Sokol1 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 (edited) Realtek onboard HD audio, 3.1 Edifier speakers, in game sound Stereo, volume 99% (0.96 on Startup.cfg) - adjusted for civilized level on Windows mixer, bitrate High. BTW - When editing the "FLAK" video I notice some peaks on video sound wave form, but no other sound than plane engine are audible. On "_sound.log" file are this: !!! Helyi Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 (edited) I believe I may have found a fix to this issue.(read on, this potential fix may also make sense when you look at Sokol1 aboves log as far as sound limit being reached goes).I've tried all the other suggestions and including lowering front speakers increasing rear and so on to no avail.I was someone who would be able to have their entire plane torn away from them leaving nothing but a cockpit flying through the atmosphere with no wings and no engine and I'd probably still be trying to shoot down the guy in front wondering why I can't roll/yaw Pretty certain if you survived that in real life you'd damn well hear your entire plane being torn away from you so that's not even an argument to argue that goes on here.. There is without a doubt an technical issue with the game engine in this regard.Under startup config edit the Key = sound section:Under Count the default is 32 I believe.I kept doubling it until I finally had hit sounds, for me this occurred at 1024.I still have the occasional lack of hit sound (seems to be if I'm looking at where the sound comes from its significantly louder but I'm fairly certain they are all there now. Even hitting planes in front of me before hand used to be hit and miss whether or not I'd hear them). [END] [KEY = sound] count = 1024 debug_radio = 0 interface = 1 quality = 2 speedenable = true volume = 1.00000I've since changed it to 2048 just to see what happens and if it makes any difference.Give it a go anyway I guess it either does nothing or it does something, but unless they've done a patch recently that I missed I definitely now have hit sounds since I've been playing around with this value.I have a relatively high end machine so those on lower end machines I cannot say whether or not this will impact performance but I had no discernable difference other than gaining sounds I never used to hear before and never knew existed. MarcAnton Posted December 16, 2014 Author Posted December 16, 2014 Anybody here with a soundblaster-Z who has or has no hit-sounds ? BTW LordHelyi your change makes no difference to my sounds. As soon as the shooting plane comes near i hear every bullet but when its shooting from distance the whole plane is falling apart without any sound - only the techno-chat flashes like crazy
=EXPEND=Tripwire Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 MarcAnton - What speaker arrangement are you using? Headphones/2 speakers/5.1 etc?
Oktusha Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 I bought the game yesterday and I came looking due to the fact I wasn't hearing anything. I see I'm not the only one... lol.... I tried to volume "fix" but it really didn't do much for it. In the video, yeah I do not hear any of that at all... not even close....

It does seem to be a game/hardware issue as it effects some but not all. 'Fraid my sounds are heard through the onboard sound set up and through a pair of ancient, crappy stereo speakers. Seems to work fine for me.
=LD=Penshoon Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Could someone who doesn't hear the hit sounds try recording a quick video? I curious.
VBF-12_Snake9 Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Already did. Maybe try reading the thread if curious.

VBF-12_Snake9 Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 It's in this thread and in the bug thread here. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/12261-video-and-sound-settings/
=LD=Penshoon Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 It's in this thread and in the bug thread here. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/12261-video-and-sound-settings/ That's not a video, That's a track file. Track files doesn't record sound, videos does. Also your track is not usable with the current version it seems or it's corrupted cause I get an error loading it. Also don't want to disappoint you but the game doesn't output multichannel. Maybe in the future. Seems like you already know the reason for why you don't hear the sound, use stereo, you can still have the sound played by all of your speakers if you set your surround receiver to 5ch or 7ch stereo. 2) How many channels will be designed the sound by default: stereo, 4.0, 5.1 or 7.1? The sound will be designed for stereo. All sounds and their sources in the project we place correctly in 3D space relative to the listener, even when you using a simple stereo you will perceive the whole sound picture. Supports multi-channel sound requires more work, but given the experience of RoF we have not seen much point in that. In the future this support is not very difficult to make.
VBF-12_Snake9 Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 You come late to the discussion and want to huff and puff. This topic had been hashed over many times. You're not worth arguing with.

I genuinely wanted to help troubleshoot the issue but I will leave it then. Sorry if I offended you or came across as aggressive in some way, was not my intention. I just wanted to help getting the sounds working correctly. Might be a language issue. (non native English)
Uriah Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 OK, did something change with the latest update 1.008? I have not played BoS for a month or so. I have been flying CLoD and coming back to BoS was a shock on the sound. Maybe I have forgotten somethings but now I am hearing welding sounds in the into and wind and music. I deliberately did a single off line mission and let the 109 come up behind me and shoot me. The sound was clearly much loader than I remember. As the Queen of England might say. We are amused.
Oktusha Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 I'm not 100% what has changed or if just a glitch. However I played today after the patch and I'm now hearing sounds such as bullet strikes ect... I was flying a solo ju-87 mission trying to unlock things and there I was just flying along to the way point and wammo, bang, bang... I thought to myself what the @!$!$ was that... lol... I then noticed I was venting something out of my right wing... I looked at the map and I guess I flew over a enemy airfield.
