Bussard_x Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Guys, Pre-order for BOM is looking like an April kick-off as of now. Could change still, but this is our current estimate. Much work is needed to be done to the website to support it. But it's coming. Stay tuned... Jason Early access is coming again, great!
LLv44_Damixu Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Very good news indeed, thank you. May I inquire if you are planning to increase the maximum amount of players in multiplayer server on some future update?

Mac_Messer Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Very funny. Almost as funny as that some people take this at face value. Obviously there are no "actual medals" being awarded to anyone, we are just talking about coloured pixels. Not that this was an issue for the same team in RoF: or does this sudden attack of scruples only come into play when the deeds of Soviet Heroes are the issue? I think not. You have to make Steam achievements to get onto Valve's platform, fine. If the 3rd party campaign building is a success then "actual medals" can be added in just like "actual units", "actual skins" and "actual pilots". The change list looks like useful progress, thanks. Don`t forget the "actual coop campaign mp mode". Then we should also stay away from proper historical airplanes and armies and fly for Pink and Yellow side in fokepuffs, messerpits, maks, vaggs, metlyakovs and zilyushins...

Nankeen Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Dear friends, Unfortunatelly we won't be able to deploy the 1.010 version this week. It really needs more quality assurance. We want it to be stable before it goes public. Sorry for making you expect the update this week. All good things take time, no problem. Thank you fo the info. Guys, Pre-order for BOM is looking like an April kick-off as of now. Could change still, but this is our current estimate. Much work is needed to be done to the website to support it. Solmyr Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 and Arsenal VG 33....... I'd sell dad and mom for an Arsenal VG 33-39 !!
dburne Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 And, FWIW, I don't feel the current reasoning makes any sense given that ROF (and every other CFS I can remember) awarded the player with historical medals. Fully agree!! 1
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 (edited) Steam achievements aren't a mandatory requirement for a game to be sold through Steam, there are still quite a few games without them. However, due to their popularity it just makes sense to include them, they don't need to be a reason for excluding something more in keeping with history though. And, FWIW, I don't feel the current reasoning makes any sense given that ROF (and every other CFS I can remember) awarded the player with historical medals. its because Country Military's have Laws against it..for instance its called stolen valor. and more than Likely 777 Studios and 1CGames probably got a lawsuit or a cease and desist letter to stop.. or some one complained, it only takes one well written letter to complain and companies usually stop.. as you may know gaming industries have been losing freedom of speech rights.. lately. soon will only be playing cartoon style back to donkey Cong games.. True but these aren't real physical medals sent to the players in the mail. Legality wasn't cited as the reason they avoided real images.
Chuck_Owl Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Not to mention the cost of the add on 4 engine bombers both in time to produce and to purchase for us end users. I'm still hoping that someone, some day, sees the light and gives us a proper North Africa/Med sim. That would be amazing. Last update from Team Fusion kinda confirmed that the next patch will feature North Africa/Med. 1

Indeed.. and it is an ongoing thing.. I don't know if that is why this happened... but it is happening in games.. True but these aren't real physical medals sent to the players in the mail. avlSteve Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I'll be glad when it gets here. I have lost the airfield several times while in the pattern doing t & g's.

Stolen Valor has nothing to do with the depiction of medals in the game, or otherwise the American medals in Rise of Flight would have been removed long ago. 1
StarLightSong Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 looking forward to BOM and many hosted servers for BOS. . . When I'm back in the land of decent internet speeds this summer.

unreasonable Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) as you may know gaming industries have been losing freedom of speech rights.. lately. soon will only be playing cartoon style back to donkey Cong games.. I think it is more to do with the increasing budgets needing a bigger market to make a return, hence a homogenization and dumbing down to make games accessible to the widest possible market. That and game developers' understandable reluctance to get caught up in unpleasant or even violent reactions from parties keen to take offence, whether the PC matriarchy, islamist jihadis or authoritarian gangster governments. Difficult not to offend at least one of these.... Edited March 16, 2015 by unreasonable 1
StarLightSong Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 game development is going along famously ol' chaps. don't be distracted by medal trivia, keep dogging FM and DM and Coop, LOD and Mod Mode issues, cause the little shite can be played out much later, though it seems the "team" understands that.

