Bloyamind Posted November 24, 2022 Posted November 24, 2022 New to BoX! After playing Cliffs of Dover Blitz/Tobruk and DCS (all spitfire all the way) for about a month. I got BoS and BoB in the current sale on steam. One issue I had was not being able to link steam and this IL-2 profile i'm typing with right now. I keep getting #4 email or password incorrect. Is there an easy solution for this? So, for my actual question, I hope i'm in the right place as i'm a new player: I got BoX because I heard that's where multiplayer is at. Something I find lacking in some other sims. I would like to hone my skills against some real players in dogfights, but I find the serverlist to be very eh. haha... non-enlightening. Yes you choose dogfight before seeing the server list, but I have no clue where I could simply dogfight others, without complicated secondary objectives or rulesets. Basically I would like to do quick mission style fights in which i'm completely fine with being outclassed. Is there a place for this? Also: when i'm out of ammo in an online game, is there any way to replenish? For example by landing on an airfield? I tried out one of the practice servers with AI and found a huge brawl in which I took place. Is there any way of recognizing enemy planes easily? I'm used to for example Spitfires vs BF109's, I recognize the wings... But what if i'm fighting the entire roster of BoS and BoB hihi... I found out by being shot down. Works only once in real life. Thanks in advance! Feel free to remove this post if it's not in the right place... I thought this is where I would start :).

dpf4052dpf4052 Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 Want to get this Sim; but I want to make sure my trusty MS Force Feedback Pro is still supported in this Sim. Any feedback would be appreciated.

DragonDaddy Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 I’m still using my MSFF2 joystick without problems. It does not appear to have been affected by any updates.

jokash Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 thank you...will definatelly watch...is there some training scenarios for practicing take offs, instrument flying, landing and engine managment?
cardboard_killer Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 Nothing structured. You can fly a quick mission without the enemy, start from parked and practice, practice, practice. 1
kraut1 Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Hi, sorry, a small question: How do I activate the range information to the HUD's plane icons? (Normally I fly with realistic settings but for training, for tests I would like see the ranges)
FlyinCoffin Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 (edited) cant see the ball(artificial horizon) in the F2 and F4 BF109 is there something to get it more visible? I have no cooler control in the E7 although I used those buttons and have no double binds. Water and oil radiator isnt operating Edited December 22, 2024 by FlyinCoffin

I have no cooler control in the E7 although I used those buttons and have no double binds. Water and oil radiator isnt operating As far as know the F2 / F4 did not have a real artificial horizon. They had only the "Wendezeiger" As far as I know artificial horizons were installed in LW single seat fighters later, ca.42/43, maybe in single seat night fighter versions earlier. -For the E7 and many other water cooled engines with manual control (e.g.IL-2, Lagg3,...) I use this axis: (and the same axis for some fighters with radial engines and outlet cowl shutters (FW190-A5 and later,...) Note: if the axis is used it is not required to switch between manual / automatic control for the E7 For the F2 the keys are working too, but due to my german keyboard settings the keys have another "meaning". For F4 and later BF109... I use the automatic cooler mode (maybe not so effective) The BF110-E has another type of water cooler, works only with keys, I suppose because there are defined steps 1,2,3,... -And a general question: are you using realistic settings? maybe required for manual engine controls. Merry Christmas! Edited December 24, 2024 by kraut1
FlyinCoffin Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 (edited) So can you "illuminate" the so called "Wendeanzeiger"(=turn indicator) for better accessibility. Without using cockpit light? no cooler working in the e7. here my keys. Edited December 24, 2024 by FlyinCoffin

Illumination: sorry I don't know: E7 Coolers: I have tested the Coolers with a joystick axis, 2 joystick buttons and 2 keys, it worked always. But please check, if you have realistic settings. With "Engine auto control" and "Radiator assist" activated it did not work .
FlyinCoffin Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 its on maximum settings. lol I mean every helper is off. 1
kraut1 Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 My Logitech X52 works. But there are some discussions about button limits: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/80110-input-profiles-and-updating-il-2-to-a-128-button-limit/ I would try only for a small test to map additionally some keys and to try if this works. If the keys are working it would mean that there is a problem with the Joystick / Hotas system.
FlyinCoffin Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 (edited) in the F the radiator key does work. So I can switch to open and close water radiator. But in the E no radiator key works. Edited December 26, 2024 by FlyinCoffin

BF109-F2: -default automatic mode, nothing to be done. special mode when cooler is damaged activated with: when activated cooler only full open! but there seem to be no manual mode for the F2 3.) FlyinCoffin Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 (edited) no radiators working in the e7. Iam using that: Edited December 27, 2024 by FlyinCoffin
1CGS LukeFF Posted December 27, 2024 1CGS Posted December 27, 2024 Encoders aren't the best thing to use for radiators. Better to use a switch or an analog input.
FlyinCoffin Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 (edited) but they go infinite to the left and to the right.? Edited December 27, 2024 by FlyinCoffin
kraut1 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 small question: with which settings the ranges / distances to the planes are displayed? (I have to practise to estimate ranges)
FlyinCoffin Posted June 20 Posted June 20 What does "supercharger Gear Shift altitude:fluid coupling" mean? ITS written in specifications of bf109 f2.
easterling77 Posted June 21 Posted June 21 It means, there is no specifig altitude, where you have to switch the gear - the engine (this coupling) wil do it automaticly. You get full pressure to the point of critical altitude. Best greetings DP
