elephant Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) Foobar is right, actually, for so well designed models makes no sense... Even in the old IL-2 I could never fit the face of Hermann Graf properly in that blocky generic model. Skinning the pilots-crew in RoF was kind of limited. At some point I created a bunch of historically correct (as possible) skins for the given models, but a couple of updates ago they were thrown off. Now a couple of generic textures are distributed to every pilot-crew in RoF... Both ways it is still possible to skin your own pilot in RoF, (as a Mod) as well as your own clones will man every plane of your side's Air Force... Edited August 7, 2013 by elephant
Bearcat Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Skinning the pilot's face without beeing able to alter its shape is rather senseless. Yes and no... I managed to get a pretty decent pilot skin in DCS.. Granted I had to really do some manipulating to get it done.. but I did it and it looked pretty good. About 3 updates ago that was removed... Problematic yes and certainly not a priority by any means .. but it would be a nice feature down the road.. IL2 was the only sim I ever saw that allowed that and it was a great touch.. I take it this is the elephant.. whoose pilot template I still use.. I know it is not a priority at the moment nor shoud it be.. but IMO this is the kind of thing that should be structured so that if a user were to decide that they wanted to undertake a project to make this doable they could.. I know in some sports sims you can build a custom player.. I am talking about something on the order of the wii only more sophisticated where you could use say 6 basic shapes with interchangeable eyes, noses and mouth types.. and then skin that and save it.. I am basically talking just access to the pilot file. Users can work out how they alter it.. It is just a thought and a wish so.. please .. no one jump down my throat.. (not that anyone has... I''m just sayin.... )
=BKHZ=Furbs Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I dont care about changing the face, i just want a handlebar moustache!
skline00 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Ordered the Premium Edition this afternoon. I enjoy ROF but IL-2 Sturmovik was one of my favorite flight sims. When I heard that 777 Studio was involved in the development I was "hooked". Trailer looks great. 1