I wouldn't have thought it would have such an impact, but the no-mods thing has just turned me into a bystander. I just can't feel any enthusiasm for the product when I don't feel I have the ability to contribute or personalise it. 1

I just can't feel any enthusiasm for the product when I don't feel I have the ability to contribute or personalise it. Ah, I fully expect them to pull a "CA/Total War" here. Once the game has run its course, once they move on to the next project for good and they want good publicity and their name back in discussion, all of a sudden mods will be possible.

IckyATLAS Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 The debate on swastikas and medals made me wonder and think about this topic. So here my few comments on these subjects. WWI and WWII but all the wars before and after the two big ones, have impacted tragically millions of people in their lives at least for those who were still alive after the war and their descendants. It is perfectly normal that some symbols, visuals do create negative reactions. There may even be laws in certain countries that regiment what and how these symbols could be depicted. Same for money, coins and notes. It is illegal to reproduce them even in visual form. The simple act of reproducing a note even on a screen means breaking the law in many countries if not all. Pixels by the way are not virtual, they have a physical existence as a luminous dot on a screen. A plasma dot or an LCD dot, or an e-ink dot, whatever the technology. Where is the difference with metal, paper, plastic, wood or tissue. You can see them and they impact you emotionally, so it has also a direct physical effect. The pixels are not permanent compared to other mediums. No problem, you can print them and they become physical. You can 3D-Print a war medal at home and there it is a perfect copy in plastic. Some 3D printers print metal objects so here you can have it in true metal form. A perfect copy. The underlying question is if it is legitimate (in absolute terms) to modify and transform them to make them more acceptable to some. And here the question is general and not related to gaming. In the middle ages we had the copist monks that would copy old books that would have otherwise disappeared and that through that copying act allowed many books to reach our times. Unfortunately they copied modifying whatever did not suit them or did not suit the morality, politically correct thinking, social behavior rules of their times. Basically what they were doing is denying the past its existence as it was, and make it suitable to the thinking of their times. So we get a blurred and distorted image, and we have to go to great efforts to find what was the underlying truth and reality. Same for paintings or even statues that would not suit the moral code (like nudity etc..) that were modified, without any respect for the artist's "rights". More recently, let me remind you of a very tragic period that was the Stalinist period in the ex. Soviet Union. It is a debate for experts and historians, but it is not far from the truth to say, that the killings that the regime perpetrated on its own population directly or indirectly, through well organized famines, the deportations, the goulag system, the forced work in inhumane conditions to name a few, may have been even larger than the toll of WWII itself. In those times the regime had absolutely no issue in continuously modifying the past to match the present. The worldwide known and typical examples are the "modified" or "adapted" pictures. At that time a photo was a proof of reality. Tempering with it with the tools of that time was difficult. The regime would have teams of expert people working on the negatives to modify and make people disappear as they were eliminated by the regime, or were not any more considered suitable to appear. The modified picture could easily be identified because of the impacts on the image texture, but also to imperfections of the work, like having forgotten to eliminate a shoe or a hand etc.. So you see here my issue. Modifying the past is related to tragic events, similar to those that the symbols related to wars convey. The only right approach I see is to stay with the truth and the reality whatever tragic this reality may be. The past is there and whatever you do, to cancel it is impossible. The only way out is not to repeat again the same errors. But unfortunately our world has still not reached that level of wisdom. 1
Phant0m Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Given that the update shall be going live shortly/longly, will there be a list of the 40+ fixes and changes?
Blitzen Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 I have yet to see the mission details header featured here. How can I have missed it? So far I've never seen stats ( except in Official Campaign mode when I used to get points,)When will developers make this possible in SP missions & third party campaigns?
