BlitzPig_EL Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 If I'm reading the speed chart correctly, it's pretty much in the ballpark of most mid 30s monoplane fighters. Somewhere in the middle between the P.11 and D.XXI, and the P36 and F2A.

Somewhere in the middle between the P.11 and D.XXI, and the P36 and F2A. Yeah. It hit around 500Km/h at 5000meters. Early versions IAR-80 and 80A are a bit faster, around 525km/h. The prototype did 550km/h, but had only two MG's and nothing else. Adequate for the beginning of the war, but it rapidly fell behind everything else, because of the lack of upgraded engines. All Italian planes with inline engines were sexy. The early radials, not so much, but once they put that DB engine in them, the all looked mean. Edited December 5, 2023 by Jaws2002
Jade_Monkey Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 @Jaws2002, is the engine RPM at 2300 correct for both cruise and combat? Just want to confirm (page 23)

Just want to confirm (page 23) At higher speed settings yes, but at lower speeds no. It depends how fast you want to travel, or how far you want to travel. For combat 2300rpm is the goal. Here's the table with different cruise speeds, and settings for economical flight. It does make a big difference in range. the headers are boost pressure, altitude, rpm, IAS, TAS, time in the air and range. You can chose how you want to cruise. 1
