Jaegermeister Posted March 18 Posted March 18 In my directory it's here, yours may be different depending on your install but this is the file you are looking for 1
KodiakJac Posted March 23 Posted March 23 @Jaegermeister And that file, if it grows too big, will freeze IL-2 Great Battles from even loading. I've learned that the hard way. And no one at 1C support knows about the problem. At least for me, when it reaches about 1 MB in size, the game will refuse to load. And it grows and grows with each mission flown in each campaign you have loaded into IL-2. I've had to learn how to remove the portion of that file that pertains to any given campaign after I've finished it. Simply removing a campaign from the Campaigns directory doesn't delete that campaign's data from the file. It's just a giant txt file, but it's very tedious making sure you don't actually delete a delimiter and break its structure. Have you found a better way to manage the campaignsstates.txt file from growing too large? 1C support has no answer other than to re-install IL-2 GB when it freezes from this problem. Thanks! 1

No, I've never had a problem with it. I have a campaignstates.txt file backup from a year ago and the current one is only a year old in my offline folder. They aren't even 200 kb. I frequently delete all of the campaigns, delete the campaignstates.txt, ctreecache.txt and mtreecache.txt files and start over with a clean board. I see no reason to save completed campaigns in the game, I just put them in a backup file. If I need access to a certain campaign mission to test it, I open it in the ME and convert it to a single mission. After I make any changes, I resave it over the old campaign files. 1

This is probably what I should do. I always have a handful of campaigns running at the same time and never have a clean stopping point. Thus my campaignsstate.txt file grows and grows until IL-2 GB won't load unless I prune it.
