Hook_Echo Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 We need more race courses, so I made one. The course takes you along the Rhine through Koln with some detours through train stations and cathedral spires and a low level jaunt through the countryside. The idea is a time trial, but you can race with your friends if you like. Place the files in IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad>data>Multiplayer>Dogfight and create a dogfight server in the multiplayer menu. It is set up as a dogfight so you can choose any plane you like... mostly. Be careful, some of them are a tight squeeze through the tighter portions of the course. You can fly over some of the bridges if you are a coward. Please speak up if you have issues or request any changes. My best time so far is 4 min 43 sec in a P-51D, so that's the unofficial time to beat... for now. Download the track here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/95kncv92eielh5w/Koln_River_Race.zip/file If your GPU struggles with all the smoke and fire try this one: https://www.mediafire.com/file/w6048zoltpigos7/Koln_River_Race_Clear.zip/file Here is a sample run of the course: And as a special bonus offer I'm throwing in two free racing skins I cooked up. A Spitfire Mk IXe in the Formula One BAR Honda livery: https://www.mediafire.com/file/x4xpq71pbvvn04g/Spitfire_Mk_IXe_BAR.dds/file And an Fw 190 D9 in the classic Porsche 917 Gulf livery: https://www.mediafire.com/file/gmcxf3aw1b16yu3/Fw190D9_Gulf.dds/file 4 3
[CPT]Crunch Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 Don't normally race but that actually looks like fun, will give it a whirl.
Hook_Echo Posted February 26, 2024 Author Posted February 26, 2024 @[CPT]Crunch let me know what you think, especially as someone who doesn't normally race. I have an innate desire to fly low and fast, and I've been doing a portion of the course for a year or more, so I really know it well. I can run at combat power in the Spit with no troubles, but I still crash a lot at full power or in any other plane I don't have muscle memory with. My advice for anyone is fly the plane you fly the most and fly it slow until you know the course. I'm going to start hunting a location for another track, and I'd like to know where this sits on the difficulty scale for people before I start the next one. 1
