J2_Von-Graff Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Hi all, Well, was wondering if anything has been done regarding this issue. I have submitted the issue to the Devs some time ago, but its still a regular occurrence. I have read that some of the WWII pilots have some complaints but they are minor compared to what I've witnessed in Flying Circus. My hunch is its due to the gunnery alogrythm needing tweaking to adjust better for the WWI planes as opposed to the WWII. Where its a small item in the faster tougher WWII machines, it appears much more robustly in the slower softer targets of the WWI types, but that's just my guess. The results however is a instant kill or death about every other flight, and in a flakey fashion where there is little or no damage to anything else on the aircraft, just a very quick instant headshot kill. You know, its the type that killed Richtoffen from the ground but took 80 odd kills and multiple missions before it did!!! Lol. Yet currently in Flying Circus it just takes 2 or 3 missions before the magical unicorn shot arrives. The Golden BB shouldn't be that frequent. It happens in all ranges as well but is most obvious from longer distance spray and pray shots where it really stands out. One way or the other some adjustment needs to be made as this is a real game killer for those seeking realism. Just saying. Anyway here's hoping some adjustments can be made. I will say however in Flying Circus, other than this one glitch/exception, the gunnery representation is quite good. Just need to nerf the magical unicorn kills so they are fewer and further between. Cheers all! S>
Zooropa_Fly Posted August 6 Posted August 6 RoF dispersion anyone ? Spoiler Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo..
J2_Von-Graff Posted August 6 Author Posted August 6 Those were provided ages ago. Respectfully not doing it again. There are old threads regarding this with much discussion and data included. Was just wondering if things had changed. Apparently not, but It would be a great tweak to correct since many players who like realistic career play would not have their multiplayer progress botched by a messed up persistent fluke in the gunnery. : ) S>
1CGS LukeFF Posted August 6 1CGS Posted August 6 I just looked through your post history, and I don't see anything there. So, to reiterate, we'll need something to review if you and others would like this to be examined. I'm not trying to be difficult; this is just the way quality review/improvement is done by the team.
J2_Von-Graff Posted August 7 Author Posted August 7 Look for the topic in general as it would not be in my own post history as I did not post it. Im pretty sure some of my squad also forwarded some detail to the devs as well. Or you could just mention the issue to the devs as they will surely have all the detail that was provided them related to the topic. It was indeed some time ago. G>
JGr2/J5_Baeumer Posted August 8 Posted August 8 @J2_Von-Graff the least someonde should do is give @LukeFF links to your prior posts. Its a reasonable request, one that make all the time ...the same basic consideration from players on our server ... if they want my time evaluating their claims /complaints...the leadt they can do is provide their evidence.... they can take a few minutes tracking down and providing it. You should too. 1
J2_Von-Graff Posted August 8 Author Posted August 8 Amusingly enough I don't disagree with you. Its just been so long ago and I have so little time to devote to this that I wouldn't know where to start looking. As mentioned it was a topic I merely chimed in on and did not start. Also a couple of my squad mates personally submitted some data to the devs on the issue. Again I am not sure how. So yeah there it is. Frankly I've stopped spending much time in Flying Circus Multplayer anymore anyway due to this very issue. No kill streak no matter how carefully managed can escape this magical 100% kill from ruining it sooner or later...usually sooner...much sooner than it should. So for sequential realism players like myself there's really no point wasting that time there Or I can fly more n the WWII arena where it almost never happens. Pity really as I remember Flying Circus prior to the current gunnery issue and there were never any of these "what the hell just happened" moments. I will see what I can find in the chat records when I have some time, but in the meantime my hope is you will not just downfield block this, and just let the devs know (which we did in the past) that a tweak to this would be much appreciated. Thanks, G> 2
JGr2/J5_Baeumer Posted August 10 Posted August 10 Not disregarding or disrespect intended. We all know the famous quote by now from Combat Pilot that says "The one you dont see is the one that kills you". Players also know that there are AI that seem to lazer kill from time to time (the claim this phenomena occurs every 2 or 3 missions could be debatable and experienced players tend to avoid taking AI planes for granted, staying away from known AI spawn points so they have a chance to see AI enter the area in time to assess the threat). However, the server operators of the communities largest used server (Flugpark) have noticed such reports increased without any change in missions following a patch in the past year or so. It is known that changes made to enhance WW2 BoS etc can wreak havoc to Flying Circus ( wingspar damage and control cables anyone?). 1C has fixed things before (eventually...."...when time and resources permit." Despite this there are virtual life streaks that have extended well beyond historical records previously and a handful of players that approach them consistently. We all expect to lose in this game at some point. Your pount is well taken however, its best when it isnt some AI freak shot ( or some random guy who takes a pot shot at you from a trench we flew too close to...)!
J2_Von-Graff Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 (edited) Baeumer, Good to know the following is a known (commonly experienced) thing and thanks for sharing this: "However, the server operators of the communities largest used server (Flugpark) have noticed such reports increased without any change in missions following a patch in the past year or so. It is known that changes made to enhance WW2 BoS etc can wreak havoc to Flying Circus ( wingspar damage and control cables anyone?). " My only goal is to add to these reports my own experience as a veteran IL2 player (have played since its inception in the dark ages and seen and experienced many alogrythm changes and thier results....lol), as well as being experienced enough to know good fights from bad as well as how to maintain a lengthy kill streak with a Dead is Dead mentality as the goal. Not puffing here just stating history. And I'm simply doing this (adding my experience) in the hope that when the Devs do decide to mess with the gunnery alogrythm structure or tweak it that this detail will also be included in thier understanding of the issue. So my contributed nugget is that its not just AI gunnery, its all aerial gunnery that is causing this too frequent 100% insta kill oddity. And I guess maybe Im one of the few who sees it because I usually fly in this way, with extreme caution and not getting into stupid fights, and pushing the envelope of realism. Unfortunatley thats where you will see it happen the most, because quite frankly you aren't getting into stupid fights and allowing yourself under the enemies' guns in a way a different player does who just wades in and knife fights no matter the odds. Again, to clarify further, I'm not saying this should NEVER happen, as it is in the realistic odds whenever you are shot at, its just overrepresented and far too frequent. As menetioned before, it only got Richtoffen after 80 odd kills, scores of missions, and flying low, slow and stupid. : ) So anyway, I submit this to them for what its worth. Probably nothing. But my hope is that when they investigate with real interest in improvement and actual tweaks that it will be of assistance. In the meantime I have a busy schedule and a realworld career to pursue, so this is about all the time I have to devote to this....lol. I know you understand and thanks to you and LukeFF for your kind responses. : ) Best regards, S> Edited August 11 by J2_Von-Graff 1
