Another non-historical skin as I slowly play around with the template. I thought I would post it for anyone interested. I will probably add to the weathering until (or even if) I find an interesting unusual historical example that catches my eye.

I originally posted the comment about a Corsair in the original IAR-80/81 skins thread.

 

I was unaware that even a comment regarding a non historical skin would generate controversy.

 

It's beyond me why, if I don't like a skin, I just scroll past it. However non historical (or fantasy, as they're referred to) skins clearly ruffles the feathers of some members and I'm fine with that.

 

Anyways @LukeFF split the thread generating a topic specifically for non historic (or fantasy) skins.

 

@geraki9 you initially posted correctly prior to the thread being split and personally I respect your request and thank you for the polite phrasing.

I don't understand what the fuss is about either. It doesn't say afaik (or it didn't) that it was for historical skins only. Even then, it makes sense having all the skins in one place, for the sake of convenience. Having skins spread over hundreds of forum threads is a pain... Imo, no matter how realistic your game, skins are you're still playing a video game at the end of the day.

To this "Corsair" I had to put the engine of an I.A.R.80, so it won't go very fast...

A collection of eight skins of the I.A.R. 80/81 "in disguise". (Only short wing version.)
This was a fun, if somewhat difficult exercise, because the model is more complex than it may seem.
It started with someone's witty remark that the I.A.R. looked like a juvenile Corsair – so I decided to make such a skin.
And then three more F4U variants.
And then four more of my favourite camo schemes from other radial engine fighters. 🙂
