The jet protection missions sound awesome! I‘m very much looking forward to this. Will start a new III./54 career for it! And looking very much forward to the Ta 152!

128 inputs per controller is great, and so is that new mission type. Glad to see things like this added to address long-standing issues and flesh-out the game.

Can't wait to go anti-rat catching with the 152! :) Great work guys :)

So, will there be rat catching missions on the allied side then in the future?

as well as a number of important improvements and changes.

Here are some things I’m hoping for:

1. End of enemy planes having precise, real-time tracking of your aircraft and send every available aircraft after you as if nothing else mattered: if your flight attacked an airfield and you flew back to base at a low level, when you are like 10 miles away and all of your flight has been shot down, every single remaining enemy plane goes after you like Ike, Patten, Monty, Churchill or top ace was onboard. Even a few hundred feet above the English Channel, enemy planes flying at 9,000 feet directly above you will abandon their mission and attack you.

2. Whatever the parameters were for the pilot survivability during a forced landing or wingtip colliding with a tree or building before Update 4.605 is restored minus the health cheat that was removed in Update 5.001. Bold part says all, even after Update 5.001 if at ~80 km/h the wingtip hits a tree or building the plane is practically intact with mostly a bent wing but everybody is killed. Even the wing striking a revetment at 30km/h with the plane practically intact after is instantly fatal.

3. End of the magic bullets

P.S. I’ve posted or sent my track files pertaining to the above.

That’s all I have. The others will likely be added or fixed in the new project.

Cheers.

What is the status of the He 111 and Pe-2 with new crew models?

I hope that the increase of usable buttons, comes along with the increase of usable joysticks.

I have been complaining about this for years, but eventually I gave up.

It is possible to map 15 or 16 or I do not know hoe many in the key settings, and all get detected and numbered, but later on, in game, only up to 8 controllers work.

I have learned the hard way, because in my set-up I use 9 controllers (for Il2)adding up Joysticks, consoles, rudder, etc

In DCS I use 11 controllers without any problem

if that is solved, I would be very, very happy....

It's in the plans but no schedule right now for when it'll make it in.

Still in the list - animations for what's coming next have the priority right now.

Yep. The Hurricane is one of the finest collector planes ever created for this sim. Love flying it and love all the different adaptation options which come with it. 👍 Can´t wait to fly it over Karelia in the future.

Fantastic news and a welcome surprise.I have been loving my VKB STECS lately, and its ability to bind anything has taken me past the 64 limit. I tried hard to use virtual controllers to get more use out of the controllers buttons, but what a headache that was. This is great- especially for VR. 😎

Yes, please!

One question about the increase to 128 buttons... Hopefully it won't require any re-mapping of what one already has mapped.

Glad you guys are liking the news about 128-button support. 🙂 That's what I was referring to last week when I said something really nice was in development.

It shouldn't be an issue.

I'm glad the 128 button is coming but to be honest after all these years of the feature missing, I had to create custom button layouts that worked for the prior limits and I'm not going to re-map and re-learn the controls again. A bit too little too late for me.

The Hurricane looks great in that light, I hope that's a teaser for the future pbr (otherwise what's the point?)

I am happy to hear the next update is in the pipeline and the Ta 152 is a very big thing. The development of this war bird was a positive surprise and now can’t wait to sit inside the cockpit 🤗

Increase the buttons is also very welcome, nice improvement. How about to increase the number of joysticks at all?

The developers show us often enough are working always on little or big improvements like the separate prop feathering we already got  😊

My personal wish list for future updates:

-separate control for step-controlled coolers

-operational bomb safety switch in German planes ( I know it’s not forgotten 😉 )

- Kurssteuerung ( one axis autopilot ) operational for Ju88‘s, Bf110‘s, He111‘s similar like it works in the Me410 🙂

Also true; not going to change the layout itself, but now I'm able to use those recently introduced (5.202 I think) "set state" commands instead of "toggle" commands in many places.

Do I see a pattern? Back to Wednesday development updates!? That takes me back - the nostalgia (at one point, years back, Dev updates happened on Wednesdays, and I think the original Il-2 tended to have them on Wednesdays as well)

Finally. It was worth to wait!

@LukeFF I get that the Ta-152 needs to have a career for those who buy it, similar to the FW-190A-3 in BoS. However it didn't fly anywhere near the Rheinland map so we shouldn't see it as AI. Can you confirm this is the case?

Posted (edited)

So every update I look for some level of improved performance for vr to eliminate or at least minimize slide show slow downs when more than a few planes particularly multi engine planes are around. It has yet to happen. Am I just wishful thinking about what should be expected? Not trying

to be critical just trying to understand if it’s even under consideration.

After the next DLC/New Sim announcement, are scheduled new collectors planes in the next future for IL2 GB( if I rember well only TA 152 is on the road map) ?

Posted (edited)

I have to say compared to other aircraft rumored to be in the pipeline, I am not all that excited by the Ta-152….perhaps when it is offered on a “special” I might buy it , but I would think it’s usage would /will be very limited. This is one of the proposed aircraft  I Am looking forward to taking a flip in, even though it’s usage would be limited as well….

I don't like the trend towards high flying late war aircraft.  The Ta-152 must have been someone's personal dream plane.

This started as an air-to-ground sim and not a strategic air war sim.  I alwas harp for the Hs-123 which was retired in 1940 but contined on until 1944.  Russian early war bi-planes would be good too.

I do like the increase to 128 buttons.  I'll be able to use those new on/off buttons, I hope.

I'm not sure about that, but it's always an option. It's not yet entered testing yet for career mode.

The Ta 152 has been in the plans for a long time but only now was there time to model it (it was originally proposed to be a part of the Rhineland plane set). Besides that, ultimately the team is going to build planes which it feels have a good chance of selling well.

Planes like this one and others recently have also served as training projects for modelers new to the team. So there's multiple reasons why planes like this have been chosen.

That's to say nothing of the fact that there have been quite a few early-mid-war planes modeled and released recently. Not everything is going to appeal to everyone. 🙂

That one and the Hs-123 would make a perfect Bi-Plane set.

IIRC, besides the I-153 there's also a Ju-87D-5 and La-7 "semi-confirmed".

Besides that, the Devs said that they're looking at options for additional aircraft to go with the Karelia and Odessa maps.

Please don't let there be any AI Ta-152 😬 Those who like their Wunderwaffe fantasies can always fly (A)QMB or scripted missions, but IMO the Career should remain historical.

YES!
That one time your semi-personal and arguably minor QOL issue is fixed, what a great piece of news.
I Thank the team from the bottom of my heart for upping the number of accepted inputs, now finally I can fly without strange, dissatisfactory results from my new controllers.
