The 1960-70s Clint Eastwood or the 2025 version?

The comparison was made in the late 1970s. Though to be fair, it was at least partly because nobody knew my name. 😀

I think most people would agree that there was some slight resemblance though, at least to the extent that I look (or looked then, it was a long time ago) more like Eastwood than I do say Danny DeVito or Whoopi Goldberg...  😉

This creates a potential risk, as malicious users can more easily access the old forum database than the central, secure player database.

Will the old forum database get deleted, so there is no risk in the future of potential data leaks, or will we have to delete our accounts ourselves?

Curious how the game login will function with Korea, as it stands now using the same name and password as the game forums is a limitation.  Hope they'll be separate and the in game pilot name can be easily changed.

I liked the old hyperlobby days where you weren't able to grow accustomed to the same flyers so easily, learning others tactics these days is way to easy with a known and limited group of nearly always the same pilots, most of us have a limited bag of tactics and skills we favor.  I like my limitations and flaws undiscovered, doubts online can be used tactically, it also makes one more cautious in choosing fights.  Pucker factor goes way up with all unknowns, hence better immersion with anonymity in air dueling.

I hope they bring back the forum points and reputation stats for members. I was doing really well and showed all my friends. Then it just stopped!! Took me a while to get over that and my friends dumped me.

I'm pretty sure we all start off with zero stats again, like a newborn:

I kind of hate to see the old girl go. I think this is the first forum I’ve belonged to from start to finish. With it will go some of our former members who are no longer with us. A lot of us aren’t that far behind them. But, times change and the world continues all the same. I’m looking forward to Korea and however GB is going to be continued.

So long IL2.com.

But will the purchases made and recorded on the old database be transferred to the new one? If I purchase a new plane or battle after next Monday, where will it be recorded? Are my credentials on the old database linked to my purchases, so how can I find them on the new one? And also, if I use the same credentials as the old one to register on the new forum, will all my purchases be found?

The database with purchases and the connection with the game will stay the same. They will just sever the connection with the forum.

I understand the need to move to a new forum. However I feel that this has been announced much too close to this forum's closure date. There are likely very many users who don't log in to the forum within the mere 5 days we're given, and therefore don't have the opportunity to e.g. store all their private messages or anonymise their profile info.

I would like to emphasise that since 1CGS is based in Cyprus, GDPR applies. Under GDPR, all users have the explicit right to remove any personal data connected to them. So even if you haven't have had the time to do any such changes yourself within the short time window we're given, 1CGS has the legal obligation to do this if you request so. The forum being in "read-only" mode does not excuse them from this obligation.

Note that this does not relate to forum posts; only to personal data. Examples of personal data are your username and location, and other info you might've shared on your profile page. This also concerns information you may have shared in your posts and/or private messages. Posts themselves are not considered personal data, so you don't have the right to request the deletion or modification of any forum posts, unless you've shared some personal information in them of course. You do have the right to request they are anonimised.

@LukeFF, could you indicate whom people can contact after next Monday, should they wish to start such a process?

Will we still be able to upload our purchases when the site goes down?

Yes, obviously. Do you really think 1C Studios would use a forum closure as an excuse to defraud its entire customer base?

Yes, your purchases will still be accessible.

The only change is that you won't use the same account to log into the new forums (and the badges under your forum character will not be there). But that is only a change to the forums, not the website accounts.

Access to your software through logging in to the website will continue (probably without any changes).

Just to bump my old question... There's no automatic way to back up your PMs and stuff right?

Also a new question... Where will we be able to find the addresses of the old and new forms after the lock down?

I wish they had provided a link to the new sign up location.

Posted (edited)

where was the new Side?
