JGr2/J34b_Matthias Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 ISSUE: Mission was configured so that both "Germany" and "Germany WW1" NATIONS were part of the "Central Powers" COALITION. See screen snip from mission editor showing the setting. Player flying "Gemany" assigned airfield as part of "Central Powers" Coalition recieved a coalition change penalty for going to backseat gun in a friendly plane - a German plane, spawned from a "Germany" assigned airfield which was also part of the Central Powers Coalition Recreation steps and why this needs to be fixed: - Player went into mission and selected a Central Powers Coalition airfield - Airfield was set to "Germany" nation. - Player died and recieved a death penalty - Player went and selected "Backseat Gunner" on the menu and clicked on "Germany" flag. - Player changed coalitions and recieved a coaltion timeout penalty of 3 hours (we were in a campaign Needless to say that pilot was PISSED. Ands he has every right to be. The coalition assignment setting works for IFF, works for all kinds of other parts of the game but the backseat gunnery part handles it differently and treats a nation's default coalition as the current coalition? Not cool AND it definitely didn't used to be like that!
JGr2/J34b_Matthias Posted April 14, 2024 Author Posted April 14, 2024 (edited) Related note: Some people will read above and say well why even do that and set both Germany and Germany WW1 to the same coalition? That should never happen so this is a non-issue! For those people: The WW1 nations were not always in the game and we have older mission code that still uses the original nation assignment settings. Prevents us having to waste time rewriting those mission plugin groups. We just set those nations to the correct WW1 coalition and it works perfectly. 1C for whatever reason has never given us icon colors for Entente and Central in the mission editor. When mission building, this makes it harder to identify on the fly what's what in terms of vehicle/structure assets which are linked and assigned an IFF. So it's more visually appealing and helpful to code in the editor using the WW2 coalitions so that mappers get red and blue icons as they build... Why this has never been "fixed" I don't know - Flying Circus has been here for how many years now? Edited April 14, 2024 by JGr2/J34b_Matthias
1CGS LukeFF Posted April 15, 2024 1CGS Posted April 15, 2024 The likely issue, per @Regingrave, is the usage of both WWI and WWII countries in the same mission.
