I'm really confused by the hit sounds volume fix. How exactly does reducing the game volume outside of the game increase the volume of the hits.

Great news all round, especially re steam. An expanding community is a good, especially for a positive future in WW2 flight sims ;)

Posted

No doubt we will read about the folks favouring the free to fly lolly pops on steam, thats okay, we like flying classics here!

In theory, the ingame volume control might lower some sound effects more than others, making them disappear in the mix.

Hey it looks like the AA issue against clouds is fixed can anyone else confirm this?

Yes. Noticed it last night.

Vastly improved and close to perfect now.

Posted

Raise the volume ingame to 100%, then lower the volume of the game via Windows sound panel (you can adjust volume separatly for programs ) and it will work :)

Can you still listen to/hear folks on Teamspeak?

Posted

What helps me hear more sounds is by going max on interface sounds, then adjusting my Sound Blaster equalizer, increase what you think the bullet hits frequency is and see if that helps out. Also a good pair of surround head phones helps too.

Alternatively the devs can make them work the same as in other games, no need for fiddling around with extraneous stuff.

Maybe a kind of volume sliders for individual sounds would help...

The update can throw in the trash!

Posted

Thanks devs!

I like the FM improvements . . . keep improving the game :D this is going to be more fun or funner  or funnier

The steam forums have some funnies but its a different forum for sure, lots of them don't have the same passion for flight sims . . . hopefully a few will be turned.

I like the sound and triple monitor but the devs should focus on more pressing matters like FM, ground action / aircrew, DM, carriers, weather, clickable (crick-rubble) pits, prop wash, korea, . Besides triple monitor can be had (need a beast system) and earnings close to Tony Stark, but the sound thing I've edited it with the soundcard software (if you have a good one) or 3rd party sound  mixers . . .

The update can throw in the trash!

:D First off, its: THIS UPDATE YOU CAN THROW IN THE TRASH *  !!!!, if you're going to slam them, do it right and proper grammar separates you from every other 4chaner or /b/ dudes n dudettes.

*use an expletive, you'll get banned faster, moar speed add YOU in front of explicit lyrics

Second, the devs kind of shot themselves in the foot with the matrix build up of last week's miss, but remember it takes a better man (woman) to help or walk away than to kick someone who's down. Besides you don't want the reverse, of the devs taking down players. Just ask anyone that's played war thunder during 1.37 patch

Third: opinions are yours alone but some have validation as each person is valid to some extent, but adding some fact, reasoning, or explanation helps it get close to truth or even something people can believe, rather than people writing it off as useless trolling dribble.

What about roll rates? are they fixed now? opinions?

Lol, wut?

My in-game sound setting is at 100% How and why would reducing my sound elsewhere improve the situation? Sounds a bit like being told to press the accelerator and brake at the same time in a car to make it go faster.

Is the old O.Maddox "recipe" (for il-2'46):

Maximize game sound = make some secondary sounds, e.g. hits, more audible.

Minimize Windows sound = avoid that you became deaf. :)

Well for me sound of the game is just crazy : 100%is like a hard rock concert. So I have to reduce it. If I lower the volume ingame, I loose the hit sound, If I reduce it via Windows everything is ok.

For those who asked about changing sound level in a specific apllication via Windows : you must run the application.

-Raise sound level to 100% in BOS, then Alt-Tab (do not close the game), and open the sound panel of windows, there you will have a IL2 sound" throttle", change it to the setup you like, and Windows will set this value any time you open IL2.

you cannot do this i the game is not running.

Using it I can recognize what type of cannon / MG is firing at me, I hear flak hiting my wings, and shell exploding behind my sit, and like a lot of you folks, before this I had to check everytime If I did not lost a wing, because I could not hear it ! :)

EDIT : for our Mighty Devs , I just tested the update (back from holydays) and it is really AWESOME ! the FM changes are really great. If a quickfix could made for the compass, everything would be almost perfect ^^

FM fixed? great news, maybe i can give BOS another chance

Wow! The team is making a lot of neat improvements. I will have to try the new FM's out, as soon as I can.

Is there a way how to add my "nonsteam" IL2BOS into Steam? I mean to activate game also for Steam, not just "add nonsteam game".

This has been answered and the answer is no for now.

FM in the 109 F-4 feels good imo, will try the other planes when I can.

Regarding the round hit sounds, I noticed the closer the target is the louder the sound, which makes sense to me.

When I was being peppered, I heard the rounds clearly, (on the left wing in one flight), and this seemed no different in past flights.

Volume in game was set to 50%, and at the highest bit rate setting.

In windows, all desktop sounds where set very low.

The Head phones I use are stereo.

The delay in explosions are very realistic imo also, for E.G:

The closer the explosion, the less delay in time in which the sound is heard, and, a greater time delay in which the sound is heard, when I'm further away.

It doesn't to me, i can hear rounds from my AC hit other planes. The hit sounds on my AC are hit and miss, some times  i hear them other times i don't but i'm sure they'll look into it

when they have time.

Try flying 109 inverted and push stick forward (not much - just like you do with slow roll) - 109 starts spin, i think that reaction is far exaggerated.

Just flew some with this latest update this morning.

I have not launched BOS in about 6 weeks, though I have kept it up to date each week.

I am pleased to see the pitch and yaw sensitivity has apparently been adjusted a little. ( flying the Yak)

Running on the Ultra Preset, performance with my rig was very good - great FPS all the way around.

One thing I noticed in the QMB, setting a dogfight over Stalingrad taking off from the runway, my wingmen do not take off with me, apparently they decide to sit the dogfight out. ( tried it with setting flights of 3, and flights of 4).

All sorts of things happen to me when I do that.

They crash against each other, another one tried to take off waaay too early and crashed and burned hahaha. I was flying alone at that point

Yes, I noticed that last week also, even tried  Alt4.

I thought someone said the wingmen/AI are struggling with the new FM coding and will have to be tweaked to use it properly as well.

Well I have to say I am impressed. It is a rainy crappy day here today, and I got to spend some quality time with BOS, in several weeks.

I am very pleased with the progress made - no longer does the plane seem so overly sensitive to pitch and yaw, just got through flying two waves of 4 against 4 in the QMB, flying the Yak against 109's, and I survived it and had a great time with a few kills. Even managed to find my way back to home base, or at least what I think was home base lol.

No stutters, performance on my rig was stellar at the Ultra preset - talking fps in the 75-100 range for the most part, don't think I ever saw it drop below about 60 fps.

I still very much miss, the nice single player missions we once had - which is one of the reasons I quit playing the sim for the last 6 weeks or so,  and while some fun can be had in the QMB, no way to build those kind of scenarios in it. I hope missions similar to what we once had make it back in for the final release.

Ive noticed a big influx of players in the multiplayer servers since the game was made available on steam. Thats a good thing! Before that the US servers were always empty. More servers to choose from and more targets to shoot now. :)

Have no fear!  There will be those missions available after release.  It will be awesome!  Lets just get this baby born first!!

Well after some testing I like this update a lot. FM has become even better, i think it is awesome now. Game runs smooth and it looks and sounds fantastic.

This game has so much potential, lets hope that sales is good. You really deserve it. Keep up the good work!

What about summer map?

What about summer map?

I suspect, if they make another "map" it will be more than just that, depending on how well received Il2:BOS is once its fully released, but a theatre of operations including a selection of appropriate a/c.

No summer map in this release but there are hints of it's probability, later, if you care to look for them.

anyone experiencing bugs such as long delays in awaiting MP flight results.  Crashing from the  MP servers.  ?  I'm hoping these are just minor bugs.

That has to be the most complicated user name I have ever seen, is there rhyme or reason to it?

Sorry I cant answer your question as I am a SP.

He used to spam the forums with Indian Love Potions, Get Rich Schemes and Dating Links. He must have liked what he saw and bought IL2:BoS. ;)

I crashed out a couple of times on Friday but it has been stable for me yesterday and today. The Euro server is often full. I think when the devs/testers are conducting closed tests they may also close all of the slots but I'm not positive about that.

Thank you for this!  I followed your instructions the other night, but was unable to actually play until last night and I completely forgot I even made the change.  I had my headset on and nearly jumped out of my seat when an La-5 got the drop on me and I heard "plink, bang, bang, boom!".  My BOS sound level was defaulted to 60%, I believe.
