BOB with texture mod(s)

I'm very confused with all the mods that are out there for early BOB missions.  They have been made by a few people along with a few who made missions.

If I wanted to fly the BOB early missions on a modded early BOB map, which mods and missions do I d/l ? Could you please put together a link for both.  I don't have the newest 109E7 but I have the rest of the planes needed for BOB missions so I don't want a link for missions that include that plane.  Thank you in advance.

G’Day Deacon,

there’s really only two full mods at the moment.

kraut1 - 1940 Bob early mod.

and

Sandinourcoffee6 -Battle of Britain modpackv2 mod.

the details.

Kraut1 - his main mod alters the Normandy map to reflect 1940 period. The second part of this mod is the missions/campaign files. There is a link in his first post to a set of mission/campaign files. One set has the Bf109-E7 as player flyable and the other set has the Bf109-E4 as player flyable.

then for Kraut1’s Mod, I have created a set of files that introduce BoB period skins for 109E4 and SpitfireVb, it also changes menu screens and a few other things. This is to be installed after Kraut1 main set.

2nd BoB modpackv2 mod by Sandinourcoffe6 - this is a standalone mod that has brought together files from multiple people that includes aircraft skins, vehicle skins and missions etc. (Side note: the additional files I created for Kraut1’s mod will work perfectly with this mod as well).

both of the Mods named above alter or replace some of the same files, so ideally you would install one at a time.

However!!!

If you did want to try and get the best out of both mods I would do the following:

take the files out of Kraut1’s Mod and place them inside the mod created by Sandinourcoffee6 and allow to overwrite where required. Then take the files out of my additions for Kraut1’s Bob mod and also put them into Sandinourcoffee6 mod allowing to overwrite where asked.

make sure my files go in last.

then install with JSGME.

so in short you either install one or the other main mods at a time with or without my additions added. Or you can merge all three together.

hope this helps, regards Rob.

Hi @Off_Winters,

Thanks very much for the clarification!

I think during the last 2 months we all made a good progress in direction of Battle of Britain.

I have just downloaded and reviewed the great modpack by @Sandinourcoffee6 and compared with the other mods:

1.) If you ONLY want to have a 1940 style BoB MAP:

https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/92449-early-normandy-1940-map-mod-v03a/

2.) "1940 Battle of Britain Mod early v02"

https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/92520-1940-battle-of-britain-mod-early-v02/

I have created this comparable small modpack in first line as a functional mod to simulate currently not available BoB content:

included is:

-Map mod "early Normandy-1940-map-mod"

-simulation of the 8x .303 armed Spitfire:

-with the Spitfire skin without visible cannons by @Off_Winters-

-with a weapon mod to simulate the 8x 0.303 armament that reduces the rate of fire of the 2 20mm Hispanos. All weapons will fire ca. 17-18seconds.

-modified Spitfire sound file with only machine gun sound

-general weapon mod with slightly increased dispersion of all weapons.

-AI mod: BF109-E4/E7 (and Spitfire) pilots open fire on ca. 300m-400m instead of 500..600m to avoid waste of ammunition.

-AI mod AAA bots: light / medium / heavy AAA open fire at greater distances without being too deadly

-simulation of a british destroyer: skin by Off_Winters / Weapon Mod created by me.

-Vehicle skins:

-Bedford truck and universal carrier without US white stars

-GMC Fuel Truck in RAF blue by Off_Winters

-Optional BF109-E3 simulation: with optional ammo mod and optional cockpit skin without hint for "automatic propeller control"

-"British" Cruiser tank (Pz38(t) with skin by DetCord12B + british flag added by me

Note: if you want to fly my "Luftwaffe Pilot 40-45" campaign with additional intelligent German radio warning messages please use only this mod.

2a.) "1940 Battle of Britain Mod early - Additional files" by Off_Winters

https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/92803-1940-battle-of-britain-mod-early-additional-files/

-a new mod with some great additional skins with unit markings and british pilots

-I will start to test the compatibility with my "Luftwaffe Pilot 40-45 Campaign" today.

3.) "Battle of britain modpackv2" by Sandinourcoffee6

https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/87487-battle-of-britain-modpackv2/

A great collection of BoB content:

-already included is the content of:

"1940 Battle of Britain Mod early v02" (see 2.)

+additional by Sandinourcoffee + various skin creators:

-a big variety of modified special effects (explosions, smoke...) by Sandinourcoffee

-additional modified textures (sky, craters, gun sights, ...) by Sandinourcoffee

-Audio british / german radio chatter by Sandinourcoffee with the focus on immersion in dramatic combat situations

(note: see information about compatibility below)

-additional 39 skins by various skin creators

My current conclusion / point of view (not checked in detail):

-by installing the 3.) "Battle of britain modpackv2" you will get the most of the content of 1.) and 2.)

-Note: if you are flying the Luftwaffe Pilot 40-45 campaign and you want to hear the additional german warnings in combat please install only 2.).

Or alternativly you could try 3.) without Audio folder.
