DFLion_’The Big Show’_’Ranger over France’

Back again with another ‘Big Show’ mission that was missing from my original series. I will get SARFlytitus to insert it into the ‘Big Show Campaign’ which he has kindly made for me.

Pierre Clostermann is now flying with the RAF with 602 ‘City of Glasgow’ Squadron equipped with Spitfire VD’s, affectionately known as ‘clipped’, ‘cropped’ and ‘clapped’ Spitfires (vividly described on page 61 of his book).

This mission is flown in December 1943, and the winter weather is not very good. I think I have captured the weather at the time which is now one of the great features of the game. As my French flight sim friends have said in the past the ‘Big Show’ was more of a novel with some of Pierre’s reports not very accurate. In this mission there are certainly a few anomalies, yet what I like about Clostermann’s vivid minute by minute descriptions, they seem to be very accurate, probably taken from his scribbled down notes done at the time.
