Skin request from DFLion_Fw190-A6 (1943) for 'E69_julian51'

Hi Julian,

I have been out of the scene for a while due to health reasons - now back again and every thing is all good.

Could you kindly make for me 2 X Focke Wulf  A6 skins (as shown in my pic). One is a skin showing JG26 FW with yellow cowls and yellow rudders with all standard markings including the Hark..cross on the tail - no Staffel numbering. The other skin is for JG2 FW showing a red cowl and red rudder as described above.

I will use these skins for a mission I am currently doing, and will add their Staffel numbers via the game mission builder. The other request is to provide any skins you have already made showing the 'Aces' aircraft of JG26 and JG2 in August 1943 -FW190-A6. I will put these Aces leading each Schwarm.

Many thanks,

DFLion

PS These skins are for my new mission - DFLion_The Big Show_'Commandant Mouchotte fails to Return' to be released shortly.JG26_JG2_FW190-A6_skin_request_final.thumb.jpg.a4f49bca28d6057eed5d69fa434d6287.jpg

hello @DFLion

I don't have aces masks for jg2 and jg26, give me some profile or picture and I will make them.

I made the Priller.

Thanks E69_julian57 for your quick response to my skin request. I am very keen to get the German markings fairly correct because I will make a reciprocal mission of this mission to fly the Focke-Wulf's against the Spitfires and P47's. I've found a few pics of the JG2 and JG26 German experten aircraft which I will put together and post to you.

Mainly, I have a few German experten names only (profile), with no aircraft pics. These names may lead you to aircraft pics from your own resources. I have your Priller (JG26) skin which is great.

Many thanks again for your help.

Hello @DFLion
Tell me the names of JG2 aces and I will see what I can do.
I understand that the skins I made are good for you, only the JG2 ace is missing.

I send you the skins by private

The other skin is for JG2 FW showing a red cowl and red rudder as described above.

Appreciate your plan to get Clostermans Big Show "adventures" into scenarios. Just want to make sure you are aware that JG2 Fw-190s never had any red colour on their planes. However if you want to chose red cowls and rudder as a form of "artistic licence" I would be the last to interfere with your creative intents. Lookin forward to your scens.

E69_julian57 - a great collection of skins (see pic below). Thank you very much again for helping me so quickly with these skins, they will add so much more realism to the mission. I am working on a list of JG2 Aces, at the time, and will post shortly to you.

How are you 'sevenless'. I do thoroughly respect your historical knowledge, which is amazing. I have two old publications by Geoffrey Pentland and Anthony Shennan which describes the Fw190 in great technical detail. In part 2 of these publications I have at least 3 color plates showing red cowls, including the pic above.

In regard to Clostermann's dogfight description in 'The Big Show' he graphically describes two Focke-Wulf's with red cowls on pp48. "A tight turn, to break away to the left, and I found myself parallel with two other Huns - two magnificent, brand-new '190's', their cowlings painted red and their big fascinating black crosses standing out on the ochre and olive-green of the fuselage."

I know Clostermann was prone to exaggerate, though I feel in these early chapters of his book he was graphically describing what he saw - I'll stick with this for the mission.

Yep I know, that is most likely the "problem", the Pentland piece is from 1968. Back then in the 70s/80s there were many photo misinterpretations of gray scales on german planes made. One of the most "prominent" ones might be the 109 F2 of Hans "Assi" Hahn by some toy companies and model makers.

Just want to make sure you are aware of that. As I said, if its a deliberate design decision by you I can live with that.

Anyways, if you google for Siegfried Schnell, Josef Wurmheller, Egon Mayer, Kurt Buehlingen, Erich Ruhdorffer you can find plenty of depictions of their planes. All with yellow cowling and yellow rudder. Try to go for profiles by Claes Sundin. The most reliable you can get.

I dont want to comment on Clostermans colourful description of events. Others have done that already. I put it under "authors license". Anyways his book is a pleasure to read with a grain of salt. I would say its a docu-novel. Very entertaining.

'sevenless', thanks for your very detailed reply, especially giving us a list of JG2 'expertens' at the time who were - Siegfried Schnell, Josef Wurmheller, Egon Mayer, Kurt Buehlingen and Eric Ruhdorffer. If you make up these skins (even with yellow cowlings and yellow rudders) E69_julian57 I would be very grateful.

I'm just in the process of adding some more 'ground details' to my mission, which is working very well.
