Mtnbiker1998 Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 Looking forward to giving it a go! Does this have the new map with all the seasons?
Celtic Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 how do we make this work? It's using an "out of date Java" which, at least on my machine it throwing errors because I'm not running Java 17 - there are absolutely zero instructions included what needs to be done to actually make this work? I'm trying to not sound whiny and like I've not done any work for myself but it's a bit frustrating to have to jump through hoops with zero instruction.

This is a new thing for this release. If that is not happening then I have to revisit.
ACG_Red Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 Hello Pat, I'm having trouble adding a coop pilot to a german campaign in all versions, 15.1.1, 15.1.2 and alpha 16.0.0. Here is the log from my latest attempt in 16.0.0 PWCGErrorLog.zip 1
aust3298 Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 Hey Pat, When I try 16.0.0 Alpha, all I get is an error message: "This Application Requires a Java Runtime Environment 17.0.0".

Mtnbiker1998 Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 Think there might be some kind of issue in the config of the autumn and late autumn maps? Everything is blue from September to December. tested both 1917 and 1918 the summer map seems fine, and winter seems to also be fine. I took leave every 15 days or so and generated a test mission, this started in September and was gone by mid December. Maybe something to do with the map having both a late and early fall version? mods off, Vanilla quick missions and Vander's EMG seem to be working just fine. 1

Tried uninstalling all iterations of Java using the official Java uninstaller package, deleting and re-installing PWCG 16.0.0 Alpha, but I still get the above Java error. I can't work out from the Java folder packaged with 16.0.0 where the installer exe is.

Dr1falcon500 Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 I haven't tried this yet but I notice that this version still has an Albatros CII which is substituted by Fe2b. The CII pusher was only a prototype and didn't enter service. I'm surprised nobody else has picked up on this. Maybe I'm wrong, but all the resources I've looked at say the same thing.

You're not wrong. I need a plane that would work in early to mid 1916 as a corps recon that a DH2 can catch. Alternatives?
Majpalmer Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 I'm getting the Blue tint in the Fall and assorted problems with missing aircraft. I can't select the CP aircraft I own because the displays gets all distorted. The message I get tells me to report my error, but I cannot. Is there a DH2?

Might be fun to see an Fe in German colours.
Dr1falcon500 Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 Got it running okay. Some violet colouring generally, especially trees and wind shields. Not as bad as some though. 1st September 1916. Might transfer to exp version.
Majpalmer Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 Started a new German career in January 1917. No graphics issues. Played the first four missions without problems but then I couldn't generate the fifth. I sent the error report.

Majpalmer Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 Roger. Horst_Michaelis202401191201141[1].zip 1
Dr1falcon500 Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 I thought the September purple haze might be due to haze settings, so I set those to zero. That only made it worse. So I tried cranking up the haze which didn't do much. Fairly hard to see much through the wind screen when its got purple glaze. So I moved my Jasta 2 campaign to experimental version which work okay.
PatrickAWlson Posted January 20, 2024 Author Posted January 20, 2024 Working on the autumn thing. I looked at the PWCG settings - HMap = "graphics\landscape_westernfront_au\height.hini"; Textures = "graphics\landscape_westernfront_au\textures.tini"; Forests = "graphics\landscape_westernfront_au\trees\woods.wds"; GuiMap = "western_front-spring"; SeasonPrefix = "au"; CloudConfig = "autumn\02_Medium_07\sky.ini"; So the GUI Map setting is wrong. However, it seems that there is more ... In the ME there are oonly twos easons, summer and winter. HMap = "graphics\landscape_westernfront_au\height.hini"; Textures = "graphics\landscape_westernfront_au\textures.tini"; Forests = "graphics\landscape_westernfront_au\trees\woods.wds"; GuiMap = "western_front-autumn"; SeasonPrefix = "su"; CloudConfig = "summer\00_clear_00\sky.ini"; So I need to correct the GUI map value. Unfortunately, I also have to set the season to "su" and the clouds to "summer". I think I've got it. Going to test. @Majpalmer I found one issue with mission generation but it only happened because my dev environment did not properly emulate the IL2 environment. I would be surprised if this was your problem. After I fixed my issue (no bin directory in the game path) the mission generated just fine. I will drop the 16.0.0 beta soon and we can revisit. Please save your current campaign for a test with the beta release. @RedGreen I have a fix for the failure to create another player pilot in a single player campaign. 2 1
Majpalmer Posted January 21, 2024 Posted January 21, 2024 Pat, I'll save it. And thanks! I've been using your campaign generators for . . . ever, it seems. Started with your CG for Red Baron 3d, whenever that was. Mike Palmer

