Hello,

Is there an Pacific Theater option?

Where else could I down load planes that are not mods?

Thank you

No. There will be in a year or two or three though, if you can wait that long.

You can't. There are no modded planes either.

EDIT: I presumed that by "downloading planes" you meant free planes, but of course that doesn't need to be the case. You can buy new planes at https://il2sturmovik.com/store/collector-planes/

Every module comes with a set of planes. The premium version have two extra planes. You can also buy planes from the store, as @AEthelraedUnraed said.

Do keep in mind that there is some overlap between the planes you can buy separately and those that you can get in a premium module.

Also remember there are NO Japanese Navy or Army aircraft available, and no US Navy aircraft.

Those are years away when the new game engine leaves Korea and goes to the Pacific.

I am looking forwards to the Pacific though, even though I don't expect the first Pacific module to be released until late 2027 - early 2028.

I hope you're right. Where in the Pacific would you like 1CGS to do?

*PS sorry if I have asked you this question before.

I guess we will have to be very patient.

Do you think we will every see Midway done? I know that it was only a four day battle and there would be hardly any land other than Midway Atoll itself but do you think it would be popular?

To be brutally honest, Midway has almost as little replay ability as the Pearl Harbor scenario would. IMHO.  This is my one qualm with the other sim currently in development.

It would make a good tech demonstrator, or intro to a series, but it will have to be quickly followed by a more fleshed out land campaign that would make for longer career play and include ground based and naval based aviation.  Hence my preference for The Solomons and New Guinea.  Now as a mission in a rotation in a multi player server, Pearl Harbor and Midway would work just fine, but as a stand alone release, for those that prefer offline/career based play it will grow old very quickly.

Again, in my not so humble opinion.

I do want to fly carrier missions with US/GB and IJN aircraft, but without a long ground campaign for both sides to support it will get boring fast.

Not for me! But I agree, development into the Solomons and New Guinea will be awesome.

I hope they can do The Solomons one day too along with New Guinea and Okinawa. But Luke told me that they already have years of content planned. So we’ll have to wait and see what they present to us.

I’d still want to see them do it. But you’re right, its single player mode would likely lose its appeal really fast. But I’d like to play multiplayer on a Midway map. I can imagine it would be really fun.

It was in the old IL2, and I had one of my best multiplayer dogfights on a Pearl Harbor map.  I was in a Val and had just dropped bombs on Pearl, was flying back to the "base" and was trying to hide behind a ridge line on the west side of the island.  A P40 jumped me, and we fought to a draw with both of us out of ammo.  It was a long fight, but was very satisfying.

Hi! No official Pacific Theater yet, but it's a popular request. For non-mod planes, check the in-game store or official partner sites for add-ons.

Have they already made up their mind on what they are going to do after the Pacific is done?

There are only three answers you stand the slightest chance of getting to that question:

(1) Yes, they've made up their minds, but they aren't going to say.

(2) No, they haven't made up their minds.

(3) They aren't going to say whether they've made their minds up or not.

There would be no benefit to the developers to publicly discussing their plans that far ahead. It can only draw attention away from more immediate projects: the ones they need to sell in order to fund the later stuff.

Good point.

Honestly, "Pacific" is such a broad term that it could sustain an entire series, at least as long as Japenese aircraft would keep coming, which is not a given considering documentation problems. There's room for a whole bunch of maps there. I strongly suspect the plan for after Pacific is... more Pacific.

It's either that, or the med. They've got to make use of the carrier tech, after all. :)

I'd like to see a Burmese module before they go to the Med. It has been neglected for so long by combat flight simulation game developers.

Since the topic of Seaplanes was brought up in the Odessa thread it made me wonder if we might eventually get some working in the new game engine.

An earlier version of the engine already had floatplanes in Rise of Flight. There is some speculation that the Catalina might be a possibility. I suspect that researching and modelling the interiors of these large seaplanes may be the biggest challenge to adding them.

They were a pretty important part of the War in the Pacific and really should be included somehow.

I flew the A6M2-N a lot in the old sim, and the later mod addition of the H8K "Emily"

All that weight and drag for non-combat reasons makes me drier than a desert. Ain't no way those cockpits are getting my booty.
