1CGS LukeFF Posted January 31 1CGS Posted January 31 Dev Blog #21 for Korea. IL-2 Series is now live: https://il2-korea.com/news/dd_21 8 4
Talisman Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Many thanks for the update. Later we will tell you about other types of objects, so stay tuned for more news! Like rocket launchers perhaps? Happy landings, Talisman
Mtnbiker1998 Posted January 31 Posted January 31 I don't mean to be a hater, but honestly I wonder about the priorities of this new game. We don't get clickable cockpits, we get the same boring career mode with a tacked on logistics minigame that no one asked for, still unsure if we're actually gonna get decent AI that can dogfight, but we get all these minutely detailed ground units that I'm never going to see as more than a few pixels from within my gun or bombsight. It seems that you're copying all the worst aspects of DCS, turning your game into an empty boring sandbox in the name of "ReAliSm," and not even for the aircraft! some of the non-updated ground units in FalconBMS have probably less than 50 polygons, and it still manages to provide the most immersive campaign out of any game on the market. I really want to be excited about next gen IL-2, and flying in Korea, but I have yet to see a devlog that makes me go "Damn, this really is gonna be the next best thing in flight sims!" 1 1 1 2
=MERCS=JenkemJunkie Posted January 31 Posted January 31 I notice the lack of life in the ground units when I'm in the air, and appreciate the life given to them, but yeah other items can leave me thinking "I hope that didn't cost much/ eat too much computer resources".

Well, we haven't shown all the details of the new career mode, so it's kinda early to judge how it's actually going to play out. 🙂 2
Hoss Posted January 31 Posted January 31 I hope that doesn't happen unless you are F2 out skylarking at stuff that has nothing to do with the mission. It would just be a drain on resources for that to be going on all the time. It's nice if you have drivable vehicles, tanks, and half-tracks so we can roll into those areas and watch them run or die...
AEthelraedUnraed Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Looks great! Two questions though: - When you say there's an "ability to disable any member of [a gun's] crew," does that mean that, for instance, if I kill the loader, it'll slow reloading times because someone else has to do his job, but the gun will continue to fire? - I take it that with "Korean army" you mean the North Korean army, but will there also be South Korean soldiers? There were nearly as many of those as Americans so I feel it would be a shame to leave them out. 1
Juri_JS Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Will we be able to supress gun crew? Will they stop firing and take cover when getting strafed? 1
No105_Swoose Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Absolutely amazing! 🤩 I hope there will be a DD describing Chinese/North Korean and American anti-aircraft artillery weapons in IL-2: Korea please and thank you.

This actually happens in Great Battles - anti-aircraft gun crews get suppressed, and after a certain amount of time the survivors return to open fire again. That said, I rather liked ZloyPetruskO's mod for Il-2 1946 where simply flying straight at a gun crew had a chance of suppressing it (i.e. anti-aircraft gunners might dive for cover if they saw they were directly under attack). It added a lot of immersion and made ground attack very slightly more survivable. 2

That would be too much detalization at the moment, only critical are the aimers. But may be we will do that later - not hard to do, to be fair. Our ground units damage system is very modular now and such additions are not hard to do. 3 2
Elem Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I'm really excited by the great work the team are doing! Excellent.
Avimimus Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I wonder if there might be a gap with regard to mortars and mountain guns? Looks like only medium/heavy artillery so far. I'm also keen on @AEthelraedUnraed's question about the South Korean army. 15 minutes ago, Han said: That would be too much detalization at the moment, only critical are the aimers. The fact that updates aren't that hard is good news! One of my regrets with Il-2 Great Battles is that ships don't take extra damage from being penetrated near the water line. As a result, ships are always more easily destroyed by high explosive rounds (rendering the 25lb RP-3 rocket and the 57mm gun on the Mosquito nearly useless). The same goes for the RBS-82 - it is always better to go with an RS-82 for attacking ships.

I hope in the future they will already take cover when there are near misses or an aircraft is flying straight at them. 1
Antiguo Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Being able to fly the bombers, for me it would be more rewarding.
MajorMagee Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I noticed that the grass moved gently in the breeze, but did not react to the blast from the gun. Having all of this surface detail just begs for the ability to have ground operations eventually be part of the sim (Tank Crew 2).
Trooper117 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Tanks? no, please no... this isn't WWII, there wasn't massive tank battles, and there is only limited variants used, especially on the Communist side, just a waste in my opinion.
Avimimus Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Hi all, I've moved the posts about vegetation and land use to this thread (as it is only indirectly related to artillery): Please feel free to keep contributing to it - as the topic is very interesting!
