Updated Track IR software to latest version 5.5.1.192

Looks like there's a problem with the latest software, Track IR wasn't starting with Great Battles

Checking the Natural Point forum another user reported doing the same and Track IR failed to be recognized by DCS, so looks like it's a Natural Point problem

To roll back if updated the new software has to be deleted prior to rolling back, as it won't update to an older version.

I deleted the new software via Control Panel and reinstalled then installed the previous version without issue and everything now working

If you run a repair installation it will also fix the issue with the current version (I had the same problem too with it not starting).

Hi all. For those that use TiR, there's an update (5.5.1) to solve some games not detecting the new 5.5 version. If you're having problems after installing it (like I had - IL2 wasn't detecting it), try to *repair* the installation (running the setup again after a reboot).

Hello,

This is working :

Install 551, choose remove application (551) trough control panel. In the unisntall pop up window, choose "repair" and everything should work.

It worked for me.

Best regards

Well thats good cos at my age, my neck only goes to 2.

But really, there were some frustrating things with the older software. I just wondered if the new fixes anything before i bother to update. I've looked on the Natural point site but cant see any reference to the version.

I only updated as it was flagged when I opened up TrackIR.

If you start with it minimized and don't open it up you won't see the alert

On the site it's only shown as 5.5.1, so annongly the revision number isn't shown and I didn't see any readme or update notes either

Looks like a few grumbles on the forum about it though

News: Yesterday my TiR 5.5.1 stopped working for good. No matter what I try, it would simply not work inside games (remove/reinstall/repair/etc). Rolled back to 5.5.0.
There's info on NaturalPoint site stating that they are aware of the problem and plan to launch a correction in following weeks. I suspect something to do with the drivers. Anyway, if someone experiences the same, 5.5.0 seems to be stable.
Cheers.

I've an old but perfectly working TIR 4 unit and 5.5.1 completely shut it down so the device was no longer detected. Tried the uninstall/reinstall and repair but no success. After some googling, found a post recommending reverting to an older version. I uninstalled and reinstalled 5.4.2 (my last working version) as admin but it still didn't work. In the end I had to find the device in device manager and manually update the drivers via windows to get it back.

Yes, greatly.

Bit of a cockup what! 551 and the repair thing stuffed it. No cam detection fräulein. So, uninstalled the blighter and reinstalled 542. Now ok and the missus can relax and fix dinner.

Steerin' clear of 55* 'til they sort this out.

LOL - jees it was early when I typed that pile of nonsence but you got muh drift.  🙂

Several years ago on this very forum someone came up with some hacks for TIR and GB which really made a difference to the way it worked. I cant remember exactly what it did (Im thinking something along the lines leaning forward zoom but without the true view issues of revesed rearwards lean - could be something totally different.). Sorry, sound like some old boy in weatherspoons but I've never found the post again.

Anyone?

Was hit with the same problem with the 5.5.1 version.  Everything worked fine in the TrackIR visual grid, but when I launched my first mission in a Sopwith Dolphin, I spawned with my view skewed about 20 degrees to the right, and F12 Center could not fix it.  Also, I could not look to the left at all, nor zoom or un-zoom as I leaned in or leaned back.

So, I uninstalled 5.5.1 and reinstalled the 5.4.2 version I was running prior to the update.  Now, everything is almost working correctly in other aircraft I tested (Hanriot and S.E.5a), but when I spawn in the Dolphin, my view is still screwed up as described above.  Is it possible for a single aircraft to be messed up, but other aircraft are fine?  How do I fix that?

Also, I said the Hanriot and S.E.5a were "almost" working, as everything is working except the "Z" axis zoom when leaning in and leaning back.  It barely moves, when before the 5.5.1 update, my "Z" axis leaning in and leaning back worked great and was quite pronounced.  I could lean into an instrument panel and zoom right into a single instrument if necessary.  Now I can't.

What to do next?

Thanks!

Tried 5.5.2 today. After removing all traces with help of Revo Uninstaller and installing 5.5.2, at first some games (IL2 GB and Blitz and some racing games worked, but Arma series didn't - Battleye incompatibility).
Then, after third reboot, not a single game works anymore.

Reverting back to 5.4.2

Hi guys!

Could someone with TrackIR please hop into a Sopwith Dolphin to see if they have a straight on view in the F1 cockpit view with TrackIR?  My F1 view is skewed about 30 degrees off to the right, and up about 10 degrees.  And it won't recenter to normal.  It makes the Dolphin unflyable for me.

After getting hit with the 5.5.1 problem as many of us did, I reverted back to 5.4.2 and everything has been working fine except with the Sopwith Dolphin.  And I'm wondering if this is somehow a remnant problem from 5.5.1 with my TrackIR installation, or a problem with the IL-2 Great Battles Sopwith Dolphin that hasn't been reported.

I can't imagine TrackIR 5.5.1 changing the Sopwith Dolphin code in IL-2 Great Battles, but I've uninstalled TrackIR completely, and then reinstalled 5.4.2, and the only problem I'm having is with the Dolphin.

Thanks! :salute:

Hi KodiakJac,

The problem isn't your TrackIR. This is how to fix it.

1. Start a mission in the Dolphin.

2. Centre your TrackIR view. (Your view will be off to the right and up).

3. While maintaining this exact offset view pause TrackIR

4. Now using the mouse align your view to where it should be.

5. Save the new camera view with the ingame keybind. (LShift+F10 is the default)

6. Unpause TrackIR and all will be well

TrackIR will now centre to the new forward view.

@HotPursuit

Brilliant!  Your instructions worked, and I was able to fix my F1 view in the Dolphin.  You are a Gentleman and a Scholar!

Thank you! :salute:
