Rocket tubes........a question

Recommended Posts

Posted

Was flying on Combat Box, and a question came up. If one jettisons their rocket tubes, and they hit the plane attempting to shoot them down, will there be damage to the plane hit by the tubes? We weren't sure if the tubes hit the following plane or not, but it was that close.

In my experience it has, but that's offline for me. I've hit B-26 props with the jettisoned rockets of my ME-109 and taken them out

Well I have had shot off pieces of control surfaces knocking my props out and even damaging my wing.

Even a bailed out pilot can hurt you

I know this doesn't answer your question but just wanted to go off topic a bit and say that i watched a video once where a P51 pilot in WW2 said that he was on a mission and they were carrying externals and this ME262 was coming straight at him and at the last second he pulled up and released his tanks cause he had to as he was entering combat but also he was hoping he would hit him, lol, guy was really cool and funny, the way he told the story just made you laugh, he said "i tried but no, i didn't hit him" ha ha

I've dropped them over Koln before and circled around them as they fell, hit a housing block roof, slid down and fell into the street.  There's definitely an object with physics behind it.

This is exactly the topic I came to the forum to ask about...

How do you jettison your empty rocket tubes (what key combination), and what is it called in the Key Bindings section (I assume in the Weapons Control section)?  Can't find it, and I always have to turn on my autopilot for a few seconds to get rid of them, and it jettisons them immediately.

Thanks!

Ha Dutch pilots did better. In may ‘40 a Fokker D21 pilot got a kill on a 109 because he jettisoned his canopy for a bail out and the canopy flew straight in the prop of the 109 with the expected result.

Now i wonder if we can do that in an IL2 mission .....

I fried a 109 online with the VAP 250 canisters on an IL2 in the original game once.  He was quite surprised. ?

A favorite memory of mine from this sim was from a bomber intercept on Kuban. I made a run on an A-20, and passed under him. As I was, my nose was shoved upwards. I paused in surprise to try and figure out what happened, and saw the bomber had jettisoned his bomb load. One of these had hit the top of my fuselage and must have like rolled down the side of it, missing my tail surfaces, leaving me surprised but unscathed. So you can not only interact with falling objects, but angle and relative velocity matter.

Years ago , in Berloga server , - I saw a parachute was taken by a plane , and the pilot was hanging/ following the plane

What the heck did they put on those tires? Was this a new wunderwaffe? Notice that even the bomber got obliterated by the explosion ?

All bombers get obliterated by something. A shoe thrown at it bump you head in the canopy it will explode.
because fighter pilots will see results
