I am preparing but i still cannot get a Waco to take off as player ... looking for some clever tips.

Malfunctioning testers on my system, even from the QMB mission generator:

There's a fabulous air-start mission from Jaegermeister in the IL2 5.01b default packaging.

Thanks for the comment on the Single Mission "Chicago Night". It should be in the Battle of Normandy Scenario Missions folder.

Thanks, it's the same on my system with this. Almost if the Waco has parking brakes on .. here is the track with your unedited mission from above:

That is super weird. I watched the track, but I can't duplicate it. I ran that mission various times on autopilot and flying it myself with no issues.

I think you should put in a bug report with the mission file and the track attached because it must be either a controller issue specific to your setup or an account setting of some type. It should work but in your case it doesn't.

This brings me to the question: What kind of REALISM is set?

In my first Waco take-off tests, CUSTOM was used (= parking brakes). After I changed this to NORMAL, it runs.

Parking brakes may apply to the Glider? Worth looking at. Running it on autopilot should fix that though.

I am now thinking of a controller issue, I have crosswind pedals since last October, maybe toebrakes stay active?

Toebrake-pedals in the glider move OK with my crosswinds and are released on take off as player.

Could not find a parking brake ketbind for the glider so far ..

Must dive in to it. funny thing is that other IL2 nor DCS planes don't have  such problems.

IL2 has axis problems with my Trackhat Sensor v2, which i found was related to a missing NPclient drivers IL2 did not see in the proper folder, so i copied them in to the windows driver folders manually also. Bingo.

But that staggering C47 in the track is quite nicely modeled  by the devs!

PS Checked the WACO for parking brakes, or even wheel chocks; there seem to be none, nothing moves in the cockpit, and have no installed mods.

Now with a fresh download of IL2 - it works as it should!

Apparently something screwed up in my installation. will set all up new.

It was no error in my input or startup files, so something in the gilder plane model files probably. Thanks.

PS with an airstart WACO player i just found out thanks your Chicaco Night mission that you always should set both towplane and CG4a to vulnerable in Advanced;

Am i right? Also the timer to begin the first wp around 3 seconds me thinks.

@Jaegermeister Sorry, it seems that my post here was misleading (my mistake as I'm not a native speaker). The equal sign above ("=") only meant the effect (as if the glider had put on the handbrake), but not that I suspect that it has parking brakes installed like on some aircraft. This seems to be a bug (or developer's intention?) because with the realism settings CUSTOM (marked Unbreakable only) the CG-4A refused to move and it even stopped the C-47A from moving (no cable break! - see picture).

Could you please test this also to see that it is general? If this is confirmed, then it should be reported to the devs. Thx.

I tested it with only "Unbreakable" selected in the Realism settings and you are correct. The Glider does not move and it most likely should not be that way. I will report it.

A PS, just tested a runway take off with unbreakable selected, with the towplane as player, the caboose took off OK.

(vulnerable for the waco selected as well, and take off cmd on the tow plane set to 'no taxi'.)

Apparently you can't select "Unbreakable" as a player option for the Glider. I don't know if it applies to other planes or not, I have never used it. Try setting the Tow Plane to Unbreakable as the player and see what happens...

I have used "invulnerable" for various reasons, but that's not exactly the same thing.
