The sun size is much better with this mod.  Will experiment with HDR and your bloom setting.  I don't quite know why the sun  is so large in Il2 and bloom so overblown.  Quite difficult in VR but I am scaling via SteamVR to  125% world scale as the  default world scale is quite small but I think this is a developer compromise for small Field of View headsets.

I made a Sun_glow mod for the Sun_Lens mod. It has a folder for viewing and selecting the sunglow file.  The sunglow file from folder No. 3 is in working condition. But maybe it’s worth trying others.  I'm also happy with the smallest number 1.  I thought that in fact the open sun during the day looks quite bright, but the default is too much for me.  In fact, they can be easily combined into one mod by combining the lens and sunglow files.

Graphics and monitor settings greatly affect the appearance of the sun.

New version of the solar lens.
1. Reduced in size
2. It seems that we managed to place the lens closer to the center of the sun
3. The sun acquired small thin rays.
  Sunglow files as an experiment. If anything can be thrown away, like everything else.

This "Sun Lens/Sun Glow" mod also eliminates the Lens Flare camera effect.  I downloaded it to compare it to the Lens Flare Removal mod mentioned above, and it eliminates lens flare as well as reducing the size of the sun.  I haven't figured out what the Sun Glow portion is doing yet, but this mod gives you some choices between the two mods in eliminating lens flare.
