career mode - Crimea

Hi All,

 

I was enjoying my career in my Bf-109 G-4 up until yesterday, I was about 80% through (using medium length)...I got a hard the game lock up when the sim was trying to load a mission...basically IL2 crushed to Win11 desktop. I started Il2 again and tried to resume my career mission, and this time my computer locked up. Had to reboot my computer, I have deleted my career and started a new in Normandy flying Bf-109 G-6AS...

 

Did something like this happened to anyone else...just wondering.

 

My PC specs:

 

Intel i9 7940CPU, 128GB of RAM

nVidia 3080 Ti

Win11 for Workstations

 

TM Warthog HOTAS with throttle and stick + MFG crosswind rudder pedals

Hi Luke, I'm not sure to be honest. I have deleted the career and crated a new in for Normandy and few two missions since then...

Hi BlackJaguar, you discribed the same issue I had with my career:

 

Do you had also showed error code 0xc000012d when the game shutted down?

 

If yes, it could be supposed there are some bug somewhere....

One other thing I noticed flying in the Normandy campaign, I have selected Bf-109 G-6AS and I flew two missions with it. However, on my 3rd mission I got assigned Bf-109 G-6 Late?! Hmmm...what is this about?

That's normal if your unit has more than one aircraft type and you own those planes.

@LukeFF My flights have been crashing for weeks, and I have tried everything to remedy this with no joy.  Where would I find the mission files?  Thank you.

It's the _gen.mission file in /data/missions. This file is overwritten any time a new career or quick mission is generated, so if/when this problem happens again it's important to grab it before it's populated with new mission data.

Thanks LukeFF, I will keep this in mind for the future as the last mission in Crimea career is now gone and overwritten.

Hi LukeFF,

 

I just started a RAF Normandy career as Squadron 222 flying Spitfires. I just did a first mission, found two problems.

 

1) On the runway, the flight leader instead of taking off, just taxied around and joined the flight 8 planes from the back of the runway and then crushed into another plane...in the process both planes were destroyed. Another plane tried to do the same, luckily I was taking off before I saw the second outcome of this instance.

 

2) We were suppose to bomb a target in France but instead of proceeding to the target our squadron just circled around the airfield in the air forever. After circling around few times I got tired and finished the mission. I'm providing the _gen.Mission file file let know if you need anything else please let me know. I won't be flying again until I get a reply form you; to make sure I don't overwrite anything in the data/missions directory. I have to say, the career mode in the flight sim could use some serious look over....from my humble point of view.

Hi,

I have nearly the same problem with my crimea career, my career is close to the end in october 1943 every time I have to fly a "Attackers Escort" mission the game freezes

after I clicked the Start the Mission button.After a while a windows message pop up that says that the programm is not responding and ask to wait or close the programm.

When I take a look at the date and time of the _gen.mission file, it´s the same as bevor I started the career mission.

it happened again and here is the file.

But the file has the same date,size and time it was created as before I tried that mission again (I checked that ).

So it is propably the mission file from my Stalingrad career I flew earlier that day.

I think the game not created a new _gen.mission file until it shutted down.

So, our mission builders looked into this and cannot reproduce the issue. 

 

It is also important to note that career missions with an updated front during mission generation, after pressing the “start” button, freeze the interface until the end of generation, and this time can be measured in tens of seconds.
