Is there a patreon account or something to contribute monthly?

I'm still rather new here and figuring stuff out. I'm interested in contributing a small amount monthly. Is there a way to do that?

Nope.

So far there is no subscription model for this title.

It's a rather contentious issue.

Is it? Can't say I've ever even seen it mentioned. If you really want to contribute, just purchase all the content and collector planes/vehicles. If you already own them all, buy them for a friend.

It's come up a few times over the years with this sim and other sims. It's controversial to be sure. Vehemently opposed by some and more accepted by others. I don't see this series moving in that direction.

IMHO, I'm not a fan of subscription models. When Adobe moved to a subscription service I dropped them in favour of their non subscription competitors.

Whoa! I never said a subscription model. I'm against that too.

I'm saying more of a sponsor, or a "I just won the lottery" model where I can donate the coins I found in my couch. Combatbox, IL2 SRS etc have ways for you to donate money to them IF you want to. I don't see why the main game would not have that option as well.

Buy more ribbons under your avatar, hint, you can't get them off Steam.

I'm not sure

I'm not sure how that is an answer to my question. Maybe it's your attempt at being a jerk?

I have my accounts set to different email addresses and login so that my kids and I can play together.

Community projects like servers and utilities do tend to have services that let you donate money. Commercial products don't typically do that. IL-2 itself is very much a commercial product.

The best way to support the series is to buy they stuff they offer.

This post makes me realize they really should sell shirts, mugs, and other IL-2 branded gear. There's a market for it.

Kinda like the growling sidewinder "I'm a cat person" shirt.

I'd buy something.

I think that's why they sell collector planes. You can fly a different version of a lot of them included with the game. Campaigns are also a good investment in the IL2 brand in my unbiased opinion.

I am not sure they let you do so and use their brand.

We cannot sell missions, skins, objects created, mods etc. I personally think that they should have let have such an applications free market between IL2 players, it would have boosted the game, and finally the market would have regulated itself with the good quality productions come out. They just need to take a small cut on each transaction. It becomes a win (Il2)-win(contributor)-win(end-customer gamer) solution.

You have then the official products etc. and an informal enthusiast market. I see no problem to that.

yes you can buy collector airplane as gift every month or so and keep it... simple

20$ per every 4 months its like 5$ IL-2 GB sub / patreon / onlyfans or what not

no need for them to make some aditional type of thing , if ppl have to mutch money or they need to give more to devs, just buy DLC or collector airplane as gift and keep it , buy everything , and then buy everything again and again and so on...

And better send key gifts to other fellow simers who are not so wealthy, win win situation for all .

Have some fun with it and hold periodic competitions for collector planes, whatever.

Create some forum buzz !

And if you don't have (enough) friends who are into flight sims to buy them stuff as gifts, announce a giveaway here on this forum. As a form of some competition, or just first come first served or whatever floats your boat.

Many veteran members have done so in the past to give something to community while supporting devs as well.

This one @Varibraun put on was great fun! I became very invested in my pilots, and the competition added a new element that I have yet to experience again as I only play single player.

I think this idea is great other then I have no idea how to set all that up. Looks complicated for a new player like me.

I would be willing to pay for a plane or something for somebody who otherwise couldn't afford it.

Thanks for the good ideas!

When you go to purchase an item in the store, you can purchase it as a gift. You just then have to send the code to whoever is the recipient.

Here is an example of how someone in the past did it:

So you can do it like this:

- Buy one or more items as gifts in the store. You should now end up with some keys

- Put up a giveaway thread where you give people a few days or a week to respond with what key or keys they want to enter for

- Collect the names of the people who would like to win the key

- You can make actual pieces of paper with their names on them and draw from the hat, or put the names in the spinny wheel: https://wheelofnames.com/

- Draw all the winners

- DM the keys to the winners

Of course, you can vary on this depending on your personal preferences. Can people apply for more than one key? Do they have to answer a question or do something else to enter? How long will you run it for? Etc.

But it's not all that complicated, unless you make it complicated.
