Been testing this processor on my test bench but have no idea how it performs in IL2 great battles. Anyone using this chip with IL2? Curious as to its performance. Thanks.

I would not know, but i exchanged an i9 12900k with an i9 14900k, and noticed quite a difference with f.i. time scale speed.

Seems better as where 8x now works when before i only could use 4x as max in the same mission.

I’m curious as to how it performs but I am still tinkering with the settings, so I am reluctant to move this chip and motherboard into my main case at this point. It likely does quite well but the reviews have been consistently bad.

S!

285 has not shown to be strong in gaming. Slower than previous Intel generations.

that's why i went for the 14900k, and as i already had DDR5, 1700 socket and a z790 chipset.

here he has the chip but he could not test it with IL-2 using the benchmark. So, no facts yet on IL-2.

Thanks guys. I am more of a hardware enthusiast than gamer but IL2 is by far my favorite. I have a 14900ks working fine in IL2. No rush to change anything especially with the links you guys posted. Much appreciated!!

Hi! and @chiliwili69I do not recommend the Core Ultra. Tested it and it wasn't stable or you would need to fine tuning the memory to fix their latency issues.

Stay with the 14gen or get a 9800 X3D :)

I do agree. I have been tuning the 285k but it’s difficult at best. My 14900ks is much more stable. I like seeing how far I can push the memory but it is a steep learning curve no doubt.

14900KS. i was advised to buy the 14900K, and not the 14900KF.  Wonder what the KS has to offer, as it was quite expensive.

My KS allowed better memory OC. No guarantee that the IMC will be more robust in the KS version, but mine was.

Hey! I think I saw your posts on Overclockers.net? 😄

KS is a better binned K, or it usually was... in the 14th Gen sometimes it's worse than a good binned 14900K.

PS What is binned? Not de-lidded?

Yea. I still don’t have much hope for the 285k in line with the benchmarks already published. I even see where an arrow lake refresh has been cancelled too. Don’t know that for certain of course.

Binning is the process of sorting CPUs based on their performance. Delidding is removing the heatspeader on the CPU to provide better cooling with a direct die block.
