose you thought you were listening to a long playing record just then. Well, you weren't. It's youtube.

But let's go Hammond groove and bust it ....

Well, who doesn't! Legend.

Look, I'm gonna give the amazing Hammond and Mellotron trips a miss for now 'cause Bonnot don't like it. :sorry:

So .... I have another trip in mind that's just a little bit groovy and just a little bit swingin' from a time long, long ago and far, far away ....

She looked amazing and had a great voice. It's such bullshit that her greatest song was plagiarized and ruined by that ugly goat called Celine Dion. ?

Here's the original "The power of love".

Oh Lord I just got up, threw on a few mismatched tattered old clothes, mussed up my hair, adjusted the inside leg (lookin' good) and jeepers man I look like a celebrity. C-E-E-L-E-B-R-I-TEE-E. Drug free (optional) and cool. I felt so swell. I am hype. So I put this together for y'all. Man It ain't no cringe. Dig it!

Here's some really old gear for the young'uns. I'm sorry it's just the way it was .... dunno what it's all about really.

But here's the great and renowned singer and hot chick Kitty Kallen with some band reflecting on how long ago them songs up there ^ really were and the weirdness of time and all that and so on.
