Frequent_Flyer Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 I copied 1C Game Studio file from old computer and pasted into Program Fle (X86) in new rig and launched the game from inside the "game " folder and received a " failed to update " message. What am I doing wrong ? Any help would certainly be appreciated. Thank You in advance

Frequent_Flyer Posted November 30, 2024 Author Posted November 30, 2024 I ended up downloading a new version to the new PC and moving my mission and skin folders over to new rig as well. However, now the "game interface" settings don't save. The mini map although saved as " hidden " still appears as " compact ". Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 (edited) I just went through a similar experience. After copying and pasting IL-2 from the old computer to the new in Programs (x86), my old shortcut wouldn't launch the game nor would the exe. I decided to do a new install. After installing, I tried my shortcut and the exe but still no dice however it would launch from the new launcher. After pasting in all my skins, inputs, etc. to what I thought was the new install, no skins, etc. showed when launching with the launcher. After looking around it finally dawned on me that the new install is in c:Programs not c:Programs (x86). After copying skins, input, etc. to the new location all is good. FlyingH Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 @Frequent_Flyer check that your "startup.cfg" is not set to "read only"
Frequent_Flyer Posted December 3, 2024 Author Posted December 3, 2024 Good evening FlyingH, Would you be kind enough to explain the path to find "start.chg" ?

Aapje Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Right-click the file and select properties. Then make sure that the read-only checkbox is not checked:
Frequent_Flyer Posted December 5, 2024 Author Posted December 5, 2024 Thank you again Aapje. Unfortunately, this was not the issue.
FlyingH Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Try to put the game folder anywhere outside of the program files or games folders!