Russkly Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 I'm getting an error message whilst trying to create a career:
ITAF_Civetta Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 Wow...amazing ? Thanks for your work Pat! 1

PatrickAWlson Posted January 24, 2024 Author Posted January 24, 2024 @Russkly Data entry issue. I have it fixed on my end. If you want to do a manual patch: 1. Find albatrosd2.json in the aircraft folder 2. Change introduction daTE:"introduction": "19160915", 3. Restart PWCG if it is already running.
Mtnbiker1998 Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 (edited) Happy to report that autumn has arrived! Been taking leave and skipping through the months to see when the Late Autumn map pops up, got stopped in mid November with this error message though, log attached Update: The mission generated fine after restarting PWCG, but I'll leave the log here if you wanna take a look. is the Late Autumn map implemented? I noticed I went directly from autumn to Winter in 1917 starting in December, would LOVE to see the gradual increase in snow that the late map gives us PWCGErrorLog.txt Edited January 24, 2024 by Mtnbiker1998
aust3298 Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 Pat, I continue to get the message: error message: "This Application Requires a Java Runtime Environment 17.0.0" I cant figure out why PWCG 16.0.0 FC beta cannot recognized the enclosed Java version. I still have the 15.1.2 FC experimental version with enclosed Java and it runs fine. I see where Russkly downloaded a version of Java and corrected the problem, but I have not tried this. It just seems that it should work as is. Thanks for your work.

Majpalmer Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 I started 4 careers in September, October, November and December 1916. No map issues. No other problems. I would recommend not starting a German career before December with a Jasta with the Albatros DII.. In my Sept., Oct., and Nov., careers I was flying a Halberstadt D2. The problem was that all I ever ran into were Fees substituting for Farmans. This, of course, isn't Pat's fault. There aren't many appropriate Entente two-seaters available yet for the period. On paper the Halb should be able to catch the Fee, but most of the time they're higher and they run. I caught one and did some damage but that was it. The December campaign was the Albatros was much better.
Majpalmer Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 One minor issue. Jasta 8. December 1916. I've shot down several N11s and N17s, but in the claims drop-down menu there are no Nieuports. I did get the kills.

Ne N17s could be "Pups". When those planes come out I will use the real one.
Majpalmer Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 And Farmans are FEs? RE8s are the other one starts with a B?
PatrickAWlson Posted January 26, 2024 Author Posted January 26, 2024 For those planes that are coming I can add them when they arrive. Some will never be made. The Farman = Fee is forever as we will never get a Farman. Same with Dorand AR = RE8. Most egregious is the Albatros C.II (only made a couple of prototypes) being dressed up as a gray Fee with crosses. Been asking for an early war German recon for 14 years. Holding my breath waiting for that to happen would be a very bad idea 1
Majpalmer Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Made it from December 1916 into mid-February 1917. Minor issues only. Sometimes there's no box for the narrative in the combat report. In January 1916 i had an Fee substitute for a DFW. Fortunately, I am old and color blind and fly with labels. Had one mission fail to complete but when I scrubbed, restarted, and tried again, it was fine. I know you have the passage of time in days between missions coded into your program. I know that is adjusted for seasons, etc. Could that be made into a configuration parameter that the player could adjust? Or is that too difficult? I know I can take leaves to move along so I don't outscore MvR in 4 months, but.... Thanks. Mike 1
