TempestV Posted January 1 Posted January 1 (edited) When I bought FC1 that had scenarios I could open with the editor and play around with. But with FC2 I can't find the Flying Circus Scenario Folder with the missions...even though you can see Flying Circus Scenario with the missions for FCII and play them when you launch the game. But the editor does not show the folder. Edited January 22 by TempestV
Zooropa_Fly Posted January 1 Posted January 1 There's no separate folders for the different modules. I take it you're talking about 'single missions' ?
TempestV Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 (edited) Yes. For FCI one they did have single missions in separate a/c folders I could access. Did the change something for FC II & FC III? Edited January 1 by TempestV
TempestV Posted January 2 Author Posted January 2 (edited) Definitely weird. I installed IL2GB on another computer and I don't have access with editor to even the FC1 Flying Circus Scenarios on that computer. I'll contact the help desk. Attached are 3 FC1 stock missions with Halberstadt CL II. I played around with putting German messages in if you land damage or crash a/c. I always like to examine the triggers used in stock missions. Halberstadt CL.II .zip Edited January 2 by TempestV
Zooropa_Fly Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Actually I'm not sure where these are stored, can't find them myself ! Hope you get an answer. S!
TempestV Posted January 2 Author Posted January 2 (edited) ROFMAO!!!!🤣 Yeah-I cant understand it. Tech Support is baffled to...and I have this on 2 computers now. Same problem no mission YET...you can play the missions! But where is the data that is being read to create the misson? Here are screen captures I sent Tech Support at their request. Oh one other thing I deleted ctreecache.eng, mtreecache.eng, ttreecache.eng and these were recreated by the game at start up. But now I can't see the FC1 scenarios anymore to edit! VANISHED!!!! Yet you can play them.🤪🤪 I put the question in AI Chat about can a computer read a file that is "not there" (Yes it can). There are various answers (rebuild Explorer Icons.....) but this is happening on 2 separate Window 10 computers. FLYING CIRCUS SCENARIOS is not in the MISSIONS folder (screenshot) Edited January 2 by TempestV
TempestV Posted January 21 Author Posted January 21 (edited) Okay tech support got back to me. The Missions I can play but don't see in my MISSION folder or editor are in the Missions.gtp file located in the game data folder. You just need the unGTP utility to extract it. FLYING CIRCUS scenarios are in the fc file. I bought a Spitfire collectors plane during the Christmas sale and damned if my Rhineland Scenarios folder disappeared. But it is also in Missions.gtp obp folder. Something in my IL2 account must have the corrupted the extractor for my account since I installed the game in 2 different drives AND another computer and same problem; missing mission files you can play but can't see or access with game editor. Thank you IL2 GB. tech support 🙂 Attached is the Ungip utility. Saves you the trouble of looking for it. unGTP-IL2.zip Edited January 21 by TempestV 1
TempestV Posted January 22 Author Posted January 22 (edited) UGH. The game editor does not see the scenario files...even though I can now see them in the MISSION Folder!🤪🤪🤪🙄 ______________________ Update. The Missions.gtp lack the Mission file but have all the other elements for the scenario. Scroll below how to create 'mission' file so you can edit scenario. Edited January 22 by TempestV
Flashy Posted January 22 Posted January 22 You have got further than I did @TempestV.. hopefully you can find a way to edit them.. I also wanted to change some things about some of those scenarios, but could also never get the mission editor to actually open them..

Just type the complete filename in the open file dialog box and you'll be able to open it anyhow. 1 2
TempestV Posted January 22 Author Posted January 22 AEthelraedUnraed you are 🌟 It worked!!!! I would have never figured that out. By way of illustration.. take scenario airco_dh4 in attached zip and place in your MISSION FOLDER. Open the file named airco dh4 in editor [you will not see anything]----> copy and paste or type 'airco dh4.msnbin'----->click open The editor creates the Mission file with appropriate name!!!!😁 airco_dh.4.zip 2
No_85_Gramps Posted January 23 Posted January 23 In the editor file name box you can also type *.*, hit enter and you'll get a list of every file in the directory. 2
TempestV Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 No_85_Gramps GREAT! Save me a ton of time copying and pasting!
TempestV Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 I backed up my MISSION files. Last thing I need is to have some MISSION files scrubbed if I make a purchase of a Collectors plane (My Christmas sale Spitfire purchase erased my access to editing Rhineland Scenarios files). Have a few more purchase until my iL2 collection is complete. (One Russian fighter, FC4 & Finland) 1
