woodsglen Posted January 30, 2024 Posted January 30, 2024 I just installed ROF on my new windows 11 PC and i get this : Rise of Flight Application failed to start because side-by-side configuration is incorrect I've searched the web and have no clue how to fix this. I'm up in age so my computer skills are... shall we say Very Rusty. Can anyone help?
spmarch Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 Same thing for me (including the age thing). Brand new Lenovo gaming laptop. Must I install some C++ replacement software?
JGr2/J5_Klugermann Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 IIRC correctly you need the 2005 and 2008 C++ redistributable files
spmarch Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 J5_Klugermann, thanks but where do the files go? It says I'm missing Microsoft.VC90.MFC,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type=" win32 ver 9.0021022.8 I've never done anything like this before. And I've had a lot of experience with Windows, DOS, Linux, Unix and on & on.
spmarch Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 (edited) Which microsoft folder? I can't find any existing thing that looks like a C++ file. Maybe there aren't any. It could be that all this x-box crap that came loaded on this machine is confusing the file structure. Edited February 2, 2024 by spmarch
spmarch Posted February 3, 2024 Posted February 3, 2024 (edited) OK, I've gotten around the problem. I ran the ROF.exe rather than the SETTINGS.exe. I don't know if that is good workaround but it works so fare for me. I just have to find the shortcut keys that I remember and calibrate my joystick. You see, I installed this game on my old ACER laptop many years ago. I got tired of it hanging all the time so I quit trying to run it. So when the ACER crapped out I bought a faster machine. This LENOVO is so much better! Edited February 3, 2024 by spmarch
m46an Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 That is not a good idea, you need settings to max out the graphics. 2008 c++ https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26368 X64 and X86 install both.
