Hey everyone! We are planning an interview session with @Han soon where he will take your questions about the IL2 series. This is your chance to ask him (just about) anything about where the project is going, new technologies, etc.

 

And, before anyone asks, no, we will not be disclosing what the new project is or the theater of operations. ? Anything else, fire away!

Is there any planned support for IL-2 Great Battles after the 2024 planes, or will all resources be moved to the new project? (Thanks, sorry if this counts as asking about the new one)

Are higher-res 3D models, multiple 4K texture maps and PBR textures on the horizon?

Just answer this one question straight please... will the new project be compatible with the existing GB series?

A very simple yes or no will suffice, not some ambiguous statement that still leaves us non the wiser... thank you.

Hi,
I have two Questions,
one is in a scale from 1 to 10 (1 is the start, 10 is finish) where do you think that the the project is actually?
the other one is easy, are we going to have multi-motor bombers?

Will you reconsider "no flight model upgrades for FC plane?

And will you improve the AI on the FC aircraft. Its so disappointing fighting completely inept AI in ww1. Ww1 planes can do amazing maneuvers not seen in ww2. But in FC the AI just flies in lazy circles waiting to get shot down.

Will there be better AI for our wingmen in FC?

in airfight they do not much..

will there be a better response to our orders inflight?

 

will there ever be aces as individuals in this game like in red baron or woff?

 

can we save our tactical markings in career mode in the future?

 

better ai in general for ground troops to prevent friendly fire , or better behaviour for enemy fighters?

Any plans for VR/performance improvements like DCS has done, i.e. native Open XR support, multi threading.

Any chance of seeing the engine timers system revised or maybe even removed entirely? There was some brief hope in the P-40 engine timers thread but that seems to have died out.

I second the multi-motor bombers question, it'd be really nice to see some 4 engine heavies.

 

Also, is there any type of plan to allow for 3rd party (or user) maps mods?  Ie: Africa, Malta, Italy etc.

 

For the VR folks out there is Foveated Rendering anywhere on the horizon?

Hello guys! Thanks for the Q&A :salute:

I have three questions for the new project:

1. Is career going to be expanded? I really love the new missions and how many things have been added. I would love to have more features too. Maybe even a coop mode.


2. Is there any plans to improve, expand or work with the mission editor? Maybe a "lite version of it" so more people can access and edit content.
 

3. I love to start from Ramp (hangars, parking spots) on my missions. Will we be able to do this in MP in the future?. Maybe stablished spots that could be filled would be cool. Right now there is a defined place only.

Do you plan on developing the mission editor further? Adding capabilities, trigger types, the ability to make one flight join up with another etc etc?

Not trying to be a smart ass or anything, but what else is there to ask LukeFF? I think people want to know what the new project is and what the new technologies are that the team is trying to implement, at least those are the only questions I have as of now. No disrespect intended, but the pink elephant is in the room. There is not much else to talk about. I mean closing out the Box series in the most positive way that the team can is important but that is elementary now.

Can the VR performance of the game be improved?  Can the buttons mapping be improved (128 buttons per USB device)?

What are the future plans for Flying Circus?  Will it be reworked for the new game?

 

 

Any plans for creating plane specific roll and yaw profiles (like what was done for pitch)?

 

Any plans for a FC Nieuport 24?

Are there plans for WW1 scenario in the new thing?

Will the new thing involve better engine damage?

What change or enhancement in the new game, as compared with the GB series, are you most excited to work on?

Main question from me is related to AI wingmen and crew. 

 

Is it possible to make communication and response from AI wingmen at least somewhat realistic. Even something akin to what we had in Il21946 would be an improvement. I ask this in relation to the existing GB series, not the 'new project'

Will you finally acknowledge time dilation problem in the current version of the game? (which imposes unreasonably low unit numbers compared to your competitors)  Will you improve this problem in the next version?

I have 2 questions

 

Previous producer (Jason) planned to do a Malta - Sicily - Italy  module which was a long awaited theatre (at least by me :) ), never been  done before. It would have given us the B17 who is really missing in the game. Italy is too much difficult to do as I understood but a Tunisia (desert) - Malta- Sicily could have done the job. Why did you change this as many of us were waiting for something like that?

Second question: do you plan to develop the Normandy map with 41-43 collector planes (early Typhoon, Spit V with clipped wings , early Spit IX...) ?

How hard would programming flak with force feedback be? Would be nice to have some information from flak bursts to trigger haptics, shakers and speakers. Far, mid and close hits, for instance.

My biggest question about the game is backwards compatibility. A lot of us will be frustrated if they dump everything and start from scratch and we have to leave all of the great planes, maps, tanks, vehicles, that we have purchased in GB and abandon it. I personally would understand buying it again at a reduced price if they fixed many of the quibbles and issues with the existing content, but to not have it ported over and start with one map, one theater again would be pretty frustrating no matter how great the "new project" may or may not be.

I know the sea planes are not planned for the current Flying Circus releases, but is there plan to revisit the technology in some form in the series? There are lots of interesting sea plane aircraft, not only what we had in RoF but WW2 planes too like the MBR-2 for the Eastern Front or the various RAF Coastal Command for the Normandy map, and it would be a shame not to revisit this experience

First, why won't you disclose what the project is, or the theatre of operations?

 

Second, if you won't disclose the theatre of operations, can you at least definitively clarify which theatres it won't be?

Can you please have a look at the P40's performance?  It's current (lack) of performance in no way reflects it's combat record anywhere it was used outside the Soviet Union.

I would like the Developers to explain if there will be any resources devoted to the following issues in the foreseeable future that need improvement in the current IL2 Series ;

* AI behavior in regards to attack and defense formations, airspeed, maneuvers, etc.

* Radio communications with wingmen and response to flight leader commands. (Possible rework of command system)

* Additional appropriate static vehicles for newer theatres such as Normandy and FC I/II/III

 

Also 1 other question...

* Are there any plans for new or additional modules for the Great Battles series or are they done with that and the "New Project" will be it in the future once currently announced content is released?

More niche questions:

  • Any plans to enhance the mission editor, hopefully an in-game editor that can quickly be tested like in DCS?
  • Any plans to improve formations, including formations within formations? (sorry i dont know the right terms).

Do you plan on fixing the P-47 so that it's performance, including it's engine, more closely matches it's real-life counterpart?

I'd like to know why ----- video games like World of Tanks, War Thunder and even Gunner Heat PC are Marketing circles around Han and 1C.  Every time I fire up You Tube it's all I see - their advertising.  I see no IL-2 advertising.  Why?

Any update on the possibility of adding the AQMB (Advanced Quick Mission Builder) to the rest of the WWII maps and then some WWI maps as well?
