Sandman3838 Posted April 6 Posted April 6 So many flavors to choose from. I think Baskin Robins 31 Flavors has fewer flavors to choose from. Setting up VR for IL2 sure is getting interesting. LOL We have for users to choose from - ==== Ways to Play - Virtual Desktop+SteamVR Link+SteamVR Steam Link Opencomposite ==== At the moment The Desktops (I hope there aren't any more) Meta - Virtual Desktop $20 Steam - Steam Link free ==== Now for Passthrough we have - Chroma Track Overlay EasyFree Mixed Reality Open KneeBoard Steam ===== My Setup Windows 11 CPU AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-Core GPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12gb MEM 32gb VR Oculus 3 512 Unless someone out there has a better idea I was thinking on going Steam VR. I need the Passthrough. Has anyone else out there been in the situation I'm in and have something close to my setup. At the moment its like I'm playing handball and bouncing around everywhere. LOL Just a quick note on the SW your using, and a mention the primary settings, the ones that really matter, for the software and IL2 settings that I need to adjust. Thanks everyone have a great night.
chiliwili69 Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Yes, there are multiple ways to use the Quest3. I was tying to understand all of them and evaluate the best or more practical option: There is a post about this, and in general for all Vr devices and IL-2: In the drawings that @firdimigdi shared, I still don´t understand the options of either setting SteamVR as the OpenXR Runtime or setting Meta as the OpenXR Runtime. I use SteamVR but I set Oculus as the OpenXR Runtime and wifi with Airlink, so it means that SteamVR is just acting as a translator of OpenVR to OpenXR. Same role than OpenComposite. The performance with 150%SS is good and image quality as well. I tested the other routes but I didn´t see any other major advantages.
Sandman3838 Posted April 6 Author Posted April 6 Excellent thank you..... So helpful. WOW that is one hell of a Flow Chart lol

What you have setup means that OpenXR titles will use Meta/Oculus' OpenXR and all SteamVR/OpenVR titles will work as normal though SteamVR. Only if you use OpenComposite will any SteamVR/OpenVR title be translated to OpenXR (so directly to the Meta/Oculus OpenXR runtime) by-passing SteamVR. 1 1
dryheat94 Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Another pass-through app for your list. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1844610/Reality_Mixer__Mixed_Reality_for_VR_headsets/
bioloco82 Posted April 10 Posted April 10 In relation to the flavors: We have different tools to increase performance: OpenXR toolkit VRPerfKit_RSF Did someone compare all this to know which option delivers the best performance?

Openxr toolkit with CAS sharpening works fine for me, first using HP reverb G2 and now with Quest 3...
