Good morning!

I have had crashes of IL-2 BoX since the last up-date, maybe linked to the windows up-date end of September beginning of October.

Crashes occured in Quickstart and Multiplayer, on Combat Box, Wings of Liberty as well as Berloga.

I get different flighttimes, sometimes about an hour, sometimes it crashes right after spawning, or when loading the map of the server. Activities are flying around and dogfighting.

Crashes allways freeze the screen, sound keeps going, then eventually the game crashes to desktop.

GPU temperatures are at around 60 Celsius while running the game (Nvidia App running).

Auto HDR disabled, HDR enabled.

Framerate is at around 220 - 280 FPS (target FPS set to 240 in game)

Monitor (Samsung S90F TV) running at 144 MHz

I got some crash dumps in the last few days, today's crash did not generate a dump. Error Reporting is enabled.

Existing dumps are bigger than 5 MB even with 7zip.

My system:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900KF (3.20 GHz)

32 GB RAM at 6000 MT/s

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090

Motherboard MSI

Windows 11 Pro 25H2 Build 26200.6725

Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.253.0

What I tried so far:

Reinstalling NVidia Game Ready Drivers

Up-dating Windows, 24H2

Up-dating Windows to 25H2

Steam integrity check and repair

New installation via Steam

New installation including deleting all IL-2 files

Edit:

I now tested limiting the FPS to 180 FPS

CPU at 3 -5 % GPU at app. 50 %

Result: about 15 Minutes on Berloga, Dogfighting, then about 5 Minutes on WoL, then Crash (frozen screen, game keeps on running, then crash)

Then i tried FPS limit at 120 FPs with VSync and HDR enabled ingame:

CPU 3 -4 % GPU 30 - 40 %

Seemd fine at first, took a break, then Crash on loading screen of Wings of Liberty

Lastly 120 FPS, no VSync

CPU / GPU same numbers, crash after 10 minutes of flying

Usually I have TrackIR, SRS and Discord running, that was never an issue before, though.

Crashes with IL2 only, or in general?

There's a problem with NVIDIA drivers going on for months now; some like me have several blackscreens for 3 seconds after boot.

Some have total crashes. PS your frame rates seem very high, i set my monitors to 60Hz.

I just sent my NVIDIA RTX 4080s back, and ordered a Radeon 9070 xt, after 3 months of messing with various NVIDIA drivers, cables etc.

Thank you for your help!

Try undervolting GPU , there are issue with some GPU brands and high refresh rate monitors.

Howdy

I had no issues with IL-2 before last week, neither with my GPU, nor CPU. Other games run fine. E.g. DCS runs for hours, Warthunder for minimum 1/2 an hour (couldn't stand to play more ^^). So, it's not the mentioned issues.

Edit: see my edit of first post

Could you please show us a screenshot of your memory usage in Windows task manager when this happens? Thanks.

Did you try vsync + lock at 144 fps?

I always sync monitor refresh rate and fps to the same number. I used to play at 60fps on 60Hz monitor and now I have 180Hz monitor but I switched it to 120Hz because I want to play at 120 fps.

My settings looks like this:

-in game vsync:      off

-in game fps lock:  120

-vsync in driver:     on

-triple buffering in driver: on

-fps lock in driver: 119

Game runs at 119 fps because Nvidia driver lock overwrites in game lock. I am using driver from 30.September 2025 but for different card.

Good evening, thanks for coming back.

I have now set the Screen to 144 Hz. In NVIDIA Control Panel I have limited frames to 120 and enabled VSync, and limited frames in game to 120 as well, VSync there is turned off.

I now had a full 5 hours of flights, no crashes.

If it happens again, I will try to take screen shots, then.

Thanks!

Testing a 9070 XT now with 2 monitors, one 4k acer, and an older Samsung 1920x1080.

If i set the first to its normal 144Hz and the samsung to some max (around 75Hz) i get blackscreens.

When i set both to 60Hz no problems.

PS i never really had these blackscreens with my former NVIDIA RTX 4080s and the same monitors

with these refresh rate settings until some Windows update about 5 months ago.
