Jason_Williams Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Everyone, We require your assistance in creating a list of squadrons for both the VVS and Luftwaffe that flew in Battle of Moscow, Stalingrad and Kuban. And this is just for the plane-set we have/will have in the game. The time periods in question are: Moscow: 02.oct.1941 .. 20.apr.1942 Stalingrad: 23.aug.1942 .. 02.feb.1943 Kuban: 17.apr.1943 .. 09.oct.1943 Please list: Squad No. / Name Dates Squad flew in Theater Type of Planes Flown Dates Plane Types were Changed Airfields Please post your information below and try to keep discussions to a minimum. Please try to just focus on providing data. The final list of squads to be included int he first iteration of the Career is up to the team. Your assistance in this thread will help us choose the best candidates to be included. As knowledgeable a we are, we cannot know every squadron in every theater. Jason, Han and Sneaksie 1

hames123 Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Would we be getting a Veliki Luki career? There were only 3 Soviet squadrons in the area, the 3rd, 17th and 222nd Long Range Aviation Divisons, with PE-2s, I believe. Also, for Veliki Luki, we would need AI KVs to participate in the attacks, not just T-34s which always attack in the campaign.
csThor Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Thor - II./ZG26 was not converted to night fighters. It became I./ZG2. Thx, I mixed that one up. Amended.
csThor Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 (edited) Addenum for post #12 by LukeFF (on JG 3 at Stalingrad): Beginning with II./JG 3 (in August, the rest followed in September) JG 3 was withdrawn from frontline service for a period of rest & refit. No missions were flown in that timeframe. It was rushed back to the Stalingrad region after the commencement of Operation "Uranus". Addenum for post #13 by LukeFF (on JG 52 at Stalingrad): I./JG 52 - The Gruppe suffered a breakdown of morale and combat capability following losses and the strain of combat in late October / early November. Following that it was temporarily withdrawn from frontline service to be rebuilt in the rear area of the front. II./JG 52 - The Gruppe was transfered out of the Stalingrad area on September 1 1942 and went to the Kuban region. It was rushed back to the Stalingrad region only after the commencement of Operation "Uranus". III./JG 52 - incorrect. The bulk of the Gruppe was operational over the Caucasus and the advancing 1st Panzer Army (outside the map). Present at Stalingrad was only a detachment of III./JG 52 led by Olt. Otto Decker (following his capture by Olt. Hermann Graf). The detachment contained a Schwarm from every Staffel. The pilots were: 7./JG 52 - Ofw. Zwernemann, Fw. Dammers, Uffz. Meier, Uffz. Koppe 8./JG 52 - Olt. Decker, Lt. Funcke, Uffz. Ermisch, Uffz. Hohenberg - later also: Uffz. Schumacher, Uffz. Lotzmann and Fw. Wachowiak 9./JG 52 - Olt. Graf, Ofw. Fuellgrabe, Uffz. Kalb, Ofw. Suess and later also Uffz. Wolf I./JG 53 - The Gruppe was withdrawn from the Eastern Front on September 27 1942 and transfered to the Mediterranean. Edited October 7, 2016 by csThor

1CGS LukeFF Posted October 7, 2016 1CGS Posted October 7, 2016 Updated my post above for Sch.G.1 at Stalingrad. True, but if we want the player to continue on with III./JG 52 at Kuban, then it might be best to keep this name. The other option would be to just rename the unit when it gets to Kuban, which is something the career generator can handle (it happens a lot in ROF). So, call the unit "Kommando/KG52" on the Stalingrad map and 'III./JG 52" on the Kuban map, perhaps?

1CGS BlackSix Posted October 7, 2016 1CGS Posted October 7, 2016 Guys, for BOK we need information about these two Staffels, I can't find any airfields of their basing 4.(Pz)/Sch.G 2 (Hs 129 B-2) 13.(Pz)/JG 51 (Hs 129 B-1/2) Also, for BoM I need more info about II.(Schlacht)/LG 2 (Bf 109 E-7) Oct 1941 - Kalinin 12.41 - 13.01.42 - Dugino
1CGS LukeFF Posted October 7, 2016 1CGS Posted October 7, 2016 4.(Pz)/Sch.G 2 (Hs 129 B-2) If the info from ww2.dk is accurate, this unit was not located in an area relevant to the game: 30.9.42 - 10.11.42 Deblin-Irena 10.11.42 - 20.11.42 Staraset 20.11.42 - 22.11.42 Tripoli 22.11.42 - 1.43 Bari 1.43 - 6.43 Deblin-Irena 6.43 - 15.7.43 Varvarovka 15.7.43 - 8.43 Orel-West 8.43 - 8.43 Konotop 8.43 - 9.43 Poltava 9.43 - 10.43 Zaporozhye
csThor Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 (edited) II.(Schlacht)/LG 2 is a difficult topic as exact bases are not really known and neither are transfer dates. It is known that they began "Typhoon" from two landing strips called "Moshna" and "Belyy", but I have been unable to find those. It is also known that they mostly operated in the area of Kalinin, being based at Kalinin-Süd on October 21/22 1941 while flying round-the-clock missions against soviet forces attacking 1st Panzer Division. It is also known that the Gruppe was temporarily shifted to Staraya Russa at some point in December 1941 and then showed up at Dugino in January 1942, but again exact dates are not available. As for the Hs 129 ... In early April 1943 only 8.(Pz)/SchG 1 was based in the area (at Kertch V, before relocating to Anapa) with 4.(Pz)/SchG 1 being at Stalino and 13.(Pz)/JG 51 being at Kharkov. It is, however, also known that both of the latter units suffered losses due to enemy fire on May 8 and 13 (4./SchG 1) and May 29 (13./JG 51) near Krymskaya so they must have been transfered into the area in the meantime. But where to? No idea (probably also Anapa). Edited October 7, 2016 by csThor
Gunsmith86 Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 4.(Pz)/Sch.G 2 (Hs 129 B-2) was used in North Africa
csThor Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 4.(Pz)/Sch.G 2 (Hs 129 B-2) was used in North Africa Oh damn, you're right. The two Hs 129 Staffeln of SchG 2 would not appear on the Eastern Front before Kursk.
